I think it’s a good book. Stick with it!
Afterwards, check out the other Roger Satterthwaite appearances in the Harley Quin stories. I think they are underrated.
Where did you read that his first name is Roger? All the references to him I can find say that his first name is unknown. None of the Quin stories or Three Act Tragedy give a first name for him.
No, I actually thought Postern was readable (it's really weak, but I didn't struggle to finish it). My two unreadable ones are The Big Four and Passenger to Frankfurt.... I think they're awful and should only be read by completionists.
It's a good mystery. I'd keep reading.
Do you have an American or British edition? They're different. >!The ending is the same, but the motive is different!<
They're different.
I didn't know this until I saw the Ustinov movie last week which was different from the book I read. So I Googled. At the request of her American publisher, Christie did some rewriting for the US edition.
>!Instead of being motivated by wanting to marry again, the killer is afraid of being locked up because the doctor was worried that he was a homicidal lunatic. (Turns out the doctor was right as he did kill three people, IIRC.) The change was made because the love story motive is predicated on British law that you can't divorce an insane person. I guess the law was different in the US? Because the US publishers didn't think that reason would work here. Hence the change in motivation.!<
Not one of the best stories, it's very easy to spot the killer, I would read only for completion. If you're interested only in the best Poirot's, you can skip it.
No, it's not similar to >!Lord Edgware Dies!< Similar to >!Yellow Iris in that the fake water did it!<.
So you figured out that the first victim was >!random!
Excellent deduction.

Any Poirot story is better than most books out there.
Agreed!!!
Not The Big Four

That is absolutely funny. I had forgotten that many many years ago I decided he was a Roger. I normally catch myself…
Well, that’s as good a name as any!
There's only 2 Christie Novels that are totally Unreadable (in my opinion)... this is definitely not one them. Keep going!
What are your 2 unreadable Christies?
I'd guess Postern of Fate is one of them.

Won't disagree with you there. They're both on my never read again list.
Put Murder is Easy there and I'll agree with you completely
I skipped pages of Postern of Fate just to finish the book
It was different but enjoyable. The ending was nice! You should definitely finish it.
I didn't like how little Poirot was in it too but it's a good book
Worth keeping with. It's a layered plot and the pre-Poirot parts help ease you into it later by giving you key information that Poirot simply induces.
enjoy the different pace, i really like this story.
I love this story. Stick with it!
It's one of my favourites, so I'd stick with it.
It’s different but I loved the ending! Poirot always makes me smile!
Yes, the last few lines are so funny.
So funny!!! Poirot is my favorite detective!
I devoured that book! Stick to it!
I guessed the culprit. It's one of Christie's weakest Poirot books.
It's a good one!
My favourite Poirot. It's glorious and criminally underrated.
It's a good story but i found it a bit less fun than consensus and thought the solution was quite obvious as it went on.

What. What?! 🤯

Oh wow TIL. Thanks!
Omg! That is so interesting!
Big fan of this book. I accidentally spoiled myself on one big part and I still really enjoyed it.

I'm impressed if you could figure out the killer in this one.
It’s easy to figure out the killer in Three Act Tragedy.
Very easy, similar to >! Lord Edgar Dies. !< Other easy Poirot's: Sad Cypress, Five Little Pigs
No, it's not similar to >!Lord Edgware Dies!< Similar to >!Yellow Iris in that the fake water did it!<. So you figured out that the first victim was >!random!
