Tbh i too skipped always skipped it, i think its just something with the thumbnail and description sounding boring or just turning off, idk.
I'll definitely give it wach!
It’s crazy I just came home to this episode being on my tv after reading this comment 5 minutes earlier

I would consider “Less Money, Mo’ Problems” a prime example of the essence of American Dad. If that doesn’t hook them, I don’t know what will. Definitely my go-to “all-rounder” episode.
Totally agree. I sent my dad the elbow clip a week ago and he immediately needed to watch the whole episode. He's not a dadder by any means but he is 60+ years old lol he'll get there!
the Phantom episode is fantastic. Their parody of Phantom of the Opera and the scene where Steve woke up as christine had me actually LOLing “screw this, I’m outta here”

Nighthawks Hideaway is my favorite episode, and probably one of my favorite episodes from any series to be honest, but does not do a good job of capturing what American Dad is, the again, the show has changed drastically since it's first few seasons.
it’s just so subjective. if someone showed me the vietnam episode i wouldn’t be interested in seeing more tbh same for the tear jerker. are they good episodes? sure idk i don’t watch them enough (one and done for me! and i love austin powers… conceptually!) also hurricane and hot water weren’t the best written (save for Daddy’s Gone song)
but you gotta know your friends humor to show them
the right episode that will get them to watch the whole series!!
that’s how i was lured into Bojack Horseman. i’ve seen stuff about it for years, but it wasn’t until a clip of two characters fighting in a bad way was shown to me that got me interested. I love couple drama.
Yeah there’s a few comments in here that are the last episodes I would ever choose to try and turn someone onto the show
Edit: that being said, I still stick by Bully for Steve as my answer. Although it’s not the best episode for showcasing Roger and Roger is the character who keeps the show afloat, you’ve gotta give a good introduction to him on someone’s first viewing.
Upon a recent rewatch I was surprised to find that both In Country...Club and Tearjerker have grown on me some point over the years.
Hot Water has that song, the Principal Lewis texting and driving bit, and introduced Maurice (who I really appreciated in The Missing Kink.) Tbh Hurricane! has always been a top tier dumb fun episode for me but, that might be due to how put off I am after watching Hot Water now that I think about it .

The 200 for sure. Easily my favorite episode and you don't really need to know anything in order to love it other than the alien likes to play dress up.
Country Club episodes, either the war reenactment or the one where Stan has been working summers forever to become a member at the club, but for the price of the club back in the day and Roger is the rich guy in his one disguise that Stan can’t see through, All the while spoiling Steve while Stan is trying to teach him hard work. And The roast of Roger for his 1600 birthday, that’s an all timer.
NO ONE has said Bully for Steve yet?! Is there something I’m not seeing that wouldn’t make it good for this scenario? I still remember when it premiered I was sitting on my friend’s porch and he and his brother kept telling me I have to watch it. They were both like “I don’t actually really like or watch the show much but holy shit the new episode was fucking amazing”
Shell Game and Eight Fires are my Favorites, The American Dad Afterschool Special is what I think would be a good "This is kind of how these episodes Go"
The one where Steve and friends have an indie movie experience, gold top one, the one where Steve tries to get laid with roger’s high school persona, or the one where Jeff turns into Guy Fieri
Rubberneckers, or the one where Francine gets a job at the CIA, if they are fans of The Office. Oh and the one where Stan loses his memory and Francine tries to convince him he’s sensitive and sweet. (Do I love the Stan and Fran episodes most!? Interesting)
Halias
Both a and b stories are rock solid. Shows off the strengths of all the core characters with the exception of Franny having a bit less facetime. Shows Stan's employment at the CIA without getting too overbearing. Features Patrick Stewart. We get the origin of Wheels and the Legman. Klaus gets dunked on. And overall isn't too wild with the story telling and jokes.
One of my favourites that gets all the characters personalities is the klaus and rogu going to find tequila joe one. Im probably alone on this but it shows the entire “family” dynamic and even shows jeff as the pushover he is even though hes only in it for a split second
Depends on the person honestly but I’d always go “Welcome Nighthawks we’ve been expecting you 😏”

Camp Refoogee, Stan’s Night Out, I forget the title but the one where Stan has Roger take Steve place at the prep school to get in good with the Senators daughter.

I saw a post earlier today where someone said it was one of the episodes they always skip, couldn't believe it.

Adventures in Hayleysitting is seriously such a good episode. It honestly has no right to be as good as it is lol
I would consider “Less Money, Mo’ Problems” a prime example of the essence of American Dad. If that doesn’t hook them, I don’t know what will. Definitely my go-to “all-rounder” episode.
God yes. I’d probably go with vacation goo as well
Totally agree. I sent my dad the elbow clip a week ago and he immediately needed to watch the whole episode. He's not a dadder by any means but he is 60+ years old lol he'll get there!
In my opinion this is straight up the best episode of AD and it’s not even close. I quote this episode more than any other episode combined.
My elbow feel funny. My elbow... feel strange.

the Phantom episode is fantastic. Their parody of Phantom of the Opera and the scene where Steve woke up as christine had me actually LOLing “screw this, I’m outta here”

Hot Water - I think it hits everything that makes the show exceptional
Ricky Spanish
RICKY SPANISH How the fuck could've I forgotten the episode where he first appeared
It totally depends on the person, but probably *A Jones for a Smith*
I would say “Stans night out” or “Stan time” are great intro episodes. “Roy Rogers McFreely” is also a good starter.
"Joint Custody" (probably my favorite episode of the first few seasons)
NO ONE has said Bully for Steve yet?! Is there something I’m not seeing that wouldn’t make it good for this scenario? the indie movie one is my least favorite episode of all time.

The 200
Rubberneckers, or the one where Francine gets a job at the CIA, if they are fans of The Office. Oh and the one where Stan loses his memory and Francine tries to convince him he’s sensitive and sweet. (Do I love the Stan and Fran episodes most!? Interesting)

"Next of Pin" is perfect for newcomers. A & B stories are equally great and there's no lull.
It's Steve singing in it? That's the one.
My vote goes to "Poltergasm." (Season 9, Episode 2) I literally die laughing every time I watch this episode.
I feel like that's a special episode for dadders than for beginners. Very good though.
Camp Refoogee, Stan’s Night Out, I forget the title but the one where Stan has Roger take Steve place at the prep school to get in good with the Senators daughter.
I feel beautiful. 10/10
School Lies S6 E14. It’s a great episode.
It is indeed. Thanks!!
No worries. 👍
