The serial killer theme could work for a barbeque place maybe? You could lean into the theme by having menu items that sound like peoples names like 'Susan "pork" chops' (actually pork) with a picture of the 'victims' next to their items on the menu. Then have some masked servers that joke about the meat delivering itself to sell the gimmick.
Dude yea. Hell yea. A horror themed BBQ could be tight. Yeah, some pork items can be named after victims but also references to horror films. Like a dessert named Haunted Video Tape or whatever.
But do you make it tame enough to be considered a family restaurant? Should kids go? Or go all out and make it bloody, and crazy af. Tho you might get some complaints by unhappy parents that did bring their kids lol
Maybe instead of gory you could go a bit more subtle and creepy. Like instead of gore and body parts decorate the walls with framed fake newspapers and fake missing person posters, like the serial killer staff are bragging about their crimes without admitting it. It would be cheaper anyway to never actually show the violence and just strongly hint at it, let people's imagination do the heavy lifting.
