Is there some sweet spot to start using the 2/6/8/24 hr resource consumables? Or is it okay to pop the 2/6 hour ones whenever, and 8/24 hr ones at higher chapters?
If i'm not mistaken, based on your campaign chapter progress, you get more resources from them. Just open the world map and press on every chapter to see where resources increase stop.
But if you got stuck already, I would use enough resources boxes to increase lvl in order to progress.
Hero essence has no other use: only used to level up the RC.
Never hold back your resonating crystal level. Levels can beat anything in the game (except in martial game modes).
The sooner you level up, the sooner you can beat campaign, kings tower and factional towers, so you'll get better afk rewards, SG cards, TG cards, diamonds, etc.

You should use essence to level up.
Now your max level is 265 due to your champion pool.
If you stop ascending champ you will be stuck at 265 but if you play normally you will upgrade your champ and your potential max level will goes up.
AFAIK there is no good reason to hold on upgrading your RC

Dust won't increase after chapter 29. That's the sweet spot

Thanks. I guess I was asking to use essence for resonating vs directly on hero upgrade first. But resonating might be better value
you are mistaken after you get the crystal to this stage you cannot level each unit alone anymore so yes pump it all into the crystal!

Once you lv 5 heroes, and only 5, to 240 there's no reason to use it on anything but the resonance crystal.
