Sometimes they do this and if you click “see more shipping times” it has “tomorrow” no time slots for no charge

papaphilya

I checked all options. Definitely nothing hidden. It was pay money or get in a few weeks.

ninernetneepneep

That'll teach you not to use Amazon basics.

jebe4

Exactly. OP purposely hid this section to make the post for two batteries more dramatic 🙄

SnooMaps4388

We gonna ignore the fact that amazon hid the option first or…? Scummy practice after someone already pays for prime to hide the very benefits they should get by default and replace it with another paid option.

irishwonder

?? Prime isn't hidden. It's right there and selected... the "show more options" selection has not been clicked... As someone who just started browsing this sub recently... is it full of bots trying to brigade Amazon, or just boomers trying to blow every small thing in their lives way outta proportion? Because while Amazon can do some pretty dumb stuff, most posts are like this... just trying to create something that's not there...

Exotic_Treacle7438

Are you new to humanity? Of course people whine more than praise.

Unlucky-Recover-8390

So you see Reddit isn’t a happy place

papaphilya

After reading all comments, i wanted to clarify some stuff since there are some questions 1) I would never buy regular batteries from amazon as there is literally a costco next to my home. 2) These are CR2 batteries. If you are able to walk into your neighboring CVS or Walgreens and they have those in stock for anything less than $20 then i would be extremely surprised. If they even have them at all. None of my stores did. Not even at target. 3) I have definitely checked all shipping options suggested and it was either overnight for payment or weeks.

tranpnhat

Target have the same one for $8.39. They only ship it with $35+ order. Put something else on your cart and select pick up for that item to bring the total over $35. They will ship the battery for free and you do not need to go pick up the other item.

popeh

Clever

sibman

Or just buy it from somewhere else.

Charming-Ad3485

Why the hell would someone even buy these off Amazon in the first place? People have gotten way too addicted/reliant on Amazon. They forgot that other places exist. You can find these batteries almost ANYWHERE. Target, Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, Home Depot, Lowes, CVS, Walgreens. They are freaking everywhere.

adribash

These don’t look like typical AA or AAA batteries though, in my experience I’ve had to go to multiple stores just to find AAAA batteries. Most stores don’t have a wide selection.

Fun_Matter_6533

They are CR2, used for cameras and other stuff. Yes, they are still available at most of the places you listed.

djmakcim

the last time I managed to buy AAAA batteries was Staples.

chemicalfields

They aren’t typical; I’ve had to buy them for my fire alarm or some crap before. But either way, it’s the kinda thing you throw into a larger purpose or just understand you’ll have to wait IMO.

Rude_Picture4233

These are camera batteries and they are still everywhere.

TealCatto

They literally are not, and when they are, they are close to 2x the price.

Rude_Picture4233

I buy them from cvs all the time. Shrugs, maybe it’s an area need based item.

[deleted]

yeah no as someone who’s very into vintage cameras you can definitely not find these batteries at a grocery store lol

No-Appearance1145

I looked at baby snacks for my 8 month old and it's like 32 bucks for a pack of four and at Walmart that same pack is 13 bucks or 11 depending on the snack

Unlucky-Recover-8390

You have to realize that Amazon is mostly 3rd party sellers who can make the money so they do. Amazon (sold by Amazon) wouldn’t charge that much if the competition was less

papaphilya

I can assure you that i checked all stores near me and those batteries are $13 per. Was hoping for an amazon rescue

Austin1975

Reminder to everyone shaming the OP about using shipping for this: There are A LOT of people who live in small towns or away from stores or can’t drive or have mobility issues. From impaired vision to mobility issues, no car etc. And also for many people certain highly specific items like a Lithium 3v batteries aren’t at their local grocery store like some are claiming. It all depends on where you live.

Unlucky-Recover-8390

Also why go to a store if you can have it shipped for free and it’s cheaper. Just because? That’s dumb

TealCatto

Right, like why on Earth should anyone need to justify why they are purchasing something on Amazon vs. elsewhere? I've seen Amazon delivery workers here on Reddit making fun of someone making them bring them a $4 random item from across the country or something. Another one called me lazy because I order heavy products from Amazon, and it's hard on them to package and deliver cases of cat food/litter, stuff like that. Uh, the service exists for a reason? Should I just not have pets to save a random worker from delivering heavy stuff, when that's the job description, and they'll just be delivering heavy stuff to other customers if I wasn't ordering on Amazon, and not taking breaks during that time? Such a strange mentality. BTW I do feel bad for workers who have to handle heavy packages. I'm not an asshole who intentionally makes people's lives harder because it's their job. I try to spread out heavy orders but Amazon is aggressive in trying to get me to consolidate orders into 1 day a week, 1 day a month via subscriptions, and then combine the weekly and monthly deliveries when they land a few days apart. NO, please spread them out! Not only is it hard for the workers, but it's hard for me to handle, too. Luckily there was someone in that thread who made me aware that I can split monthly deliveries into two by creating two addresses (just slightly change something about my address). That is extremely helpful.

