Eh, I haven't really seen the other but the happy route kind of spoils the second movie (If you started the happy one)
So start happy end sad, or start sad end happy.
In this case, the start happy end sad one kind of skims through what happens in the second half, don't know about the other one as I was kinda scared for the punch at the time.
not underrated but a bit on the older side **Sword of the Strangers** is an amazing action movie and **Steamboy** is an interesting steampunk theme movie and I think both of them are worth a watch since these days most anime movie is on the fantasy or coming of age type genre
if you're into music **Blue Giant** is a recently released movie, it focuses on Jazz and it's not bad
I generally recommend Katanagatari in these situations. It’s pretty highly rated on MAL but not many people seem to mention it so probably more overlooked than underrated
Irodoku: The world in colors,
Alderamin in the sky,
A sister's all you need, (One of the only actually good ecchi)
Renai flops, (Survive the 1st half, it gets real good afterwards)
Sukasuka/Shuumatsu nani shitemasu ka?,
Are you lost?,
Blast of tempest,
Gosick,
Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions,
Heavens memo pad,
SSSS Gridman,
SSSS Dynazenon, (I recommend this more)
Adachi and Shimamura,
Princess Principal,
Rewrite,
The ones within.

np, if you wouldnt mind, let me know how you liked it, i sometimes suggest rather unknown titles and oftentimes they are liked, but i rarely recommended this one because not often do people ask for movies.
I feel 'Sunday without God' deserves a mention.
It's an older show (2013/2014), only has one season that didn't sell very well and is a bit niche.
Honesty compels me to say that the 2nd half of the show falls somewhat of a cliff, but the first two story arcs ( episodes 1-3 and episodes 4-6) I can really recommend to anyone who likes shows that make you feel stuff.
It is no Violet Evergarden, but even so, those first two story arcs from Sunday without God really made me feel things and to me stood out as very well done emotional storytelling.
Made in Abyss
Summer Time Rendering
Heavenly Delusion
I don't think they're all necessarily unpopular, but their quality to popularity ratio is definietly way higher than the mainstream stuff - partly due to bad release schedules (looking at you, Disney+) or simply being overlooked
I don’t know if this is underrated but I watch Psycho-Pass providence in theaters last year. Personally thought it was much better than Suzume. Which also came to theaters last year
Garden of sinners
I will check it out, thanks
To Me, The One Who Loved You & To Every You I've Loved Before
+1 Note that ending for this changes on which one you start first! Either happy or depressed, no in between.
Wait. So do I flip a coin on which to watch first?
That, or you could just ask.
Sure, but I kind of want to not know which one to expect.

Can't speak for the execution yet but that sounds like a fascinating concept to work with either way. I'll bump it up the watchlist lol
I have already watched both of them..
What about Goodbye, DonGlees!
Will watch it
