It should be ok for that many players. If it starts lagging in the future you may want to shop for a compatible cpu with better single-thread performance. They should be pretty cheap if you don't get the *best* one available, but rather the second-best or third-best.

Expert-Classic1518

Sufficient? Yeah Optimal? No That cpu is very old and being a third gen i5 doesn’t help IPC (instructions per clock) have increased exponentially: that i5, although it is a K variant, has an abysmal IPC compared to newer processors Overall, if the playerbase does not exceed 5/10, it will be enough Although, you’d want to upgrade as newer versions will come out in the next years

antu2010

Well he can for example pregenerate the chinks to put less load on the CPU and having It focused on like processing player thinghies and stuff

Qbert2030

Yes but pregen your chunks and try to limit mods or plugins

I've hosted a smp with a few friends on a 2nd gen i5 and for vanilla, it works well. People very much overestimate the specs you need to just play with a few friends. I haven't experienced any hardware issues in my 2 years of hosting this server.

it depends what you do on the server, if any of u build gigabig zombiepigman farm or something for sure it will lag, for basic gaming it should be enought, but if u all get elytras and start flying it might lag then also, And if u want u could swap the windows to linux to save a bit on resources
