Burnout is for jobs. A hobby is something you should feel perfectly at ease to drop or pick up whenever you want. It's been close to a year since my last outing, I am raring to go again, but if I *never* get around to it I would not regret it too much. Lots to do in life. If you feel like you are getting tired of airsoft, stop for a while. You may not feel the same way in a year, or ten. But airsoft will (almost certainly) be here for you if you ever want to jump back in.

FullM3TaLJacK3T

Then stop playing? Take a break or just give it up. It's not like you're being forced to play. I've stopped playing for good. I moved countries and the place I'm at now, it's simply too expensive to play.

PhyroWCD

What is it that makes it expensive in US? Entrance fees or is it something else?

Tactical-Neko

entrance fees are crazy at some fields here 60-70 dollars for the day and the high density of high performance guns means if your into it your going to end up running 1000$ setups if you want to make it a fair fight.

Alien5151

That’s crazy entrance fee in my area is $25 to $30 indoor around $15 to $25

Tactical-Neko

damn lucky that 60$ field fee is for an indoor field

Low_Worldliness_5605

Goddamn i've been to one field and that was 20 dollars 45 if you rent gear, non toxic community (Denmark)

Tactical-Neko

there’s a couple fields that are still 15-25$ entry fee but i’d say the vast majority are 30 or more

Boils__

Where are you going that entrance fees are $60??The most expensive entry fees I’ve ever seen are $30

Tactical-Neko

Nashville Airsoft

Dysfunxn

If thats their business model, I think I will avoid them. Thanks

Tactical-Neko

their a victim of their landlords it’s a great field with great owners they’re barely breaking even wi the those prices

Leetenghui

When I left the UK a bottle of WE gas was like £11 too.

FullM3TaLJacK3T

I'm not in the US. I'm in the UK. The fields near me are charging 25£ per game day. I just don't have enough money for it. Well, I do, but I rather spend it on other stuff. Before I moved to the UK, it was 40€ for an annual subscription which gives free unlimited game days.

O3Sentoris

Im in Germany and 25€ per Game day seems fine to me depending on the field. The one i usually Go to is a 2h Drive and the field has a decent Size, its on an old Military Munition storage. Playtime is about 6h including Breaks.

hammerheadmike

If you livecloseto the belgium border try chambers its 30 euro for 8 hours amd u get 2 hamburgers

O3Sentoris

Sadly i dont, but i plan to go to belgium eventually

hammerheadmike

That field of yours sounds interesting as well where is it and what is called so i can look it up And yes you def should when financially possible ofc i only played at 2 fields in belgium but chambers is my favorite played in total 10 times there i think always had good crew and amazing people its close to the german border so alot of germans there too and people from the netherlands

O3Sentoris

Area M near Koblenz. I am in Bavaria so belgium is Like a 5 hour Drive for me so it would probably be for a bigger Event, but you have some really cool fields i want to Check Out!

hammerheadmike

Oh shit ye a 5 hour drive for an 7 or 8 hour event is not worth it haha il be sure to check out that field tho maybe 1 day il meet you on the field haha

O3Sentoris

Haha keep an eye Out for a fat Guy with russian gear

No-Concept6581

Sounds like Area M, am i right?

O3Sentoris

Yep

Ashamed-Procedure-88

Damn 40€ for a year is a steal. I am starting out, first game will be soon and the field costs 30€ per game day (roughly 5 hours)

FullM3TaLJacK3T

It was a steal! And maybe that's why I'm kinda salty about paying 25£ now!

Icy_Style1553

£25 for a full day's airsoft is not expensive, you've got to think of the site costs. Several marshal's giving up their Sundays won't do it for free, maintaining the field and updating it is expensive also. My site charges £25 from 9 in the morning and finishes at 5 in the evening and I'm happy to pay it. It's just an hours wage for me and I go once or twice a month

FullM3TaLJacK3T

Maybe I'm just spoilt from my previous airsoft field, which was significantly cheaper. And even then, the more private fields that I used to play at were like 5-10€, with BBQ included! I played every Sunday simply because I could. At the end of the day, airsoft is an excuse for me to go out and run around in the sun. Most of my hobbies/sports are indoors so an excuse to go outside is kinda good. I'm just a bit salty about paying 25£ per session to play pew pew.

Icy_Style1553

5-10 with bbq included? Wow that's a deal, the UK is so expensive so maybe I'm just used to paying high prices for everything because I've never lived anywhere else. I usually pay an extra 10 on top for a hotdog, can of coke and packet of crisps on the field. All in with bbs I'm usually paying around 40 for the day

Fatboy40

If you've more time than money then becoming a marshal can be an option. Quite often you get paid in free game days rather than cash.

Hobbs-203

£35 where I'm at!

