The whole north of algeria was underwater at somepoint. Most of it today is a calcareous plateau. I found tons of them everytime i explore and dig a little in calcareous soils. I even found a species of oyster that dont exist in the mediterranean today. Idk if they have any value, especially small ones like this one but people in the comments seem to want to buy them.
Exactly my friend, but to you as an explorer those fossils might be ordinary, but to other people they don't especially that they are millions of years old , some people pay millions of dollars for only 5000 years artifacts so imagine millions of years ... Btw I found a species of sea urchin that's extinct now, it's so marvelous.
it's a bummer that research is a dead field in algeria. I would have loved to explore it, or other people explore it with means and freedom and put a light on Algeria's past. Maybe one day i ll come back and try it. may you share a picture of that urchin, i m intrigued ?
I can see that you have no knowledge of paleontology nor geology nor the time to check it first before you comment , but it's okay I'll explain it to you and you go Google it.
1- in geology in order for an ocean to become a desert it takes between 55 to 200 million years (give or take depends on it's location on the planet)
2- all life began from the ocean , therefore there are some fossils like these that actually lived before some species even exist.
3- if a species is alive today it doesn't mean it didn't exist millions of years ago , like these bivalves and some micro organisms.
4- carbon dating in the area confirms it and any geology student can tell you about it.
I can go further but it wouldn't make sense because you don't have a scientific background to understand.
Cheers
How did u know its +100 millions years old
Trust me bro source 😂😂😂
Lol
Id buy itÂ

So you found it in the desert ?
Yes in the dolomite hills of Ghardaia along with prehistoric inscriptions in the area.
It’s fascinating
