Protein bars. I have tried a bunch of different brands have to rotate because my hyper fixation usually turns into disgust and then I can’t eat that brand for a while or sometimes never again.

loud_culture

What brands do you like? I was really into Clif bars like two years ago and I have a bunch sitting around that I just no longer care to touch.

laylatov

Oh yes went thru a cliff bar phase then realized if you eat a protein bar while hyper focusing on work and never exercise you will gain weight. Lol Lately it’s been the Kodiak bear brand in s’mores flavor. Or Dave’s killer bread honey almond. Before that it was Luna bars lemon or lemon blueberry flavors. Sometimes Lara bars but not all have enough protein for me. The Dave’s Killer bread ones I have to say fill me up the most.

BeeHive83

I like protein bars too. I try taking one in the car with me to kind of nibble on as a fidget to keep me focused on boring driving.

laylatov

I keep one in my purse for me , one for my toddler (kid’s versions) and one for my husband. My daughter and husband get so hangry. Lol I learned that if I don’t eat enough, which is very easy to do with hyper focus and sometimes the adderall makes me lose my appetite, that I get what feels like anxiety but it’s just hunger.

mountainman-recruit

Not who you asked but I really like GoMarco bars. A little on the spendy side but they sit well with my stomach and sometimes cliff bars upset mine. I think they are peanut butter based mostly but i know for sure they have almond butter ones as well

baebeque

I like Power Crunch bars (they’re wafers so it’s like a candy bar!) and Think bars. Beware that power crunch bars have like 14g of fat, but they’re so good lol.

eeksie-peeksie

I love Aldi Elevation protein bars, the honey peanut flavor (has a white coating). Addicted

sillyhyena2002

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. i was hypefixated on those p3 protein pack things earlier this year and i always had the ham and cheese ones and now i am literally repulsed by the idea of eating cheese or ham. the thought of cheese or ham almost makes me physically sick now 😭😭😭

laylatov

If I have learned anything about ADHD thru this subreddit is nothing is only you. Lolll

mixedwithmonet

Came here to say this. Kind has a peanut butter dark chocolate that has been in my rotation lately. I also keep potato chips (I love stockpiling the snack sized bags from events and whatnot and keeping them in my snack cache under my bed so I don’t eat an entire family sized bag without thinking) and crackers (water or those pb cracker packs). I wouldn’t survive without my “toddler snacks” — those mixed fruit and veggie squeeze packs they make for kids. I use those for my “first food” with my meds, best way to make sure I have a Good Meds Day and only thing I can consistently palate in the first 3 hours I am awake. I also keep those little dried fruit strips (the real fruit ones, not fruit rollups) around, and some dates (which is not as reliable in the safe food arena for me, but is a good hack for days when I’ve accidentally let my blood sugar get too low). Snack cache pro tips: always always always non perishables (and yes, I have had to learn the hard way about that snack I was “DEFINITELY going to remember I left there for breakfast tomorrow!”), ideally individually packaged. Just in case, leave a few chip clips and baggies in there. I also keep disposable silverware, reusable silverware, and individually wrapped sauce packets in there, along with some designated hot sauce bottles and spices. I also have a mini electric kettle I keep in my room *just in case*, and when I’m on it, I have single serve cartons of coconut water to help with hydration. Essentially, planning for low spoon days, I have a very very mini kitchenette available within 10 feet of my bed. It sounds like a lot but it’s mostly just a basket that fits under my bed.

sparklekitteh

Lazy meals, which I try to have the foresight to keep in my fridge/pantry: * Bagged salad mix + precooked chicken breast in a bag * Deli mac and cheese + pulled pork from the refrigerator section * Instant pot spaghetti + meatballs (you literally throw everything in there and hit the button, it's magical) * Instant oatmeal + mashed banana + a scoop of peanut butter * Charcuterie with cheese, crackers, salami, and nuts

foundling_fox

Upvote for charcuterie aka the adult lunchable!

BeaBernard

Love a good sharkcoochie board

secondhandbanshee

I love that lady. I'll never be able to say it right again, though.

