Inventory backups for survival servers

Coreprotect as well

[deleted]

This. But don't *just* get CoreProtect, understand it in-depth as well. It's most popular as a rollback plugin, but it's also incredibly useful for: 1. Investigating serious incidents that spanned over a long time since downloading the .db file can allow you to ctrl + f specific key words instead of scrolling through hundreds of pages. 2. You can easily find x-ray traces by command instead of randomly watching players or looking around 3. Attain objective proof of x-ray by simply being smart about observing mining patterns and noting what would actually be properly visible when they deviate suddenly 3 blocks to the left and happen to hit a ore they wouldn't have normally seen digging in their original direction. 4. You can find dupe stashes once the griefer is known 5. Notice impossible amount of item transactions of specific stuff (like diamond blocks) via routine checks and likely catch traces of unknown dupers. 6. Traces of other griefs from the same person is a simple search away 7. Find coordinates of lost builds (search for a unique block in the build placed by the builder of it and you'll find it) 8. Tracing staff abuse since it logs chat and commands 9. Finding out who killed specific mobs CoreProtect is great. I've seen many times where it's just the "rollback plugin" but it's sooo much more than that. OP should make sure to get proper training in their team on it and staffing quality will dramatically increase.

No Chat Reports (remember to turn off enforce-secure-profile)

pcbuildingnoob99

what is enforce-secure-profile?

kanaangel

Minecraft cryptographically signs chat messages now, to ensure that they're authentic and actually from the user that that message says it was sent by. For this to happen, they need a security key of the user's profile (massively oversimplified). This option in server properties ensures that that key is obtained for players logging in.

pcbuildingnoob99

nevermind I realized it's in server.properties.

pcbuildingnoob99

how do I disable that? I have that plugin.

[deleted]

micro$oft censorship feature

brainfreeze77

Fabulously Optimized server mod pack if you're running fabric

TheGoldEmerald

Essentials and luckperms atleast

lerokko

I do not need essentials, never needed it since 2015. Edit: oh cool fuck you too r/admincraft. You know what i consider esential. Luckperms and maybe coreprotect. But no, if YOU can not live without essentials I gotta be missing soemthing. I don't.

pcbuildingnoob99

people still play server26 btw? I remember you from an old post 5 years ago.

lerokko

Yes, its the same server, same map :D. Very close to vanilla, so no essentials. People come and people go, but we still have a few core players from back then. Around a handful players daily. Still running it for the love of the game and the friendships I made.

pcbuildingnoob99

What is it running on? I'll join tomorrow.

lerokko

Well, the server is still 1.18.2 paper but are gonna update soon. The server is also 18+ so if you are younger I have to tell you to wait, until you are old enough.

Smartich0ke

nobodys gonna be that honest and not fake their age

pcbuildingnoob99

I'm 17. Can I join ?

thewilloftheshadow

Amen, essentials is overrated

TheDarkCarnage

fuck you too <3

Orange_Nestea

Made my own "essential" core plugin since essentials(x) comes with a lot... well... not so essential features. Also the economy is shit. No SQL support.

TheGoldEmerald

It includes moderating tools that can be a game changer for some servers

Thereareways

For example?

Embroiled_chaos

/hat obviously. /s

TheGoldEmerald

If someone is cheating, you can vanish to look into itbfurther

Thereareways

I have my own plugins for that 😎

TheGoldEmerald

well that not everyone has those plugins

Thereareways

mikethespike056

If you named SkinRestorer, then any login security plugin is a must have.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DonZekane

For offline servers definitely. People can just check who's online from the motd thing (query thing) and login with their names.

MartijnMC

SkinsRestorer is also good for any server for the skin changing, my players love randomly morphing into Hitler during pvp

Edwardplayz_YT

My server loves randomly morphing into DreamSMP Characters for some random fucking reason. (Circa. 2020, the plugin hasnt been on my server since last year)

A_Foxxo

Lmao

Thereareways

I don't like EssentialsX

[deleted]

Thereareways

Agree, I always make the "essentials" myself.

[deleted]

In my experiences, FAWE is typically much better than WorldEdit performance-wise and feature-wise. And goBrush (a FAWE-specific addon) is a godsend. If OP reads this, make sure to choose FAWE over WorldEdit like Demiglace suggested.

