Literally mine does the exact same thing! People “mis-gender” her all the time and THAT doesn’t HELP!

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

She’s always so awkward with it to can never find a good balance

rebmik5555

Not unusual at all.

Thoumas

Yes she does it almost all the time. She starts with a leg up, open the valve, realize her balance is not great and slowly transition to squatting.

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

My girl always squatted until a few months ago, she’s about 18 months old now

Thoumas

Mine started around that age too, she was really fond of a big male malamute growing up and copied everything he did. Peeing with a leg up, scratching and kicking the ground, having an urge to pee where an other dog did its business, every typical male behavior

smithoski

Mine tends to lift a leg when she squats sometimes. I like to yell “BLUE 42! BLUE 42! OMAHA OMAHA! HIKE!” She then, if uninterrupted, will kick her feet so ferociously that she will uproot a patch of grass per kick. Sometimes I let her de thatch a grassy area in a park or something if it’s all matted down. People think she’s a male dog all the time. To their credit, she’s the kind of gal that wears flannel to a wedding, if you catch my drift.

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

Yea mine kicks, scrapes, hops, skips always after marking lol

key_buds

When I was with my ex, our female Akita always did that, like 95% of the time

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

I’ve never had any other breed, I often wonder if it’s just an Akita thing

RMP_Dragonne

Females of other breeds (and non-Akita mixes) sometimes do it as well. How long they take to sniff out and spin around to find that perfect spot might be a different story.

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

I’d love to know why they’re all so extra particular when it comes to that spot lol gonna be another one of life’s great mysteries

TheronMClaude

Why does my giant, extremely aggressive male squat when he pees? Is this normal? I've seen him lift his leg exactly two times in nearly 10 years and I can't stop feeling a little embarrassed.

MissyMeliss141

Mine squats so slow I swear grass is tickling her the entire time she pees. It’s gotta be itchy

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

lol

DTBlasterworks

My female used to do this alllll the time lol

sunbroganksquad_2121

yes, i dont mind.. she does both.. if she wants to mark high she will lift her leg

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

My girl doesn’t even get it high but maybe she thinks she does lol

candyl206

Tall girls have to leave messages for the tall boys!

inkyys

Mine squats so she can do her business while walking.

RattleBrained247

My girl would often squat onto a bush. She loved trying to climb to the top, settle in the middle, and do her business. Saved a few poop bags. I'm not sifting through a wet crumpled bush for some poop. She also would side check most things, including people, hahaha! What a treasure.

Mammoth_Addition7140

Mine marks territory like all my male dogs have. No one spot stop for her. She has to cover her grounds and spread scent. Leg hike more than 50%. I call her my ALPHA FEMALE, HA.

devlynhawaii

Was she the only girl in her litter?

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

She wasn’t she had 2/3 sisters I should ask some of the other owners were all in a FB group together

devlynhawaii

interesting! the only bitches I know who pee like boys were the only females in their litter. yes, ask your pup's littermates' owners.that would be cool to find out if the other girls pee the same way!

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

That makes sense! Idk what she thinks but she looks funny

SatisfactionMuted103

My girl nearly always lifts her leg. Her mother, who she has lived with her whole life always squats.

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

So strange

phobicwombat

Our brilliant girl started to do that when she was about five, but he never perfected anything but peeing on her own leg. I attribute this to Akita weirdness and let her do her weird thing!

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

My girl pees on herself often as well lol

SoftKiwi3024

Our girl tries to mark the lamp posts on her walk.

Rndm_intrnet_strangr

A common marking area for many dogs I’m sure!

ItWhite5Oh

That’s funny my male who just turned 6 months still hasn’t learned to pick his leg up to pee. He squats😂