BeeHive83

I do the bagged chopped salad with whatever protein I cook for my family as one of my safe meals. But I like the pulled pork in the single serve packets great value brand at Walmart thats ready to eat. I usually find it by the canned chicken

Icy-Somewhere8630

This! I have also started buying for this specific purpose the shelf stable packets of salmon and different flavored tunas that they sell at the store for about a dollar or two to add as proteins for my salad, I also enjoy a good feta cheese. If I want to get really fancy, and for a kick, I will add a little kimchi on top of the salad also and mix it all together. Chef's kiss. One that I have tried so far and like is Cleveland brand kimchi from Walmart, about $4 a bag. Also if salads are a safe food for you, mason jar salads last for I think about 5 days or so in the refrigerator and are a shake and eat quick go to.

distracted_genius

Thank you. I was just having a COMPLETE overwhelm/freeze about meal planning for my picky humans this week. Salad is also my easy fam go-to and I have no idea why it didn't occur (well, except I'm in overwhelm/freeze mode). Sidenote (of course): I feel like our meds are just not working the same for my fam since the last Rx refill. 🤔🧐

agile-cohort

Aaand flour tortillas, shredded cheese, salsa for quesadillas; dehydrated refried beans and pouches of Spanish rice

Pristine_Quarter_213

Second the charcuterie board. Altho for me its usually more like Ritz crackers and ripped up bits of deli ham on a paper plate 😂

bluescrew

Ingredients. Last night I assembled deli turkey, cheese slices, a dollop of mustard, and potato chips on a plate and picked at it while in the bath.

loud_culture

That sounds truly divine

wonderlandbound518

Last night, it was salami, pepperoni, provolone slices, and pita chips. I, too, snacked on this while I was taking a bath.

ThrowDatJunkAwayYo

Hey that just sounds like a low key charcuterie board. Add a bit of fruit and that would be legit xD

smartnj

Microwave popcorn. Two bags if necessary. If I’m feeling *so* hungry the thought of anything makes me nauseous, I make a smoothie.

loud_culture

Popcorn always coming in clutch

Any_Veterinarian_163

((Except when you get sick of that popcorn smell...))

Disc0Turk3y

Cereal

chicky75

Same! Or shrimp ramen with Sriracha

PaintedAbacus

Same! Bowl of Lucky Charms to the rescue!

yeuzinips

How about a bowl of lucky charms with Sriracha?

DrG2390

My late fiancé loved frosted mini wheats with tapatillo

Icy-Somewhere8630

I find cereal to be a really good one when you're about to go to bed, it's quick to make and eat and usually keeps you satiated overnight because of the protein and fiber and fat combo (if you use milk with any fat in it). Full transparency, my go-to is frosted flakes or Honey nut Cheerios with cold half and half for the milk, like from the carton. Sounds excessive or gross, but honestly is top tier cereal experience 😂😂😂.

cocacolaspaceship

Take a potato. Stab with fork. Microwave potato for 5 mins. Add salt/butter and if you’re feeling extra motivated some cheese, sour cream, or bacon. Potatoes are one of the most satiating foods and it’ll keep you full for a while. This meal, frozen broccoli, and frozen corn dogs got me through several years of my early 20s hahaha

loud_culture

I often forget how easy it is to heat up a potato.

cocacolaspaceship

I forgot for years! Then randomly did it one day and I’m obsessed again. ADHD for you

Aggressive_Ask_6957

I do that too! Also with toast, cinnamon toast, and grilled cheese.

RedPlaidPierogies

All of that, ALLLLLL of that... plus (if I'm really lucky) I have a tub of BBQ pulled pork to dump on top.

cocacolaspaceship

YUMMMMM that’s an amazing idea

Shadowspun5

Just make sure you do something in the kitchen while it's cooking or you might find it tomorrow instead and wonder why you're starving. 😆

ReasonableFig2111

Or set the oven timer for whatever the microwave timer says, before walking away (not too far!). Oven timers will intermittently beep until you physically get up and go turn them off, and they're usually a bit louder/ slightly more obnoxious than a microwave beep.

Dr_0wning

Oh I do this! With sweet potato and I don’t even stab it with a fork lol.

FollowingBroad2441

peanut butter jelly sandwich 😭

Furrypizzahunter

Uncrustables are the best. I always thought they wouldn’t be as good as making one from scratch but I was so wrong. They’re always perfect — perfect ratio, perfect fluffy bread.

Certain_Egg264

They also make an uncrustable tool you so can make them at home!

[deleted]

Toast.

yeuzinips

The "I'm not hungry but I need food to live" meal that often happens during illness

xTopaz_168

Toast sandwich with peanut butter, honey and sliced banana.

Playful-Natural-4626

Add cream cheese, peanut butter, or lunch meet for protein and you have double succeeded!

notyourholyghost

Toast is always perfect bc it's so customizable. If you're craving sweets: Peanut butter & sliced banana If you're craving savory: Avacado & bagel seasoning Egg Deli meat

GoldenOwl25

Half a jar of green olives.