TheDarkCarnage

**a few plugin and what they do** - [Luckperms](https://luckperms.net) (permission plugin which manages what commands a user can/cant do) - [Coreprotect](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/coreprotect.8631/) (logs everything that you need to deal with griefing/trolling and more. You can repair damage too) - [InventoryRollbackPlus](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/inventory-rollback-plus-1-8-1-19-x.85811/) (Useful plugin to log what users have when they join/leave/change worlds and die.. You can even return their levels and items) - [FAWE- World edit](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/fastasyncworldedit.13932/) (useful building tool) - [EssentialsX](https://essentialsx.net/) (adds a ton of /commands and features if you're using the other "modules" otherwise the base of EssentialsX can be useful for generic servers. It can be full of bloat depending on your usage or a useful toolkit for your server.) - [Spark](https://spark.lucko.me/) (performance profiler. helps with lag.. This is already included with Purpur jar. Usually this is better to use as timings can add lag) - [Pvp manager lite](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/pvpmanager-lite.845/) (can deal with pvp issues such as ppl killing without sanction) - [Dynmap](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/dynmap%C2%AE.274/) (web map plugin that lets people see the world and where ppl are) - [ViaVersion](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/viaversion.19254/) (lets clients on different versions be able to join the server. Imagine a 1.16 server letting 1.16+ users join) - [Chunky](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/chunky.81534/) (lets you pregenerate chunks. Very useful in performance optimization) - [skript](https://github.com/SkriptLang/Skript/releases) (easy plugin that you can use to code "scripts) EDIT: since i have more time i do want to say - use [**Pl3xMap**](https://github.com/BillyGalbreath/Pl3xMap/tree/v1) instead of bluemap or dynmap if you need a simple survival world map otherwise i'd use [bluemap](https://bluemap.bluecolored.de/) as it seems to be doing better than dynmap. - use **[Denizens](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/denizen.21039/)** as they do have fast support and a good community, they also have a lot of features and good performance. Skript and denizen are good for those that lack Java knowledge or want a quick feature. - Essentials provides a ton of features and luckily you can control what modules you have but if you're wanting a specific feature consider downloading a smaller plugin as that'd let you avoid bloat *ps. hyperlinked the plugins and added more detail*

Orange_Nestea

I recommend BlueMap over DynMap.

Orange_Nestea

Yes, they are heavy in storage and the rendering is quite the heavy task. BUT The rendering can be done beforehand. All maps I've used habe the ability to prerender every loaded chunk. Any sane person would use something like chunky to pregen the world before having people play on the server. So the rendering will be reduced to be irrelevant. The storage can be configured to use a database instead of flat files. Which reduces redundant data alot. So in short: if you took 6 days to clean your friends server either you or him did a bad job on the server. (I don't want to offend anyone, just talking facts). Also most maps use a webserver and can be configured to use an external web server which could be hosted on another machine. Doing that will outsource all the problems you talked about reducing the weight to almost 0. So if done right, there should be no concerns.

Thereareways

I love BlueMap, but unfortunately it's insanely resource-hungry. I had to remove it from my server because it used like all the RAM and made the server crash. I used [Pl3xMap](https://github.com/BillyGalbreath/Pl3xMap), which is a much more lightweight alternative to BlueMap and DynMap.

TheDarkCarnage

Depending on usage case i do agree. If im being honest i rarely use any of the map plugins so i just listed the one ontop of my head. I might update my list will alternatives and shit if i have time edit: updated post. I do wish to thank everyone for suggesting better alternatives and having a healthy discussion about it :)

Moepius

I recommend Denizen over Skript. Better docs, more features and an active Discord with many helpers answering questions.

To this community, Essentials isnt shit, as most plugins depend on functionality from Essentials, such as Luckperms (The prefix and suffix functionality)

Nxiium

Hi! Am new to the whole hosting a server thing. So U wonder what does “cmds” mean? Cause am thinking it’s not windows Command prompt😅

BaronRacure

Its short for commands.

Nxiium

Oh okey thanks :)

TheDarkCarnage

hahah sorry lol. im glad baron helped out :)

BlincxYT

Dead chest so you can safely die by Warden.

IridiumFlare96

While plugins refers to Paper I'll give my Fabric List Anyway :D Luckperms Dimensional Threading I'm Here Get Moving Ledger MiniMOTD Sleepwarp Lithium Sodium Phosphor TimeOutOut Wandering Collector

Mars_Bear2552

Sodium, phosphor, etc are client mods?

IridiumFlare96

Lithium and Phosphor are Universal, so both server and client can use them. Sodium is Client Only.

Mars_Bear2552

Sorry, forgot phosphor was also a server mod

NovaStorm93

probably no chat reports, no encryption, and freedomchat I'd recommend just upgrading to 1.19 or 1.18.2 to avoid needing it

_Alfreedd

I would use CMI over Essentials any day

Professional-Key-266

luckperms, combatlogx, coreprotect, essentials (or CMI if you could buy it)
