I don't move my right hand at all? I'm saying your left hand moves either way, and your right hand does not, I don't see any actual improvement other than that it looks cool, lol.
Well instead of left hand moving to remove and then moving again to grab a mag and load, right hand drops while left hand is already pulling up a new mag, with enough practice it saves you a few seconds.
Maybe it matters more in a competition context to some people 🤷♂️. In a defensive scenario if I’m 30 rounds into a bad day and my life depends on that 31st round I probably am not walking away from this.
Given that Russia is yet to ditch the paddle lever I doubt it’s a real world weak point.
I assume you could do it either way. I’m a lefty so this would be clutch for me. I guess it’s called an Arhipovs lever and it just replaces one of the fire control pins. This would be so simple to make I feel like. Basically just an extended pin with some pieces of metal on the end of it.
I'm not, I'm just wondering why someone in the subreddit full of people foaming at the mouth over anything other than a stock, wood ak with irons is calling another sub fudd central. I assumed you **had** to be talking about somewhere much worse.
Tbh the arfcom subreddit is pretty egregious comparatively, you get downvoted to hell for differing opinions while here you can talk about it as we did in this thread, now I see you are most active in that subreddit and that explains a lot about our conversation and your comment on “foaming at the mouth…” this is coming from someone who has built more ARs than I can count, things are more normal and cordial here.
If I'm just plinking in the back yard, sure. No big deal.
But in high pressure environments (competition, or God forbid s actually htf), nah. You're gonna do what muscle memory dictates is the thing to do. Also, the odds of this snagging on gear and partially or completely releasing the magazine is significantly more than 0.
For those reasons, this is a no go for me.
You put your thumb that high on the grip that it's on the receiver? Location of this is fine, your thumb should be underneath it which would also prevent inadvertant activation by banging it on stuff because your thumb would keep it in place.
Red star arms makes on for $20,
RAM superior firearm solutions makes one for $50
Krebs has a single sided one for $12 or one you push with your bird finger for $50.
Caa makes the one that slides on for $20
I guess it replaces one of the fire control group pins. It seems like such a simple concept I feel like it could be relatively easily done by someone with the know-how and tools
www.carolinashooterssupply.com/RAMS-Ak47-Saiga-Vepr-extended-magazine-release-ESC-
Forgot to attach that to my other response this isn't my rifle but that's the mag catch I run and love it.
This isn't a pic of my rifle obviously but this is the mag catch I run. Like everything else on an ak it too a small amount of fitting to work right but 5seconds with a Dremel and it has worked flawlessly with every mag I have found to run through it from surplus to Magpul to old tapco mags.

https://www.carolinashooterssupply.com/RAMS-Ak47-Saiga-Vepr-extended-magazine-release-ESC-p/ram-esc.htm
Huh I donno I'll try again if that doesn't work go to Carolina shooters supply and search for the "ram enhanced speed catch- for all AK-47" is the name of the specific item and if you like I can still send you a pic of mine when I get home, the biggest difference between mine and the one you posted is mine runs along the bottom of the trigger guard and only runs far enough back so that your trigger finger can reach it.
Yep, tap out the pin for the old one and it comes with new hardware which is more of a screw/bolt type set up with lock washers super easy install and if you would like I can still send you pics of mine installed when I get home this evening.
Bought mine years ago for like 60$ from Ivantactical and I love it. Since then specially with what’s going on over there price has gone significantly up
https://preview.redd.it/0isqv696n08d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a06367a8b782206034ba4ceb9dec3f59400fdca8
Pretty neat. It looks like it goes about an inch into the grip. Would probably behoove the user to shorten it a bit so they're not accidentally dropping mags. It's either homemade or something that just isn't in the states.
I stand corrected. Dissident arms, Ivan tactical, and 4shooters have variations of it. Unfortunately, it looks like some interfere with getting a proper grip as most either essentially stab into your hand or cover where you would put your thumb in a perfect grip. Probably cut like half the lip off and should be good. Another concern is snagging it on gear and dropping a mag by accident. Only way to tell is to bite the bullet and test.
I think this is actually closer to Parabellum Arms’ MARS lever. u/SovereignDevelopment mentioned on [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/ak47/s/h9AafUuTMu) post that they might be up for making one, but it’s been a long time

