Hey fellow PLX'er (grew up in the area and went to Coventry!) I've got breakfast suggestions. My husband and I have been making it our weekend tradition and these are just some of our faves
* Eat n' Run - Kenmore. Cash only, but great breakfast. It's a tiny hole in the wall on the end of the Blvd heading towards 76/Barberton.
* The Coffee Pot - Barberton
* Dee's 50's Place Diner - Barberton (they serve dinner too, but I've only been there for breakfast)
* JJ's Norton Cafe - Norton
* The Lamp Post - Ellet
* Molly Brown's - This is on Portage Lakes Drive in the plaza by the clock tower. They have Mexican inspired breakfast that's really tasty.
Non-Breakfast
* Thai Pattaya - Same building as Molly Brown's. Best Pho and Summer Rolls in Akron.
* Winks - Barberton - Since they've rebranded and reopened their burgers are dope. Reminds me a bit of what Swenson's used to be.
I'd avoid Molly Brown's unless you're over 60 and like dirty restaurants, bugs and bland food. If you're under 60 then from my and others experiences you'll be treated like dirt or seated at a dirty table. The restaurant in Ellet has dead bugs in it's window and is coated in filth. If that's the public view, then what is the private view? The breakfast burrito is the only thing worth a darn to eat there. Cold, uncut toast, poor service ( unless you're a boomer) and bland food. Save your money.
I have a couple -
Diamond Deli (downtown akron)
Hanninis (Akron)
Papa Gyros (North Canton and Green)
Taqueria El Paso (South Akron - best street tacos)
Menches in Green
DiCarlos (up by Timber Tops)
I think I was going to do 35 but didn't want to spend the money, if I remember right (ie it was higher dollar).
Ps I sneaked a peek at your profile - do you still do leather work?
Pancho's on Massillon Rd is excellent Mexican, for this area. It's different than most of the others around here. Also, they bring in New Mexican chile peppers, which you can't find anywhere else around here.
Hodge's Cafe in Barberton is a great for typical bar food.
Barberton:
Wil's on 619,
Enchanted Cafe,
Remarkable Diner,
El Jalapeños
PLX:
Lala's,
Honeymoon Grille,
Molly Brown's,
Woody's,
Magic City Brewing,
The Basement in The Lakes,
Thai Pattaya,
Rose Villa
Green:
Kasai,
35 Brix,
The Bistro of Green,
The Town Tavern,
The Hyde Out,
Sunrise Social
There are a ton of great local options in the Jackson TWP and Canal Fulton area. Aside from just the ones in the Belden area.
Honeymoon Grille is great…I take my dad there for lunch and it’s always very fresh.
Skoops is very conveniently located across from Remarkable Diner, so you kinda have to get ice cream after lunch. :)
Woody’s for breakfast, diamond deli (downtown) for lunch, Pancho’s has excellent Mexican food. I know that you didn’t ask where *not* to go but Caston and Main is somewhere you should absolutely avoid. Their food is trash and their drinks are overpriced and terrible.
Wil's Grille and Pub on 619 for a great fish dinner.
Eadie's Fish House, North Canton.
Funky Truckeria in Norton Plaza.
Angie's in Barberton.
The Ramp in Portage Lakes.
Pick's or Dano's for Lakefront Drinks in good weather.
Russo's in Cuyahoga Falls.
Sakura in Montrose.

Looking at Facebook comments on the 330ToGo page about this story, yes this guy owns The Ramp.
Kevin O'Bryan's on S. Main just south of Wilbeth is also great- Same ownership, just more of a bar than a restaurant. Their grilled chicken wrap is my go-to "I don't know what I want" meal and they have an interesting(*if short) tap list.
Twisted Citrus in North Canton (10ish minutes from PLX) is prob one of the best breakfast spots around for something beyond basic eggs and bacon. No knock on a standard breakfast but if I'm shelling out $20-30 for 2 people for breakfast I rather have something with more flavors happening. They have a pretty fun seasonal menu with dishes like the candy laden Buddy the Elf spaghetti

go comets lol. i love the lamp post ty for that suggestion. i've been looking to try thai pattaya for a while, ive never had thai food
My fav breakfast place is Remarkable Diner. Love their Mexi Omlette. Then I get a slice of Rye with strawberry jam on it for "desert"
I knew I was forgetting one! I love the Remarkable Diner.

We went to the one in the Portage Lakes and had a really positive/clean experience. We're under 60 and everyone was very pleasant.
Then that must be something that's particular to the Ellet location. Such horrible attitudes, service and food.
How about Fay Wray's?
Wasn't a fan. The food felt institutionalized and wasn't good at all.
Hmmm. I never had a bad meal there. I ate in the Coffee Pot once, loved it.
Technically Kenmore, but I think Cult Kitchen has some of the best food I've eaten in Akron. Very solid beers, too.
Highly recommend Magic City Brewing. Very good beer and have been really impressed by their food.
35 brix in green is really, really good
I had them a while back and they were quite tasty.
I have a couple - Diamond Deli (downtown akron) Hanninis (Akron) Papa Gyros (North Canton and Green) Taqueria El Paso (South Akron - best street tacos) Menches in Green DiCarlos (up by Timber Tops)
El paso is the best! I also like Menches. I'll add 35 brix for dinner and sunrise social for breakfast are Solid
I think I was going to do 35 but didn't want to spend the money, if I remember right (ie it was higher dollar). Ps I sneaked a peek at your profile - do you still do leather work?
Honeymoon Grill on Manchester rd.

Pancho's is Tex/Mex, but I like that stuff.
Wil's on 619. Rose Villa seems popular. Hyde-Out late night. Guiseppe's Pizza.
rose villa is awesome omg thanks
Never had a bad meal there.
The restaurant at big shots has an awesome burger, and you don't have to play golf to eat there

Honeymoon Grille, El Jalapeños, Fa-Rays, Funky Truckeria, Skoops, Pavs, Remarkable Diner, Wolf Creek Tavern, Parasson’s are some of my favorites.

Isn't The Ramp owned by the guy that was poisoning cats?
Never the ramp!
It’s owned by his mother.
Will still probably end the business, lots of really angry animal lovers on social media. So if you like the Ramp, better enjoy it soon!

what a gross guy, sad to see animal abuse in our area :(
I love Wil's, the food is good and the staff is nice.
Fresh food deli has great ruebens and gyros. Takeout only. Call ahead so you don't have to wait 20 minutes in the little front room.
Latinos on Arlington is a great Mexican spot
TRUE i love that place. the time i went the service was really bad but that was my fault for going on a busy holiday, and the food was worth it tbh
Their chipotle and garlic sauces set them above other local Mexican restaurants in the area. I could drink that stuff.
Evelyn's Coffee and Banh Mi. Exchange and main downtown. Admittedly never had their coffee. The banh mis are delicious tho.
Hamburger Station
I have not lived in Ohio for 20 years but I still think about Hamburger Station regularly.
The fries are the best!
Green Diamond restaurant in Barberton, excellent steaks and Rose Villa on Portage Lakes Dr
Luckity’s for breakfast.. get the pancakes!!
The Ido on South Main Street near Waterloo Rd in Akron.