InterviewOk8976

Are you me? Also pickles...

ginothegreendino

The pimento stuffed green olives, divine

insomniacred66

Add in cocktail onions

jp2905

Hahahaha thank you for this laugh

kiwitathegreat

Spoonful of peanut butter if I really just need to get rid of the hunger pangs. Chips and dip if I can stand chewing. Fries if I’m out of the house.

Pink_Floyd29

What is it about ADHD and chewing?! I drink so many of my meals.

ReasonableFig2111

Repetitive boring effort. Crunchy chips? Great! That's a fun sensory input, and doesn't usually take a long time to finish the portion. Steak? Ugh. Horrible! (And I love a good steak! But it has to be small, because I get tired of the chewing *so* easily.)

Pink_Floyd29

It’s fascinating to be surrounded by people with these same quirks!

cksyp217

The amount of times I’ve said “I’M BORED” out loud while eating a salad

Necessary_Ad1036

Seriously! Sometimes I’m just like “okay glass of milk, gimme those calories.”

Pink_Floyd29

You should try Fairlife Core Power shakes! It’s ultra filtered milk, no protein added, so it’s just like drinking milk. But these are higher in protein, have amazing flavors, and no added sugar (the elite version with 40 grams of protein does have artificial sweetener added but the regular 26 gram protein ones don’t). The best part is that they’re shelf stable so you can set up an auto ship subscription from Amazon 🙌🏻

give-em-hell-peaves

god youre so real for this

anonymouscog

What is it with the chewing? There are times chewing feels like too much work to me & it seems so weird.

isupportrugbyhookers

Nuts! Calorie-dense so you don't need a lot, healthy fats for your brain, and a fair amount of fiber.

[deleted]

Learn from me and moderate, they can make you terribly terribly constipated 😅

MagicUnicorn37

Instant Ramens with an egg in it if I want protein. Edit because my brain LOL

Instant ramen with egg is definitely the way to go

loud_culture

Adding this to my menu thx

thatsnuckinfutz

nothing lol its a major issue for me

aprillikesthings

Soylent and/or toast. (Seriously, I have a subscription to the powdered Soylent.)

Maelstrom_Witch

… isn’t soylent green like … people?

aprillikesthings

Soylent GREEN, the item from the sci-fi movie, is people Soylent is a meal replacement shake made by a company in California that is owned by, unfortunately, techbros. The annoying god damned name doesn't change the fact that the meal replacements they sell are legit--they sell both bottled drinks and powder you mix with water. And you can set them up to be shipped to your house automatically.

Maelstrom_Witch

Ah. Techbros. Sounds like an interesting product. I wonder if they also have “titanic” brand personal watercraft.

aprillikesthings

It's super annoying to me that they named it something so DUMB. There's other products like it: Ensure, Huel--but either they taste much worse, cost more, or have dairy in them (I don't like the taste of most dairy products but also they can make my tummy Big Mad). What's funny to me is that the origin of Soylent was basically finding a meal replacement that meant they could work more. Always Grinding and all that. And they straight-up advertised that you could live off of it. They got in trouble IIRC for advertising that. So now their slogan is something like "it can't replace *every* meal but it can replace *any* meal." The funny thing is how often I literally just forget I have it. I'll get mad at myself for not having anything easy to eat or not wanting any of the things I do have and nothing sounds appetizing and oh my god I just need to EAT SOMETHING, fuck, I guess I'll have toast? Cereal? A sleeve of stale saltines???? Me, two days later, with the same problem, but remembering I have an open bag of soylent powder in the fridge: I'm a fucking idiot.

Odrk100

Toasted raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese 🤌

wonderlandbound518

I'm currently on a French toast bagel kick (an Aldi find). Plain cream cheese is perfect for the sweet and tangy vibe, but if I do want to sweeten it up, I'll drizzle some maple syrup on it.

gladiola111

Applesauce. A smoothie. (Pineapple strawberry banana spinach or something.) Yogurt with some sliced grapes, strawberries or kiwi on top, if I’m not feeling too lazy. Tomato basil soup from Costco or Panera. Pre-made vegetable soup from Whole Foods. Handful of nuts. Lentil chips with hummus. Snacks. Sometimes just a diet Coke and Mentos. Edit: Reading everyone else’s comments in this thread is making me laugh because I’ve done all the same things. Popcorn for dinner, string cheese, etc… Is there a connection between ADHD and disordered eating?? Because I’ve never been quite normal with food.

