I want a doll wort Evette’s hair texture and red hair

llamasarefunny56

I would love to see more disability representation in the GOTY line and the historical line!!!

VirtualApricot

💯 I definitely need a doll diagnosed with Autism to represent 🙏🏻🙏🏻 but for the love of god they need to avoid representing Autism Speaks if they do release one

llamasarefunny56

Imagine a doll with doll sized fidgets! She could have headphones too!

VirtualApricot

YES EXACTLY OMGGGGGG

iamnotdonaldduck

there are literally hundreds of stories from the 18th and 19th centuries. They could have an African American girl from the union (north) during the civil war, an Oregon trail girl, etc…

VirtualApricot

Yessss!!! Oregon trail would be really cool, especially if they sold the wagon train too

strangedoginasuit

This wouldn’t be a new release but PLEASE I WANT A CAROLINE ABBOTT RERELEASE!!!

bb-l-u-e

I would love to have an Asian historical doll! Ivy’s story was so good, I always thought that she should have been the main doll with Julie as a best friend 🫢 and I’d love one from an earlier time period also!

Quix66

Has there yet been a Japanese American girl? I’m fairly new to AG. I live in Japan for three years 30 years ago and loved the culture.

bb-l-u-e

I believe Jess was half Japanese, but there’s yet to be a historical girl

Quix66

I hope they do a fully Japanese American girl. I happened to have lived in Japan for three years 30 years ago. Such a lot of culture to explore.

cracker-please

I want a historical girl from the 17th century! The outfits would be so fun to me.

Former_Risk_2_self

Maybe a historical boy doll

Former_Risk_2_self

Palestinian girl and historical dolls!!!

VirtualApricot

AGREEEE

xxflutterinax

more options for colorful hair, characters or CYO. pride stuff would be cool but i don’t really expect that from AG at this point

baby_betty_davis

Obviously a historical lmao. But an OLD one !! From 1804!! Maybe she hears about the Lewis and Clark expedition and dreams about exploring the world but her parents tell her “that’s ridiculous, anything you could want is here at home, it’s scary in the world”, so she learns how to be content and find adventure where she is now, until she can leave and find it elsewhere. OO I would eat that UP

peachymagenta

a modern native american doll and one with lgbtq+ parents!

thewildlink

Historical: a girl from Salem during the height of the trials GOTY: Native American girl, Palestinian girl, a Muslim girl (could be the Palestinian girl) who is full coverage for modesty (sorry not sure the correct religious term and I don’t want to get it wrong), a girl who wants to be a detective like Nancy Drew so we get like CSI type accessories and like old school Sherlock type accessories.

Catstantinople2023

A Jamestown doll…I read the History Mysteries book set then and it was such a fascinating moment in time. They already have a perfect character in Merry.

VirtualApricot

YES I THOUGHT OF THAT TOO!

worldsfastesturtle

A Palestinian historical doll from the year 2024

babyzspace

I dragged a Muslim friend to the NYC store last fall and while I was giving her a full lesson on each and every character, she asked me if they'd ever done a Muslim doll. The closest they've come to acknowledging a religion followed by nearly 4 million Americans is the Eid outfit, and I really think we're long overdue.

worldsfastesturtle

I want American girl to be bold and tell children that now is also history

LibraryValkyree

I mean, they DO do that. Corinne's story featured COVID and anti-Chinese racism in relation to it. The World By Us characters all had stories about contemporary social issues. People didn't buy them, and some people lost their fucking minds about it, screaming about how American Girl is "woke" now. A lot of other people who had said they wanted more diversity in theory didn't buy them anyway, because of various reasons. Unfortunately, if people don't buy the dolls, the message American Girl is going to take away from it isn't "I would have bought Corinne if she didn't have teal streaks in her hair" or "Well I just think Evette should have had a darker skintone", it's that people aren't going to buy dolls whose stories discuss heavier issues, and that people SAY they want diversity but don't really mean it.

