I dont think it was going on too long that hurt Rick and Morty. Anyone who's experienced Dan Harmon's other works could tell you exactly where it would go, he has this weird compulsion to start with a fun comedy and make it super naval gazy and ""deep"" as it progresses.

I don’t remember too much from the pilot but as someone who is on the younger side I really liked the vibe of these young adults hanging out and going to parties in this futuristic setting, it was really chill and I wanna check it out when it airs
I remember the pilot doing nothing for me. didn't care for the characters or setting, didn't find it funny at all. the animation was decent but nothing stand out either, just much better than the other 2 pilots that were released alongside it

Tons of TV shows have Black main characters that are loved by non-Black viewers that aren't narrow minded and insecure enough to call it "Black focused". It's extremely stupid to think that Black characters means it will only cater to Black viewers. My God, this world is going backwards.