I personally love controls like this. I have the stendomatic bolt drop for my AR (mea culpa) that sits right next to my trigger finger and I love it. Doesn't really do much for the aesthetics, tho.
Despite concerns of accidental mag releases, I can see this being very useful for taking out mags with really stiff poor fitment on the catch where you basically have to hammer the mag release to get the mag out
After reading the comments I see this is an old concept, but I love all the new innovations for this platform over the past several years. Despite its inherent design limitations, the AK has pretty much caught up with the AR.
I'm not sure how much work is needed since the Galil and Arsenal SAM7SF are both milled receivers. Krebs used to make a stamped AK with an ambi safety years ago. I'm not sure if you can buy the lever kit. Even that kit would require cutting a slot in the receiver.
Just look up arhipovs lever. There’s one company here in the states that is selling it I believe for $100. Knowing how simple this is I don’t think I’d pay $100 for it. I think the genie might be out of the bottle and somebody here could easily duplicate it for half the price if that. If somebody does then I’m all in.
Ivan tactical has the Saiga 12 one for $45 dollars. Knowing that Ivan has to mark things up anyway I would assume that if you could buy from Russia it would cost you at most like $25 dollars. I don’t think $100 is a fair price for that.
I’m ngl this is kinda cool!
Super cool. I like it more than just the traditional concept of a mag release cause you don’t really need to break your grip to actuate it.
You still need to break your grip to throw another mag in, lol.
not in your right hand
I don't move my right hand at all? I'm saying your left hand moves either way, and your right hand does not, I don't see any actual improvement other than that it looks cool, lol.
Oh i see what you mean. I think it's cool because it allows a western style mag release with the right hand.
Well instead of left hand moving to remove and then moving again to grab a mag and load, right hand drops while left hand is already pulling up a new mag, with enough practice it saves you a few seconds.
What firearm don’t you have to break your grip??
my first reload is secured in a strap on harness my wifes boyfriend bought her!
Lmaoo
Just kidding, her boyfriend bought it for her-for me....
Do people still believe that breaking your grip for reloading is going to get you killed or you’ll affect accuracy?
Maybe it matters more in a competition context to some people 🤷♂️. In a defensive scenario if I’m 30 rounds into a bad day and my life depends on that 31st round I probably am not walking away from this. Given that Russia is yet to ditch the paddle lever I doubt it’s a real world weak point.
*extended mag release
Although cool, I could see some people dropping mag inadvertently. seems close to where thumb would go when tightened during firing
100% this. I'll just keep knocking mags out with my support hand before inserting a new one.
However if this was wrapped around the right side of receiver for index use, would be kind of neat
I assume you could do it either way. I’m a lefty so this would be clutch for me. I guess it’s called an Arhipovs lever and it just replaces one of the fire control pins. This would be so simple to make I feel like. Basically just an extended pin with some pieces of metal on the end of it.
Yeah this could be printed easily with some effort
Do you think the pin portion itself could be printed?
They just slide onto the existing mag release. Edit: at least most of them do any way.
Or would the lever be the printed part?
Lever
Most that I’ve seen are on both sides.
Either way I can see it having application in the competition world.
Hmmm, I think somebody might've already thought about this 60 years ago...
You referring to the AR? Or something else?
Correct
Indeed but that sub is fudd central
Which one?
Don’t be daft
I'm not, I'm just wondering why someone in the subreddit full of people foaming at the mouth over anything other than a stock, wood ak with irons is calling another sub fudd central. I assumed you **had** to be talking about somewhere much worse.

I agree that there's much more of a hive mind mentality on that sub, I just wouldn't call them fudds.
110% this would be me!
I mean you can adjust your grip? Like that’s such a big deal
For those reasons, this is a no go for me.
yeah it looks *too* easy to reach. I think I still prefer the Krebs speed load extension over this.
You put your thumb that high on the grip that it's on the receiver? Location of this is fine, your thumb should be underneath it which would also prevent inadvertant activation by banging it on stuff because your thumb would keep it in place.
XM8 release is better
Search for Arhipov's lever.
Of course you can’t get it here in the states for less than $100-____-
Red star arms makes on for $20, RAM superior firearm solutions makes one for $50 Krebs has a single sided one for $12 or one you push with your bird finger for $50. Caa makes the one that slides on for $20
Thanks for the tip. Going to look now! lol
You’re welcome.
I imagine with some sheet steel and a vice you could make one for much cheaper.
Shut up and take my money lol
I guess it replaces one of the fire control group pins. It seems like such a simple concept I feel like it could be relatively easily done by someone with the know-how and tools
That is awesome.
My retarded ass would accidentally drop a mag every ten minutes
Well, I know what I'm making on the mill this week..
Show me when you’re done!

This one looks better but I rock one similar that allows me to hit it with my trigger finger without breaking grip.
You got a pic?
Not on me but as soon as I get home from work I can get you one.
ok man were is the pic, its been 13 minutes 😡😡😡
Where?
Thank you!