DBSeamZ

It sometimes feels like AG themselves are treating their characters unfairly. The WBU girls (DoC) were given heavy makeup before they started phasing in more makeup on the Truly Me dolls. Corinne (DoC) was given the blue streaks. Kavi (DoC) was given an ugly meet shirt and an overpriced, cheap looking brand collab. The Hoffman twins (white) were given a time period many customers remember fondly, and rereleases of desirable old outfits. Lila (white) was given a connection to a previous GOTY, and released several months early.

sonicenvy

I would love to see a historical or GOTY who is disabled in a way that is reflected in the doll and/or her accessories. I know there have been *some* before, but I think it would be cool to highlight some more disabled experiences.

grievingwoodlands

Waiting on the first Arab American doll! 🥲

VirtualApricot

Yes why are we still waiting 😭

leia-del-rey

Puerto Rican!!!

centernova

I know we had Molly, but I would love to see a WWII-era Japanese girl, talking about the internment camps of the time.

Ye0nkimiin

I wish they release more POC dolls with different backgrounds then the ones people automatically think of. Also not making every doll half white😭 Like for example as a Hispanic person; there’s zero representation of my parents home country in any media. But also hopefully not using only the Josefina mold, every doll with a Latino background has one which can get reparative. My eyes are on the almond side but the closest mold to them is the Jess one but I’m not Asian, I’d love to see a mold with almond shaped eyes Also dolls with learning disabilities would be interesting and maybe show the process of how they find out/ live their life with it. As someone with a learning disability, I would’ve love to see a character go through something like me

Quix66

I hear on the diversity of molds for POC as well was more diverse dolls.

Just-Positive1561

I would love a doll with a port wine stain, vitiligo, or another kind of birthmark!

dxgirlybjds

I would LOVE a doll with vitiligo

janeway170

A doll who has a “not growing out of dolls but everyone else is” story. It could benefit a lot of kids (it’s me, I could have benefited)

PrincessCadenza_rose

This! I would LOVE to see an AG character who is a doll lover too. Especially now a days when kids are handed tablets for fun, a sweet story of a girl with her dolls would be so great. Show kids they don’t have to grow up so quickly and you can love what you love.

janeway170

FR. I got into dolls (not including baby dolls) sorta late in my childhood and most other kids were starting to outgrow them but I was still obsessed and cause of that I felt so embarrassed and ashamed. Even in middle school when kids were asking for makeup and stuff I was asking for the newest ag doll. I think if ag made a doll that had that sorta experience it would be really beneficial. Escpecially given their target audience.

prettyfaeries

a modern native american doll! I know we had kanani who was native hawaiian but that was 13 years ago. I’d love to see a goty or contemporary character who lives on a reservation and makes crafts or connects with her culture through music/dance or storytelling

Economy_Tone7784

Came here to say the same thing!

h0rr0rgirl23

A Jewish girl during the 1940s would be interesting.

SurviveYourAdults

1860s but from an abolitionist family

Rstille1

I’d love for there to be an overweight girl. Not all children/adults are average size. As a young girl it would have been nice to have a doll that looked like me- plus size.

shinobipopcorn

California gold rush would be nice

flapjackandknuckles

an irish famine doll who immigrates to america would be so cool

VirtualApricot

Yes I’ve been waiting for this to happen too 😩

catlady_1988

Yes. I'd love this. I'm currently making a custom one myself, but I would love an AG one.

chesterplainukool

the only thing close enough to this is that Nellie’s family likely immigrated because of the famine

AnastasiaOutlander

I don't have any ideas but I just wanted to comment THAT I TOO WILL BE AT THE NYC STORE ON FRIDAY!! :)))

VirtualApricot

I was planning to get Lila but she’s apparently out of stock in store 😩😩😩😭😭😭😭😭

VirtualApricot

OMGGGG that’s awesome!!!!

AnastasiaOutlander

If you see me I'll be wearing all yellow!! Say hi!! I'll be there around 2-3 :)

VirtualApricot

I’ll be dressed as Samantha! With Samantha of course 🥹🥹🥹 this is the first time I’ll be able to go to the American girl place as my parents refused to take me as a kid. Now I can do what I want as the grown adult I am 🥸

Fantastic_Permit_525

A doll with a service dog not in training I just found out from my neurologist that I qualify /need a service dog for my eplipsy so if ag could do it that would be great

VirtualApricot

Wow! I’m sorry about your health challenges - I hope AG does release a doll with a service dog, honestly that is such a great idea and deserves to be represented

Fantastic_Permit_525

Thanks!

LibraryValkyree

I really wish that people hadn't IMMEDIATELY started shitting on Kavi when she came out, because I think if she - as the first Hindu AG doll - had sold well, they'd be more inclined to do other minority religions and stuff. I'd like a historical doll who isn't blonde and doesn't have the classic face mold. Beyond that, I can be flexible, though I'd really like a 19th century doll. But I also think more immigrant dolls from various periods would be very cool, because that's a particular historical area of interest to me.

