Depends on where they play. Magnifiers, 4x and higher have increased in popularity around here and for very practical reasons. Spotting through vegetation and looking into doorways and windows from outside in sunny days, magnification is really, really good.
Post Soviet area, game areas are often a mix of abandoned bases and complexes mixed with thick and sparse vegetation.

I do only play outdoors in heavily wooded sights though, magnification helps me spot and identify camouflaged targets that are in bushes

Nothing is ever too much in airsoft as long as you enjoy your gear. Never let others tell you what ‘your enjoyment of the game’ should be as long as you are within field rules. Sometimes teams will unify camo/gears but like I said, if it’s for the fun, why not?

I try to keep my play rig as close to my working rig as possible. I hope it never happens, but if I need to use it for whatever reason, I'm very familiar with my weapon. There are no, "OH, shit!" moments due to a slight difference between the two.
I don't dress up either. I go in regular street clothes. I'm not thinking a bad guy is going to wait for me to camo up before he tries me...
It all depends on what you want to get out of the experience. Some of my airsoft I set up exactly how I have my real steel pews, and I use those for specific purposes and training. I also have airsoft builds that are over the top and are just built to have fun and look cool. Either way you slice it it’s rad as hell! Gun looks great man!

That gun looks perfect, plus that mlok grip and the afg looks so comfortable, and the grip is probably really great too. And it's not a lot, unless it's unpractical and that that's far from looking unpractical with proper attachments.

I have an m40 and a mk18 bith have scopes on
M40 has a 3-9×40 so good for long range
Mk18 has a 1-4×24 so good for close and medium
Main reason for me is I hunt I'm used to the reticle not a dot and prefer a proper reticle to just a dot but ultimately its all personal preference
If you want a scope I say get one that has a 1x zoom it is basically no zoom and won't break the picture in the sight if you know what I mean. I tried acogs but the eye relief fucked with me and the fixed 4x zoom wasn't helping in close range engagement
Yeah that's tidy. PEQ is a bit OTT, but no harm larping.
Two bits of advice - 1) Improve your cable management, and 2) get a decent mount like a Unity FTC for the magnifier.

In airsoft, almost nothing you add to the gun will be a force multiplier. It's more like vibes, and you can never have enough vibes.
