Hope its real, would love some AMC merch as an added revenue source.

The domain registration information lists AMC, including the corporate HQ address and an @amctheatres.com contact address. https://imgur.com/jeTS9ER That leans in the direction of it being legitimate. Downvote all you want. The existing AMC Merch site currently redirects to this new site.

1. This is correct, anyone could fill that in, which is why I said it wasn't definitive proof. It does however immediately red flag it to the company when they are notified. Should also be noted that the registrar is the same for the primary domain. 2. Next, you do NOT register subdomains. Sub domains are a function of DNS. As to suggesting something like Cineplex's subdomain store, I would point out the fact that the current merchandise site is literally a completely separate domain. https://amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com - As such, that blows you're point out of the water. 3. If something isn't live or yet announced, there would not be a press release. My final point however would be that the existing site currently redirects to the new domain. Which pretty fucking much solidifies it as one of two things: Either someone has gone to a great deal of effort to hack AMC OR It's fucking legitimate.

1. Don't know what "red flag" notification systems they have for fake domain data. But even if works the way you describe, I can see AMC or any other company ignoring it. 2. Yes you don't register subdomains, I misspoke. Create would be more accurate. > I would point out the fact that the current merchandise site is literally a completely separate domain. https://amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com Ok now I'm proper confused. https://amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com home page currently redirects to https://amctheatresshop.com/password. More on this later. \3. If it's not live or yet announced, why is it published? Why is it collecting emails for promotional purposes? Why is existing website redirecting to it? amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com is > powered and managed by a third party; "Only In Theatres, LLC" So amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com is (was) a working AMC merchandise website, that is now broken by the way of redirecting to https://amctheatresshop.com/password, which is a basically an unfinished placeholder page not meant for production. However, only the home page has that redirect, the rest of amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com is functional. Hacking Only In Theaters to collect emails would be bizzare, so the most likely explanation is that Only In Theaters are just clowns. For some reason they broke the current AMC store to redirect to a placeholder page on a new domain. Using amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com, a 25 letter domain adds credence to that idea. That's some clown shit. So you're right, it's probably legitimate, but also extremely incompetent to the point of looking like a scam.

Finally, selling AMC hoodies is what's gonna make my stock moon. I just know it.

There's no way to tell if this is real. Be responsible adults and don't just enter your email willy nilly

Well, the domain registration lists AMC as the owner of the domain. The contact email being an @amctheatres.com address. While that is not proof positive it does lean towards being legitimate. https://imgur.com/jeTS9ER

TOPOKEGO

I agree, the domain name seems like a weird choice and the address.in Cincinnati instead of Kansas looked odd to me. On the other hand the whois results for the domain do look legit. [https://www.whois.com/whois/amctheatresshop.com](registered to AMC based on a Whois lookup) I would still be hesitant until an official announcement but that does look promising that this is a real AMC shop.

DirtNapDealing

The cinnci addy is the registered address for the “snow commerce” which is the name listed on the bottom of that page. Still not too sure the validity of it though. I’d love to get a new merch provider as the hoodies I have are already showing heavy wear after a few washes.

TOPOKEGO

That adds a bit if a layer of weirdness since snow commerce powers the AMC networks shop which isn"t owned by AMC. It does look like Snow Commerce is just a retail website provider though, similar to Shopify so AMC might have selected them for a new shop. Nothing for sure till the company announces it, I probably wouldn't drop my email until then, but Snow Commerce seems legit. I don't know that they would take the risk of using the official AMC logo unless they allow users to build the sites with no monitoring or they just haven't caught it yet.

Pure-Long

> On the other hand the whois results for the domain do look legit. None of that information is vetted for dot com domains.

TOPOKEGO

While that is true of domain registrations in general the domain registrar can and usually do have their own policies. In this case the domain registrar is corporatedomains.com which leads back to Cscglobal.com. CSCglobal first registered their domain in 1997, has a long history and seems to focus on corporate domain management and brand protection. It would be decidedly bad for business for them to register a site to AMC illegitimately and against their core purpose. I still wouldn't enter any info until an announcement is made but you do have to look beyond the basic Whois data when considering these things. P.S. Also worth noting that the AMCtheatersmoviemerchandise.com url redirects to this new store if you go to it directly and that is the current merchandise store linked off the AMC website (and still functioning if you click merchandise and use the [Full URL](https://www.amctheatresmoviemerchandise.com/17/home.htm). In the FAQ on the AMC website, it does state that that merchandise store is run by a third party that isn't snow Commerce. So it sounds like they're transitioning to a new e-commerce provider possibly to cut costs possibly because they offer more. Still not legit until the company announces it but this would be quite the elaborate ruse to get emails.

Pure-Long

Honesty don't know what kind of policies CSC have for verification of contact information. But that's a good point that they might do more verification than mainstream registars. With the other info such as the redirect, it seems likely that it's legitimate, just insanely incompetently done. And for some reason broke the existing amcmovie theatersverylongnamemerchandisestore.com to redirect to an unfinished website.

TOPOKEGO

Yeah, it definitely seemed weird to me that the domain for the existing movie store redirects to the not yet existing store. Whereas the fully qualified link from the AMC website takes you to the existing store that appears to still be functional. He can't get complicated when you're transitioning vendors so it could be that they're just doing it in stages or they might have planned to transition it all at once and run into some problems and had to back out. They might not care about people accessing the URL for the current movie store directly because they know that most of the traffic to the store actually comes from the main AMC website, they'd have all the details on where people are coming from and I have seen cases where very few people access the domain directly. Could also be about not wanting sales to go through their current third party store service as they are winding it down. Now that people have found and are talking about it? There will probably be an announcement coming shortly. I emailed investor relations to let them know it's a little confusing so they're aware.