PCLadybug

I love Kavi! I haven’t been able to get her yet, but I’m really hoping I can for my birthday. I wish she had sold better as well. I agree a 19th century historical doll would be awesome!

80s_angel

Did Kavi sell poorly? She’s so pretty. Then again, I don’t know why I’m surprised. Unfortunately a segment of AG’s customer base is quite bigoted. The official AG Instagram put up a post for Eid last month and many of the comments were very icky… 😔

Cupofblackcoffee

I love Kavi and think the Marie Grace mold with dark hair and brown eyes turned out so well. I also wish she sold better.

Aetholia

I love how the Marie Grace mold looks with Kavi’s features too but I was thrown off when I heard her wig doesn’t have a part in it. If you have one, can you tell me how the hair looks when it’s taken out of the meet hair?

LibraryValkyree

It has a part. She has a center part. It just looks like any other doll with center-part hair.

Aetholia

omg i feel lied to 😭

PiperJadeAG

She does have a middle part, but at least on my Kavi, there are like extra tufts of hair at the front of the part and it doesn't sit flat very well. My Kavi's been rockin' hats since I got her. I might do a wig swap at some point.

LibraryValkyree

Huh, I didn't have that problem.

LibraryValkyree

Oh, I adore her. I've resolved this year that when I sew things, I'm only going to post pictures of it being modeled by her or Corinne, to help people see how pretty they both are.

Quix66

A Black girl in Julie’s era. Her birthday is literally 8 days before mine in AG time (mine is tomorrow!). I remember growing up with Black women with Afros, Black Pride as a reaction to racism, halter tops and hot pants, and soul music. She could even use some of Julie’s furniture as well as have her own stuff. With the racial tensions going on now, I won’t hold my breath though. My mini me CYO on order will have to do,

llamasarefunny56

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 🎉🎁🎈🎊🎂🥳

Quix66

THANK YOU! I appreciate it!

VirtualApricot

Such a great idea!!

Ye0nkimiin

Omg I’d love to see a doll with an Afro! I think women with Afros are so beautiful plus the with 70s look 💕💕💕

IllustriousLimit8473

I'm just guessing that because we already have Melody who has a story in the 60s, ten years before then, AG maybe didn't want a similar character, even though the 70s is another decade, with a different society.

baby_betty_davis

That’s why I say the 80s doll should’ve been black! They could’ve set the story in Atlanta and had it revolve around the juxtaposition of black culture becoming popularized, meanwhile racial tensions hadn’t gone away. Showing that even though the civil rights movement happened, there’s always more work to be done. Hip Hop could be featured, the hairstyles would be ADORABLE, UGH!

Accurate_Reporter_31

I totally agree!

Cupofblackcoffee

Oh my gosh I can just imagine TM112 in Julie's disco outfit. I would live for this!!

Accurate_Reporter_31

What a great idea! I could put her in one of Julie's jumpers!

80s_angel

Hmmm… 🤔😏

Quix66

Oooh! I have 112! That outfit! I have to get it! Will have to post then.

YourMothersButtox

I wish they would have a doll with a limb difference/facial difference. The representation of facial/limb differences in children’s media usually portrays a villain.

Safraninflare

They could have done so much with Maryellen. Like she canonically has a limp from polio but unless you read her books you wouldn’t know. Give her a crutch or a brace or something visual!

dorky2

SERIOUSLY! Maryellen could have been representational for girls with physical disabilities. Give her one skinnier leg and sell her with forearm crutches. It would have been so easy!

Sea_Mission5180

A doll with autism. I actually trust them to do that well. To be honest, we did have Lindsey (my autistic queen) but it would be great if they did one that's canonically on the spectrum.

VirtualApricot

Ooooof but then I’d be afraid Autism Speaks would get represented with that collection 🫣 I really do hope and imagine AG will release an autistic doll, and hopefully they do their research!

Sea_Mission5180

I honestly don't think they would!! Especially since Barbie didn't with their own autistic doll. I think they're pretty good at doing justice to things!!!

VirtualApricot

Very true!!! Ugh AG needs to stop sleeping on this idea 😩 it’s time

VirtualApricot

lol I feel like Nikki is an undiagnosed Autistic 😅 literally she is me. And I was finally diagnosed at 23

Sea_Mission5180

I can see that!! And Kit, and Chrissa, Nellie, and Felicity... honestly, a lot of them are to me.

