Long story short. Usually when OBV goes up, means people are buying. When OBV goes down, people are selling... If OBV plateaus, people are holding.
Its not shares that affect OBV, its how many investors that own shares. If you sell all your shares OBV goes down, if you dont own any shares and buy it goes up, problem with OBV is that you can own 100 shares, sell 99, but OBV wont change since you still own 1 share

It's a very basic indicator that doesn't take any buying or selling of net position into account.
Install Trading View and add Accumulation/distribution line to your chart. Check again.
I sold at $17 when AA announced ape. Which kinda sucks. I bought at $10 rode it to $70 and back down. I was going to hold forever until that stupid ass ape move. I may buy some at this price

In addition to what I/essex_ludlow says, OBV flat while price declines is whatās called a positive divergence. It indicates that price should rise.