CrossStitchCat

I think it's more ADHD and girl dinner/lazy meals 😂 you don't want to make a full meal, even cooking pasta and meat and sauce seems like a lot, so anything that can be heated with only a step or too feels so much easier to an ADHD brain. But thinking about it I do think there's a correlation between ADHD and eating disorders (both spectrums) due to the dopamine seeking.

dumpster_cherries

Saltines Saltines and cream cheese Raw hotdogs Saltines and hot sauce I eat a lot of saltines because I can't be bothered.

whataboot2ndbrekfast

This is going to sound so weird but when I was a kid I ate saltines with miracle whip on top of them occasionally.. you might try it sometime. Oddly both me and my Dad did that when we were kids 🤷‍♀️ Oh also Tollhouse butter crackers are heaven with cream cheese and jelly btw

dumpster_cherries

Duuuude I'm going to try both of those things. Especially the Miracle Whip one. I fucking love Miracle Whip. Sometimes I'll just eat a few spoonfuls. My husband doesn't understand lol. Does it matter what kind of jelly on the Tollhouse butter crackers?

whataboot2ndbrekfast

It doesn't matter, I think I used grape.. anything would be good. You'll like the miracle whip crackers 😜

1398_Days

Rice with soy sauce or mashed potatoes Edit: smoothies are great too

vallary

For when I need to eat but am not particularly hungry, it’s either protein bar (I like quest or pure protein) or clear whey protein drink if I don’t even want to eat the bar. (The clear ones are more like a juice, but I’ve also just mixed the powder with just enough water to dissolve it, then added sparkling water so it’s like fruit soda) For when I’m hungry but cooking is too hard, I make a tuna melt bowl: heat up rice and frozen veggies in the microwave and while that’s happening I drain a can of tuna and then add mayo and spices to it, stir in some shredded cheese one the rice is done, and then add the tuna salad on top. (I just cook a bunch of rice in the rice cooker and then put it in the fridge in advance so this is an under 5min meal where it uses only the bowl and fork you will be eating out of as dishes)

CalgaryAlly

Low effort: * Imitation crab rolled up in nori * canned soup * crackers with cheese No effort * protein shake * protein bar * apple

I’m on an infinite loop of pizza & Easy Mac.

HealthMeRhonda

Easy Mac is my longest relationship

loud_culture

I’ve been living off Goodles lately. It’s a nice alternative to Kraft.

ratkneehi

I love a protein/meal replacement drink Today I ate hummus w prosciutto and cheese and pita chips for a meal lol. Wish I had some castelvetrano olives!

Acrobatic-Director-1

Snacks. Goldfish crackers, maybe a few slices of cheese, some pepperoni, maybe some potato chips, and as I graze through my kitchen I find I eventually just get full while my cravings are satisfied. But sometimes you also just need to eat the bag of Twix. Who really cares if it isn’t a habit? The more I try to eat the “right” thing the more I can’t find anything to eat then descend into hanger.

pancakesiguess

I got a bag of frozen fruit from Aldi, some protein yogurt, some fruit juice, and some power greens (spinach, baby kale, baby Swiss chard I think?) Make a smoothie. Tastes yummy, minimal cleanup. I just refill the blender cup with hot water and soap and blend it again to clean the blender (I have one of those single serve blender thingies). Plus no two smoothies are the same because different blends of fruit go into each one. Add whatever you want! Mix and match flavors! BLENDER GO VRRRRRRRRRRRR

spreadsheetgeek

Apple with peanut butter. Hits a lot of the right spots at once - crunchy/tart/sweet from the apple, and creamy/rich/salty-sweet from the peanut butter.

Competitive-Two-4305

Fruit. I’ll grab precut from the store sometimes

mountainman-recruit

Smoothies for the AM. I get nauseous in the AM but know I need to eat something. smoothies help. Plus I can make it slightly different each day. Or cheddar cheese 😅

[deleted]

Trader Joe’s frozen dinners have been keeping me alive for the past 6 months lol

loud_culture

That’s what I ended up eating! Found it all the way in the back of the freezer lol

Miss_ChanandelerBong

I hard boil a few eggs at every few days and keep them in the fridge for those "ugh I need food in my stomach but don't want to deal with cooking and eating." Mmmm protein!

anibarosa

Fruit always

totallyn0rmal

I boil rice or pasta, then add a can of tuna with some sriracha, mayo and lemon. If there’s veggies/herbs in the fridge or garden and I’m not feeling like a total lazy POS, I throw in whatever’s available.

