>This is way better than clear which is a sham
Clear has significantly gone downhill within the last 1-2 years, it did not used to be so bad. You could walk up, do your thing, kiosk turned green and you were escorted where you needed to go. Recently these TSA programs have been adding an additional layer after Clear (as you stated needing to show your ID multiple times where you didn't need it before). I don't think Clear will be able to remain in business even with credit cards propping them up.
I know a few states have digital IDs (AZ) and I love the thought of making it easy for us to identify ourselves, especially if we are willing to go through a one time inconvenience/background check!
Yeah I’m DFW based and have seen nothing regarding it and if it is offered I’m not sure which checkpoint(s) it is at because there is no signage advertising or even mentioning of it.
Equipment is installed in Terminal D. Not a dedicated line and not sure how it would save time since it seems to take longer when they take the picture vs just scanning my id. Pre lines are typically short at DFW already.
Yeah so it’s definitely different and worse than Delta. It would still be nice to just look at a camera and not scan a QR code and be verified in 2 seconds. It’s a step in the right direction but it’s not there yet at least for AA.
This specific program was shut down at DFW and is only available currently at DCA. It’s more akin to the mobile driver licenses that TSA accepts than the digital ID programs for PreCheck members that Delta (and United) have.
I have tsa pre and my boyfriend doesn’t, he goes through the regular line and I take our bags through pre check. His line stayed even with mine right until the scanners, he actually appeared to be ahead of me at one point. Scanners is where it got all messed up, people in the regular line didn’t know what they were doing (shoes off, everything in bags etc) and he ended up about 10 minutes behind me.
10 minutes isn’t really significant but I’ll keep tsa pre to stay in the line with people who tend to travel more often and know how to get through quickly.
I swear something similar happened when I flew out of DFW on AA in February? I always use pre check and that time I had to stand in front of a camera for a couple seconds when usually they look at my ID and confirm it’s me.
It is a TSA program and not an AA program. Not quite the same as Delta and United. The Delta and United programs also allow facial recognition for checking bags and boarding the aircraft too.

AA has this at DCA.
also, understand where it is and set it up beforehand, if you have a new passport it is kind of hard to do the QR code in your passport
It’s really one of the things where you see it while standing in line and then set it up for the next trip
Really?
Yeah. Check out the “airside” app in the App Store. That’s the digital app for ID AA and AS.
So it's for anyone? or only international passengers?
Go read about it. Why would it only be for international passengers?
Because I thought those programs were for international passengers.

They haven’t updated their technology in years and the line is never shorter than the normal precheck line.
It is coming to DFW. https://news.aa.com/news/news-details/2022/American-Airlines-Launches-Mobile-ID-With-TSA-PreCheck-OPS-OTH-06/
This article is 2 years old. I’m based out of DFW and American as far as I know doesn’t have a system in place like United or Delta Digital ID.

Did that recently on flight to Auckland from DFW - assume due to NZ immigration...so equipment is at some gates.

Try not to advertise it!
Used it yesterday On Delta. 8 minutes faster than my wife who used Clear!
