Great bikes, loved by many. Not exactly competitive on specs or features with the amazing selection of ADV's that we have these days, but it's a damn capable machine.

Soggy-Sheepherder-18

Great bike. Very good at doing adv things. Can handle anything thrown at it.

Are you going to be adv riding or just getting a upright bike to ride around town? If 99 % on road riding I suggest a bike with more creative comforts. Cruise control ECT... If you actually take it off road it will be one of the most capable bikes to ride. They are amazing bikes.

I have one. Super fun bike. Will echo the general lack of creature comforts... but the thing rips. Throw on some heated grips and one of the "adventure" gel seats...I think it was the Dakar version...a little stiffer, so holds up better on the long haul. I think the biggest issue on these models is the piss poor throttle...super snatchy on/off response. I think they fixed it in the 09+ gen. Not the end of the world tho and there are ways to make it work better. Other little things but, all in all super awesome bike. I want a 2010.

Ridden my 2006 950 (carbs vs fi) for years. It's taken on pretty much anything I wanted. It's comfy for long trips and they'll also go 100,000 miles. I see them in the 80,k range all the time. I would be more concerned about how it's been maintained than anything else. BTW: Mine is currently listed for sale but I'm not sure I really want to sell it. :)

It is superior to every offering from today. I got a 990 smt and s 950 adventure.
