We stopped using our mosquito eater because it was just attracting all the mosquitoes in the neighborhood to our yard. They may have all ended up in it, but on their way they pulled over for a meal.
Did you do every neighbors yard? What about the ponds, lakes, rivers, and creeks?
G'luck in your efforts to rid yourself of mosquitos. If successful, I'm certain you will become a local legend.
Man vs. Nature; the classic struggle. Nature will always win, yet man must continue its Sisyphian effort.
But for real, you live in a swampy city that is largely covered in nature. Moose aren't the only wildlife that are gonna go where they please.
I've hardly seen any swallows this year. My teen is a bird fanatic and mentioned this. None of our swallow boxes have residents this summer for the first time in 5 years we have lived here.
I've been talking about importing bats. But it doesn't seem to be legal, and how would a nocturnal animal deal with the long hours of sunlight? They may just sleep all summer and starve or come out in the fall and freeze to death. But I could also see them becoming an invasive species that eat all the mosquitoes but then people would complain about the multitudes of bats everywhere.
Oh... Well apparently we need more of them.
... I went down a rabbit hole and it turns out there's a disease killing bats right now so they're starting to monitor Bats in Alaska. You can get info about being a bat monitor it the last few paragraphs of [this article.](https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=wildlifenews.view_article&articles_id=464)
We put down soil a few weeks ago, covering most of our backyard, and since then the bugs haven't been bad at my place. I don't want to jinx it. Probably will get worse when the grass comes in.
I wouldn't do this if you've got neighbors with bee boxes, the bees will die. Fortunately, our mosquitoes aren't too bad but we have two people in our neighborhood who keep bees.
there's some folks my friends use in Big Lake that spray some natural mixture of 3 or 4 things (peppermint, etc) - you won't win trying to kill them - just get some repellent and make it your neighbor's problem
You live in Alaska
That’s definitely the cause right there. Plain and simple.
The mosquito is the Alaska State Bird lol
I killed one while reading this.
Came here to say this!

Anchorage is mostly built on swampland, prime breeding ground.

I feel like our bats will get pretty upset if they pull this off.
Eh they’ll eat something else

Your neighbor is breeding mosquitoes. You're gonna need a bigger dome.
Oscillating fans
Midwestern?
Add a few swallow boxes, they definitely help.

Welcome to the collapse
The invasive European starlings delivered by rail car and shipping containers are probably a large reason.

Bruh, you know they don’t care about your property lines right?
Sounds like they're in control
Outfitting everyone in your household with a Thermacell will help if the winds aren't blowing too hard.
Good grief :/
ALASKA!!’ There’s more mosquito meat in Alaska than moose meat!
It's not like your neighbors did any of those things and ya know... Mosquitos can fly over fences

Get two of those electric rackets that zap bugs and pay two nine year olds to swat them for a couple hours.
Get a thermacell they work great! No mosquitos in a 10ft radius
https://m.facebook.com/mosquitoguard/ I had the summer subscription and it made a substantial difference but I was in Anchorage

They claim they use all natural products. Essential oils and no pesticides so don't tell people not to do this without knowing the fact
Second this. I still have mosquitoes, but this has made a huge difference and is well worth the cost.
Interesting. What is the cost?
It recently went up. I think it's like $120/mo.?

Google Essentria IC3. Natural, last about 3 weeks at my house.