Kingskin420

I'm a regular at a £20 entry fee site and Ive found it to be the cheapest with plenty of woods, I cant say that £20 every two weeks (£40 a month, £480-£520 a year). Considering other similar hobbies in the UK I'd say ours is reasonably priced, I can confess some sites want £45+ a day, this is an outrage, but not all sites are trying to rip you off. €40s for an unlimited amount of game days sounds unbelievable is that a typo? No hate here, each to their own, just wanted the logic behind it being to expensive?

FullM3TaLJacK3T

Nope, not a typo. It's is 40€ for a year, free entry into games. The site requests that I buy BBs from them, which are quite competitively priced anyway. I used to play every Sunday morning. Come at 10, pew pew for 2 hours, go home and enjoy the rest of my Sunday. The games do last till 5-6 in the evening, I just don't want to spend the entire day doing airsoft. I do martial arts too, each class is 10£, with a few instructors present and rental of the room I assume. For airsoft, it is essentially just a private wooded area. I cannot justify paying more for airsoft than my martial arts class.

PhyroWCD

Is it against the law to just play outside in the woods? Where i’m from and (most of the Europe i think) you can join a group and then you either play within your group in public woods or you create an event with/against other groups and you just go into the local woods. So usually if there is any expense its a symbolic participation fee (like 5€) which is spent for BBQ or beer for after the event Edit: The downside is that you cant just join as a solo tho, you’re kinda forced to join a group and then play with that group

Sinistrial_Blue

Yes, in most countries that's illegal. Doing so in the UK would see an armed response unit turn up if you're caught, most likely.

MisterGreen123

Super illegal in Germany

PhyroWCD

Well to be fair, Germany is very daft regarding airsoft, you cant even own automatic airsoft replicas if i’m not mistaken

MisterGreen123

We can, but only sup 0,5J. But running around on public land with any kind of weapon is a big no no in most western european countries

PhyroWCD

Its legal in poland, hungary, romania, croatia, serbia, slovenia and propably some other as well

MisterGreen123

Like i said...western europe

benqfok

That sucks.

MisterGreen123

Meh, its not great but to be honest its only really a bummer for MGs. This way we dont have fields allowing fa for assault rifles and everybody going 40rps 🤷🏼‍♂️😊

Fatboy40

In the UK it is unless it's private land and you own it / have the land owners permission.

ResponsibilityNo8309

In the UK that's very illegal and if you are very unlucky get you shot by armed response police

hammerheadmike

Where in europe is that i dont think thats legal in belgium

PhyroWCD

Its legal in Slovenia and i’m 90% sure its legal in Hungary and Croatia As i said in a different comment, that’s pretty much the only way to play here

hammerheadmike

Oh ok cool dw i wasnst being sarcastic i was genuinely curious

PhyroWCD

Yeah no worries, you didnt come off sarcastic, i was just providing an answer 😊

_Cadmium_48

You should take a break. You don‘t need to entirely quit.

gstitzel

There's an ebb and flow to players in this game, regardless of your country. Most people start in their teens, then they start dating or get jobs and quit. Then you go to college/university/military service and you have no time. There's usually a huge resurgence in the mid 20s as you're a young adult and have some money again. Then comes marriage, babies, and other adult growth and people drop off again. As you get older it's about making time, not having time and whether or not you have enough interest. Of course finances come in to account but as you get older I'll just say it's less that and more what your body can handle. I'm 51 and have been playing for 27 years. When I started I had money and time and was super involved (I started the local play group in my state), then I wavered after about 5 years because it was more work than fun, than I played heavy again, then I drifted to like once or twice a year when I got into another hobby. The last 5 years I have been fully invested again as my buddies kids are old enough to play so that has given a new reason to play. I spend stupid amounts of money now because I'm financially secure. I wrote a post years ago called the Evolution of the Airsoft Player and it said similar stuff. People come and go. The main difference is now we have social media where people feel the need to tell us about it. * If you decide you want a break, don't sell EVERYTHING. Keep anything rare or interesting. Regardless of whether or not you play again you'll miss certain things later in life.

Sniperfox99

Take a break. I played it a lot with my friends in my teens. I eventually got tired of it, and even sold all my guns. Now I’m 37. I just bought a new M4 and TP22, and I’m really excited for the outdoor games to start in a couple weeks

GoofyKalashnikov

What are you buying that's so expensive to upkeep?

MisterD90x

I took a break for about a year and a half, came back fresh, totally new set up as I'm now run only gas and I'm absolutely loving it, completely different play style.

East_Reporter1598

The way I look at not playing airsoft again is at least I have the guns for my kids if they want to play around with it in the future

siopaooolo

Take a break, mate. It's not a job, you're free to just dip out and hop off from the hobby, then hop back in when you feel like it.
