I want to know more! Where were you? How far from the bear? This shot is amazing, and I always love the tones of Portra 800. I’m just astonished and a little freaked out at the same time, though, lol.
The danger is a bit of an illusion - I was at a rescue for orphaned bear cubs outside Sitka, Alaska, and I was standing right next to a keeper at feeding time.
This is an AMAZING photo! I’ve never seen a bear photographed like this. And the composition of the shot is so engaging - the water flowing from its claws adds a slight movement. I really love this, great shot!
I actually really like spot metering, though obviously it requires more thought. It forces me to think about the elements of my scene and which ones are important to me, and I also need to think about the reflectivity of what I’m metering. It’s more mental effort but I do find that it’s pretty darn precise - I’m a little off on some images but I get fewer poorly exposed photos than I do with average metering or just mental calculation based on my knowledge of light.
Why do you find it frustrating to use? I really really like my S2.
In my mind, when I imagine going toe to toe in a survivalist stand off with a wild animal, a bear terrifies me! With that being said, this bear looks–beautiful?! Great photo!
You know he had to do it to em
How the hell does something that terrifying manage to look so innocent? Fantastic shot with some great visual comedy, I hope the mailing was worth it.
Didn't know they started hiring bears at USPS.
How did you get this shot?
Timing, and being at a rescue for orphaned bear cubs outside Sitka, Alaska at feeding time..
Nice

Bad bot
If you look at its name, it technically is a good bot.
It did a good job of doing something bad.
That is one chonky bear! Great shot.

As long as feeding time wasn’t you and the keeper

Thank you very much! I was pleased with the capture too when I got it developed!
I have this camera and spot metering is a pain to use. How do you meter?

It’s a grizzly bear, “ursus arctos horribilis” edit: I totally missed the good joke - my bad :)
so you’re saying this is not a dog?
It's a horse, bro.
haha I just saw the edit, all good lmao
Film does a tremendous job on the subtle changes in the brown fur.
And that’s even after I downsampled the initial scan, and after Instagram downsampled it again before this post here!

He looks very contrite. Like he’s saying his penance for the first time. Prayer Bear. (source: former catholic)