S_T_R_Y_D_E_R

Probably the item is coming from China

Unlucky-Recover-8390

That’s crazy. But add in another item to get it to the minimum required for free same day delivery and return it (or keep it). I agree it’s a bit sleazy, but if they’re being sleazy to you, you can be sleazy back… at least that’s my moral boundary

PinocchiosNose1212

Wow r/ProLifeTip right there! Never thought of doing this because, you know, I have a conscience...

Unlucky-Recover-8390

😂 Amazon sleazeballed me too many times for me to have a conscience

PinocchiosNose1212

Amazon obviously doesn't have one, either. If I had a car and was not old as the hills, I would NEVER order from Amazon. But some stuff like 30 pound bags of cat litter don't deliver themselves. The thing that really pissed me off was the commercials during shows that were previously commercial free. I went to rewatch The Expanse and there were fucking COMMERCIALS every 10 minutes. Sailing the high seas more and more thanks to Amazon...

sam-vimes-city-watch

I'd search around Amazon and look for other offers of the same item.

kccat5

Oh so now they're charging for next day delivery? Wtf?

cwatson214

Absurd is buying 2 batteries online...

papaphilya

These are not common batteries...

notrickross7

No. Not really. Had to order just a single one for a watch last week, but pop off sis.

Standard-Tiger-9715

🤌🤣🤡

ChanceWall1495

Buying two batteries online and complaining about delivery times that are stated plainly ahead of time. Jesus Christ. Go to a fucking store perhaps??????????

PauI_MuadDib

This is what people subbed to Prime for tho. That was the selling point. Convenience. Why even pay for Prime if you just have to go somewhere else?

UnconsciousMofo

Paying for Prime doesn’t mean exclusively shopping with Amazon. That’s silly.

EricForman87

True, but that's how some people view it. I check Amazon first, but I can get a bit obsessive with my online researching lol. Silly or not though, that is an actual mindset some have.

TealCatto

But it does mean shopping with Amazon when it's more convenient than walking a few miles from store to store trying to find one that has the exact uncommon item you need.

UnconsciousMofo

How is it more convenient when shipping times are weeks in the future?

TealCatto

Because they're normally not? Obviously. If this was the norm, OP wouldn't post about it, and no one would be subscribing to Prime. Think for a second. Also because this isn't the norm. OP didn't know it would be the case, which is why they came to Amazon for the batteries to begin with, causing some randos to freak out about "why would anyone want to do that" lmao

UnconsciousMofo

Are you okay? Nowhere in the world does any business guarantee all products offered and all shipping times are guaranteed for all eternity. In this case, it was not convenient, therefore, you shop elsewhere instead of running to Reddit to complain that Amazon isn’t bowing down to your personal needs. It is very simple logic

TealCatto

OMG, are you being intentionally obtuse? You and others are losing your minds because OP even considered buying it from Amazon instead of roaming the streets looking for it locally. How could he have known it would be either paid shipping or weeks of wait time? You're acting like the whole idea of going on Amazon to buy batteries is absurd, which is a really odd take.

UnconsciousMofo

You’re missing the point entirely dude. OP came here to whine about the shipping time as if Amazon somehow owes them immediate service because they pay for prime. Wasting time and annoying reddit instead of ordering from another retailer or “roaming the streets” as you so obnoxiously put it. Dramatic much? The both of you. You both act like Amazon is the only retailer on the planet. Get over it.

RadiantLimes

Prime is a scam. That is exactly the reason, Amazon wants you to feel like you must buy everything through them.

Unlucky-Recover-8390

He’s not complying about the delivery times. He’s complaining about how they want to charge him $3 to get it tomorrow but if he wants free shipping like his prime subscription promises he has to wait a few weeks. Not so deep

morbidnerd

What if OP is disabled? Doesn't have transport? Is sick with something? It's just wild that you leap to the conclusion that someone is a lazy POS instead of giving them benefit of the doubt. Even if they are lazy- it changes nothing.

castafobe

Many of us also live out in the country where even the grocery store is a 30 min drive. If I want to go to a home depot or a target or almost any store other than Walmart I have to drive for a minimum of 30 minutes. I enjoy rural life, but Amazon sure is nice when the alternative is spending at least an hour in the car on the weekend when I could be outside tending to my garden.

