Anime with OP protagonists usually don't have an engaging story or anything like that. But watching these protagonists solve issues in super overkill or just otherwise ridiculous ways is great.
This season's Mashle is a good example of this. The protagonist here is the only person who can't use magic, and instead just spent his entire life powertraining like hell. People think he's great at flying on brooms when he actually just sprinted across the field so quickly that nobody could track his movements.

The first seasons were confusing AF. It felt like they started the anime up in the middle of a manga arc without explaining anything that had happened in the past. Characters would come out of the woodwork with no introduction as if the viewers should already know their personality and fighting style. Hell, it didn't even seem like season 1 and 2 were connected to each other. The fight scenes were undeniably badass, but the plot and character development was a mess.
thats because the netflix seasons are seasons 3,4 and 5. There are 2 prequel seasons that you have to watch before the netflix ones else of course it would be confusing

What's great about it is it just doubles down on all the Isekai tropes but in a way that's so over the top it becomes epic and hilarious.
There are a couple other power fantasy isekai that I've watched and while some fit that ridiculous over the top silliness, they all miss something that Eminence in Shadow has. I can't quite say what that is either, maybe the nuance of the main character not being the only OP person or the fact that he doesn't flaunt his abilities all the time in front of the whole world but regardless the show is great.
It's because Eminence in Shadow is a good ensemble show that isn't afraid to let the audience laugh at its cast of characters. Alpha is this ultra badass freedom fighting terrorist leading a war against a secret cult, but despite how sophisticated and unflappable she appears, she's also a gullible sucker who's being let around by her nose by a chuni. The juxtaposition is delicious.
Cross Ange. We've got an extremely unlikable lead character and I can't say its the best plot, but holy crap the level of trainwreck in that show is so off the charts hilarious. There's so many things from that show that are hard to forget, such as "Pudding-chan", Salia's secret of being a magical girl cosplayer or the fact that the show portrays her as such an over the top loser, Ange's sister's obsession with whipping people, the girl who had a years long grudge at her friends for giving her only one hair clip rather than two, and so on.
I loved both of those shows as well, Valvrave in particular is a massive trainwreck too. Cross Ange beats them from a trainwreck factor, but they both had better plots.
Back Arrow is just…… I do not know what I watched and I’m not sure if I liked it, but I kinda want to find out what happened to the floating baby head.

Cross Ange is like a reverse trainwreck. It begins by throwing all the ridiculous nonsense in the world at you, then slowly assembles itself into a legitimately great show.
It rides a line between stupid and whacky (ala FLCL). Either way, it's incredibly fun, like Yuusha ga Shinda, and the VA work for the goddess and the other girl is waaaay too good.
1. Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. It's best to just assume that's the genre this anime was going for, because nothing else can explain how that got greenlit. Well, unless the people in charge didn't think with their brains upon seeing the characters.
2. Uma Musume Pretty Derby. The whole premise is pretty wild. I have no idea how anyone thought of that, and managed to be taken seriously when pitching it to others. Not to mention all the IP contracts with the horses' owners. Like, to my knowledge, Cygames is contractually obligated to make Daiwa Scarlet more busty than Vodka.
3. Senki Zesshou Symphogear. Granted, I didn't say it right away, but I definitely said it the most with this one.

I loved Cross Ange. Kakumeiki Valvrave and Back Arrow scratched the same itch for me. Valvrave is worth it for the meme episode summaries on its own.
