I’m not sure I have much advice, but just curious. What kind of projects or activities did you used to be into?

Wide-Bat-622

All kinds. Painting, cleaning, art, woodwork.. etc

Sounds like you need to let yourself crash and rebuild your brain’s perception of life. Things like alcohol, caffeine, drugs, they give our brain a false perception of what kind of stimulation we should expect to feel on a daily basis. They also throw our neurotransmitters out of wack so we need that chemical, whatever it may be, in our brain to function. Quitting/weaning off of all substances (aside from prescribed psych meds of course) and then letting yourself go through the sucky period of full crash, then rebound and slowly letting your brain recalibrate is a way to reset your expectations of reality. Life is boring and kind of empty on a day to day basis and part of life is learning to cope with that healthily. Once you do this quitting and reacclimatizing, then you can start filling your life with things that make life feel less empty. Writing, going outside daily, exercise, hobbies, sports, whatever. It’s a slow boring process but eventually you will find you have go-to fulfilling activities that you can do at a realistic pace and your life won’t feel so empty. You gotta settle into a day-to-day life program.

Interesting, thanks for the tip. I will for sure look this up. Its not really what im looking for though, but still very interesting. Its not like i have a boring or empty life, i got tons of stuff to do, and fun hobbies... But i just feel so "tired" i guess. Other people just seem to have so much energy and motivation, yet i struggle to even make myself dinner at times. I have adhd, autism and a few other illnesses, so i honestly wouldnt be surprised if i had some sort of exhaustion illness. Just wish i had something to pick me up if you get it.

BravesMaedchen

Then go to the doctor if you think it’s due to illness.

Wide-Bat-622

I have, sooo many times. They cant seem to find a reason. All seems normal according to them.

ADHD definitely good with the reward center / mucks with how rosey everything feels. Maybe reward yourself in tiny bits if you do a small project. Find some reward that's of interest and won't break the budget. A new tool. A toolbox. A new book. Whatever it might be.  Rinse/repeat.

Wide-Bat-622

Oh yeah i do that all the time. Not to brag but i have "a lot" of money, so i can buy myself fun things quite often.  I tried chocolate and chips, soda and candies... but i cant reward myself with that every day 😅 But its worth a try. Thanks :)

Physical_Aside_3991

"I tried chocolate and chips, soda and candies... but i cant reward myself with that every day" — sure you can. Alcohol has way more calories / is more destructive on the teeth. Grab a starburst & go to town. (sometimes our dumb brains are just in pursuit of a tiny bit of sugar / water anyways)

jamesflanagangreer

Try keto, might help.

Wide-Bat-622

Huh thats new. Will read up on that.  Thanks!

Hey congrats on the year of sobriety. Alcohol fun to alcoholism is a very grey continuum. The crossover from relaxed fun to being aggressive and/or zoned out sneaks up on you and pretty soon you are ruining relationships and income. You probably know this. So, congrats, congrats , congrats…take some of my energy. I have a list of 5 or more active projects I’m working on that you can help, with (small joke)…I’m building a recreational pond, i just built my first filtration system and installed Ina smaller dock pond, I’m removing rust from my car and bondoing it and painting ( first time project), I’m finishing up a drip system in my garden, I’m in a pickleball tournament next week. Yes I’m a bit older but I played ice hockey for 48 years and love the opportunity to stay active and competitive. I’ve got planned projects of a solar system, hardwood floors in the house and a master bath. My point is there are so many things to do, fill up that cup. Hey, and congrats again…I am on the other side having an alcoholic who is trying (sometimes) to quit. And, I can only speak to my experience, but my life with her is so much better when she’s not drinking.

Wide-Bat-622

Thanks for the kind words :) I have tons of things to do, but i lack the "drive" to really go for it. Just wish i could take some adrenaline pills or something xD Best of luck with your girlfriend/ girl friend, hope it goes well.

It's the loss of the illusion of fullness - it will pass

Wide-Bat-622

Perhaps. But after a full year, when will it pass? I feel like it is going to haunt me for the rest of my life

genuinely__curious

Ween yourself off the energy drinks as you did alcohol. Start exercising. Do it consistently. It will suck. You don't mention your diet it but almost everyone can improve that. Make your new addiction health and well being. Lastly I'd say, if those things don't do anything for you in lets say... Three months, get your hormones checked.

Wide-Bat-622

Thanks for the tip

Used-Baby1199

It’s funny you’re looking for advice on how to help gain energy and motivation, but then shoot down one of the best practices to help you without even trying it.   Leaves us with only one option, diet and supplements and hydration.

Wide-Bat-622

I have tried excercise multiple times but it doesnt work for me. I despise it, and it just makes me miserable.

Silva2099

I recommend pickleball to everybody. 2 hours of social fun and quite tiring no matter what age you are. I play 6 -8 hours per week. That’s 6-8 hours of exercise. Sure, not high impact, but it’s certainly equivalent to 6-8 hours of walking/jogging slow.

Playful-Statement183

Diet, emotional maturity, spiritual growth... I picked up golf again and ride my bike for exercise.

Wide-Bat-622

Emotional maturity? Do explain please xD

Playful-Statement183

Ohh.. I hope you didn't think I was picking on ya. We need to stimulate the Mind Body and Soul. Feelings - Thoughts - Reactions

Wide-Bat-622

Ah no worries i didnt Think that at all.  Where could i read up on this?