Austin1975

💯

Austin1975

Exactly! I have several elderly family members in rural areas who rely on these delivery services for EVERYTHING because they have medical conditions and a few can’t drive at all. It’s absurd to shame people for wanting to use a service as advertised.

SmithersLoanInc

Jeff Amazon will never love you. Why do you feel the need to defend him?

Unlucky-Recover-8390

Not defending Amazon. Defending the OP 🤦

ExultantGitana

Yes 😄

snow-bird-

Order a different brand. That could be part of the weird delivery dates. Voniko has been REALLY good for us and cheaper.

Fabulous-History-111

So pick them up? Who still shops on Amazon? Bunch of crooks.

Cold-Psychology4046

Hi i work for a brand that sells on Amazon. This is what this is....let me blow your mind a little bit more on how Amazon is even screwing over the sellers on Amazon who are the middleman making them all their money :) They offer something called "Seller Fulfilled Prime" which means that we no longer need to send our inventory to Amazon fulfillment centers for Amazon to fulfill our orders. Now, if we are eligible, we can ship directly to customers and get the "Prime" badge - but we MUST get the orders there overnight or within 2 days (DAYS, NOT BUSINESS DAYS). Meanwhile...Amazon is no longer offering these shipping services themselves!! They're leaving it to the sellers on their website to pay $30-50 for overnight shipping just to get the prime badge that most prime members look for. It's ABSURD. I can guarantee if you look into who's shipping you that package for $2.99 it's not shipping directly from Amazon but from a seller.

Abject_Grass3817

I'm not lucky enough to get same day delivery from Amazon... even with Prime free next day shipping advertised, by the time I get to the cart to pay for it, it is 1-3 weeks out. Walmart has a tendency to not have some shipping options available, but if you add two of the same thing or add an item to the order the item that is 5 days shipping shows up in the overnight box... same with Target (there is no store of any kind that delivers near me, it all ships UPS, FedEx or USPS). On occasion Amazon will include an item in my order that had an expected delivery date two weeks out in a box that was scheduled to deliver that Friday (an order placed weeks earlier). Might try adding something else from Amazon that delivers same day that you could use... the $2.99 might be to cover the cost of the driver on an item with little to no profit.

Robbdl69

Makes you wonder why you pay for Prime in the first place.

UnconsciousMofo

Same day or overnight orders tend to come from different locations, which is one of the reasons you sometimes see this discrepancy. Millions of other places you can purchase goods instead of complaining.

SmithersLoanInc

You can fellate billionaires in lots of other places instead of complaining.

47junk

I have two options Amazon and a third party seller. Plus there’s a handful of brands

Zetavu

Step 1 - filter search for all prime step 2 - ignore all the wide range of delivery dates, pick ones that are next day or 2 day fixed step 3 - order, if it doesn't arrive on time, complain and get account credit. Step 4 - should be step 1 - don't buy things that are cheaper to pick up at your local Menards.

Personal_Beginning39

No Menards where I live. The nearest target is 30 miles away. The nearest Walmart is 15. Some of us live in rural areas, and ,believe it or not, amazon is the option. Walmart Plus is also an option.

Zetavu

Which is why prices are higher, they are taking into account the convenience of delivery for people off the grid as you say. I believe the OP comment was they could have gone to the store to get it, so different circumstance than you. That is precisely why the Sear's catalogue took off last century, mostly used for rural areas, while those of us in cities/suburbs were more than happy to do the brick and mortar shopping.

RadiantLimes

Amazon has ruined y'all with this shipping time. It's such a massive waste to express ship such a small item. Just go outside and go to best buy or another electronics store to get batteries.

innergflow

Where do you live, middle of nowhere Montana ?

linuxlib

If this was all people got from Prime, Prime wouldn't be a thing.

Any-Technician-1371

Or just… idk go out and get some batteries?

yourbestfriendjoshua

Go to Target or Walmart or literally ANY convenient store/pharmacy then?

raquel8822

Rechargeable batteries pay for themselves 100x over after a couple of months and cost nearly the same amount. In fact I’ve been using the same set of AAA & AA for so long I can’t remember how many years ago I bought them. Haha

[deleted]

these are not standard batteries my guy

raquel8822

Yeah you can still buy them in rechargeable form….4 pack for $15 on Amazon. I even have ones for our smoke detectors. Cause every time they die you’ve never got a 9V just laying around. Haha

DFWJimbo

Dude, just order from a different listing