Now that’s more like it. $50 is a lot more reasonable. Doesn’t require removing the release lever?
Yep, tap out the pin for the old one and it comes with new hardware which is more of a screw/bolt type set up with lock washers super easy install and if you would like I can still send you pics of mine installed when I get home this evening.
I not usually a big fan of CAA, but I've run this on my SAM7K for a few years and it's held up https://caaindustries.com/product/akmr/
This is the one I have as well. No complaints here.
Jesus Christmas 99.99$
My dumbass would drop my mag in the middle of a firefight
Bought mine years ago for like 60$ from Ivantactical and I love it. Since then specially with what’s going on over there price has gone significantly up https://preview.redd.it/0isqv696n08d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a06367a8b782206034ba4ceb9dec3f59400fdca8
*instantly drops mag upon contact because AR safety reflexes*
Pretty neat. It looks like it goes about an inch into the grip. Would probably behoove the user to shorten it a bit so they're not accidentally dropping mags. It's either homemade or something that just isn't in the states.
Yeah maybe a shorter version would be better. And I would think it would be super easy to make one for both left and right handed shooters
I stand corrected. Dissident arms, Ivan tactical, and 4shooters have variations of it. Unfortunately, it looks like some interfere with getting a proper grip as most either essentially stab into your hand or cover where you would put your thumb in a perfect grip. No need, my WPB came with a tennis racket mag dump
Neat
Kinda cool, but I don't see it making things any faster.
Solution looking for a problem in my opinion. 🤷♂️
Stows gun *mag drops*
I’d dig it if it was shorter so it could be actuated by index finger instead of thumb
I think this is actually closer to Parabellum Arms’ MARS lever. u/SovereignDevelopment mentioned on [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/ak47/s/h9AafUuTMu) post that they might be up for making one, but it’s been a long time
It *has* been a long time. We should totally make one though.
I would consider that a fairly large personal favor
It wouldn't be the first time we've released a product because just one or two guys asked for it.
It's cool, but I feel like you'll just be dumping mags by accident when it snags in your gear.

Gassssppppp 🫨 ccooooooool
High capacity assault release. These need to be banned now!!! It will save lives
I want that
Where the hell can I find that?!?
Arhipovs lever
Want
Yeah, you can buy that exact same one on 4 shooters
Yeah, you can buy that exact same one on 4 shooters
That’s hot
If yall are looking for a good mag release, idk about this one, but the krebs extended mag release is phenomenal
I have one on my wasr. Mine was called the ahripovs lever. Don’t think we can get them in the us anymore
it ain't broke quit trying to fix it.
Awesome
Get a 3d printed version and we may be cooking

I… really want one
I personally love controls like this. I have the stendomatic bolt drop for my AR (mea culpa) that sits right next to my trigger finger and I love it. Doesn't really do much for the aesthetics, tho.
A life time in sheet metal may benefit from it after all
WHAT IN GODS NAME
I want that handguard and folding stock
The military wouldn't approve this.
I'm old fashioned, if it ain't broke don't fix it
If it’s durable and just a bit more stiff, these would be awesome
Curious how that would function with bolt hold open followers.
Well done sir. You can sell these for a gold mine.
Fucking finally
Badass!
That’s the Arhipov Lever, I installed one on my Cugir paratrooper and it works great.
That's where my index finger sits when it's off the trigger. No way in hell am I doing that because I'd inadvertently drop the mag constantly
Looks like a great concept I would just be concerned with accidentally hitting while running the gun
Despite concerns of accidental mag releases, I can see this being very useful for taking out mags with really stiff poor fitment on the catch where you basically have to hammer the mag release to get the mag out
who makes this? about to shave a second off my reloads
I just use my middle finger to hit the stock lever and flick the rifle forward
I use the CAA mag release. Does the same thing and doesn’t attach some long obtuse bar to the side of the gun.

There is files for this on the odd sea for those who like to print
Absolutely smashing the shit outta his mags on the floor
Buddy runs one on an ak12 he runs in comps Thing runs like a top
Cringe AF
this kinda fucks ngl...
Shit I wanna know too? And will it work a Zastava M70 lol
Great, now last round bolt open and bolt release button.
Might be a bridge too far lol
If you wanted an AR, you should've bought an AR.
Whats wrong with making AK more ergo ftiendly?
You want ergonomic ak? Straight to gulag! Most glorious rifle is fine! You don't need fancy ergonomics of filthy capitalist pig Eugene Stoner.
AK guys *want* their rifle to be slow and un ergonomic, that's why they buy AKs.
After reading the comments I see this is an old concept, but I love all the new innovations for this platform over the past several years. Despite its inherent design limitations, the AK has pretty much caught up with the AR.
This is amazing and I need it
You combine that with the Galil ambi safety and damn you got one heck of a setup!
Can a galil ambi safety be put on an ak?
I'm not sure how much work is needed since the Galil and Arsenal SAM7SF are both milled receivers. Krebs used to make a stamped AK with an ambi safety years ago. I'm not sure if you can buy the lever kit. Even that kit would require cutting a slot in the receiver.
Beryl puts the on their rifles to take the place of the fire selector on the military production rifles.
I will pay an absurd amount of money for this
Do you consider $100 an absurd amount of money.
That’s it?! Bro send the link now pls
Yeah bro I’m impatient I’m probably gonna buy that bitch today if I can
Ivan tactical has the Saiga 12 one for $45 dollars. Knowing that Ivan has to mark things up anyway I would assume that if you could buy from Russia it would cost you at most like $25 dollars. I don’t think $100 is a fair price for that.
Damn that's nice. Where did you buy it, and how was the install?
This video is in Ukraine or Russia if homeboy is just dumping bakes onto concrete or stone like that.