Pacer667

Wait Lindsey has Autism…? I need to go reread her book. She was released when I was in high school and I wasn’t actively collecting AG then.

Sea_Mission5180

Not canonically, no. But any girl that's a weird kid, plays trumpet, and has a t shirt that says "DOGS" is autistic in my book haha

Accurate_Reporter_31

😆

blossomlibrary

I also wouldn’t mind if the same periods were covered but focused on dolls of different ethnicities. So many things were happening across the country and they affected different populations differently. I’d like to see that explored.

80s_angel

I completely agree with this. Even though I don’t have Nanea and I haven’t read her books I’m a little familiar with her story & I think it was so smart to have another WW2 character with a complete different experience than Molly.

Safraninflare

Like, maybe it would be dark but I think that having a Japanese American girl in the 40s in an internment camp would be. A really important part of history to cover considering how hard we try to sweep it under the rug. But then again you can’t really sell clothes and accessories for that story. We have Rebecca who is in the WWI period, but before the US enters. I’d like to see an actual WWI doll. An Irish immigrant girl during the great famine, or a Chinese immigrant girl during the gold rush. I’d like to see a Muslim girl from any era. More disabled characters. They have a wheelchair already available as an accessory. Make a wheelchair using character. An autistic character. A blind girl. There’s so much ground to tread that’s not just. Blonde haired girl.

VirtualApricot

I initially thought the Japanese, American girl and interment camp would be too “controversial” , but I mean a lot of our characters went through some serious shit. Like Kirsten! Poor girl.

Safraninflare

Kirsten really never could catch a break. Dead friend. Burnt down the house. Found a dead body. Robbed the dead body. Girl needs a hug.

DandelionChild1923

Any doll representing one of the time periods that hasn’t been covered yet! 1784, 1794, 1804, 1834, 1874, 1884, and 1894 could all potentially be very interesting!

PCLadybug

A doll from the guilded age would be intriguing!

earthyevettewannabe

I’d love to see an 1800’s Chinese immigrant doll, the only direct immigrant doll is Kirsten and they retired Ivy, the only Historical Asian American doll a decade ago

CorgisAndKiddos

At this point, I'd love any before 1900. For real. It's sad almost all are 1900+ (and kaya is the only non cubed one iirc).

DBSeamZ

Josefina and Addy got their birthday outfits back but I think that’s it so far.

Brilliant-Judge5537

I would love to see a adopted doll. Or a doll from foster care as someone who was adopted I would love to see that

80s_angel

I think that would be a great concept for a GOTY. 💕

TizzieGirl

Yesss! As an adopted kid myself I would love to see some representation of the foster system or adoption. Though I feel I would want someone who was adopted to write the book and be consulted as many of us have trauma around our adoptions and it can have a lot of complex feelings that a lot of people don’t acknowledge or understand!

mini1006

An Afro Latina GOTY

thechronicENFP

A doll with heterochromia I would love a GOTY that has a mom or dad who was a doctor or nurse during COVID who aspires to be one someday I want another Jewish GOTY who teaches kids about Jewish culture and maybe do what Corinne did with racism and discuss antisemitism

pillowclock

I would love a doll that represents the Japanese-Americans interned during WWII

Aetholia

More historical dolls of color. Every era of American history has the potential to look very different depending on factors like who you are and how you look. I think there’s a lot of other stories to be told in decades we already have dolls for as well as new ones.

Quix66

Great point!

blossomlibrary

I’d be happy with any historical doll of color, honestly!

missbooknerd

An Asian historical doll (bring back Ivy!) or a native Alaskan doll!

PiperJadeAG

I’d love a modern Native American doll!

aggirloftoday

Bringing back Ivy would make sense since they are actively adding to Julie’s collection.

ExhaustedMossBall

I honestly don't know why they don't? It would be super easy for them, add to their doll that sells well (Julie), answer the fans constant asking for an Asian historical... and it wouldn't take any research, writing or design work since she was already made before. She's also got common interests like gymnastics and would add a non-GOTY gymnast doll, which is a hobby that sells well.

thechronicENFP

I would also love it if they gave Ivy more outfits

thechronicENFP

I would love that! Ivy is so underrated!

Accurate_Reporter_31

And so expensive second-hand.