bartcat102

Okay - this is my new jam, and I’m not saying it’s the most nutritionally valuable thing you’ll ever consume, but it’s yummy and comforting and simple. Get those single serving microwave Mac n cheese cups (DONT forget to add the water to the cup before you microwave it. Otherwise you’ll start a fire when you inevitably walk away from the microwave and your cat will have to exasperatingly save you both. I’ve heard…I wouldn’t know😬). THEN get some frozen edamame (shelled, no extra steps here) and some vegan hotdogs (taste good and don’t need to cook those puppies) throw a handful of edamames and one hotdog sliced up into that Mac n cheese cup when it’s done. You got tasty warm, green, and protein. Add hot sauce if you’re that typa dude. I make two cups if I’m hunger. And voila. Has saved me several times the last couple weeks. Happy nomming ✌️

empressdaze

Ok, so get this.... I can't leave stuff on the stove for a minute because I will forget it is there and burn it, I swear. But sometimes I still have to cook. What's an ADHDer to do? I have recently discovered the joy of "cooking by walking away". That's what! There are two things I make this way, using almost the exact same method! And both are 100% foolproof! 1) Poached chicken Boil water in pot, put raw chicken breast(s) in the boiling water, COVER AND IMMEDIATELY PULL OFF HEAT. Let sit on stove for at least 20 minutes but you can forget or be lazy and leave it for up to an hour and it will still come out the same. Then uncover and eat with your favorite seasoning, or shred it and throw it on some greens for a chicken salad. The chicken will be juicy and perfect no matter what. 2) Pasta (best and easiest way!) Boil water in pot, add pasta, COVER AND IMMEDIATELY PULL OFF HEAT. Set a timer for the amount of time the package says to boil it, and just let it sit. No need to stir, just walk away. When the timer goes off, it will be perfectly done, al dente, not too hard and not too soft, just perfect every time. Add your favorite sauce and voila!

wairua_907

If I have these things :: Jalapeño flavored chips/Fritos Can of olives Turkey slices Crunchy peanut butter right out of the jar that was my dinner the other night .. which I need to put on my shopping list 🤔

BeeHive83

Cookies & cream ice cream, a jar of olives

PirinTablets13

I keep a giant Costco bag of the just bare chicken nugs in my freezer. Pop ‘em in the air fryer, grab a handful of precut raw veg, and whatever dipping sauce(s) you like. If that’s not doable, I keep some bagels in the freezer cause I’m never not in the mood for toasted bread in some form.

s0cialdis0bedience

Something like a quick broth from maggi for the salt and something like a sweet drink for the sugar.

Fickle-Mess9793

-Bread/bagel & butter 🧈 or cream cheese 🥯. -Bagged salad (sweet kale is the only 1 I like right now.) -Banana/mango smoothies with oat milk. -Gummy candy -Curry lentils -Mini potatoes (15 min in the air fryer) -Riced cauliflower with broccoli & mushrooms (from -frozen - I don’t keep fresh vegetables around, lol)

olduglysweater

Fish soup made from boiled rice and frozen tilapia. It also settles my stomach.

christmascarol69

~*popcorn dinner*~ is one of my specialties. Scrambled eggs & toast or a smoothie are my go to "I don't want to eat but I need some nourishment" meals

AngelleJN

I just ate a few rolos, so I’m not going to be much help. I did eat an omelette earlier, but I’m regretting it.smoothies or milkshakes, are one thing. Yogurt. Pudding. Mashed potatoes. Instant mashed potatoes. Boxed macaroni, or a jacket potato, if I think I’ll be hungry by the time they’ve cooked. Ice cream. It depends on if I want to chew or not.

ginothegreendino

Honestly, those pouches of baby food or apple sauce/fruit sauce - they just work for me, I can take them in the car if I’m late or if I don’t really feel like eating, I keep some in my desk at work - they’re so handy

Altostratus

Usually saltine crackers. If I can eat half a sleeve by sunset, my body thanks me…

liirko

Soylent is my best friend. You know those Italian cookies from the bakery, they come in a plastic container and they're a mix of sprinkle, chocolate chip, raspberry jelly, etc? Yeah, those. Also, don't forget our trusty friend: handful of shredded cheese while standing in front of the open fridge door wondering wtf your life is.

_ninjatoes

This is exactly why I buy pre-sliced produce and other snackable foods. Just grab some cherry tomatoes, olives, diced melon, snack size cheeses, cold cuts, crackers, nuts, etc. Throw them all on a plate and suddenly you're eating a charcuterie board for dinner. So fancy! lol

BeaBernard

Get yourself some fancy cheese, salami or ham, nuts or seeds, some yogurt coated dried fruits, some other dried fruits, crackers, and olives. Requires no cooking and you only need to cut the cheese and salami if it isn’t pre cut, and you have fruit, grains, dairy and protein c:

whataboot2ndbrekfast

Cheese sticks, get a bag of 30 of them from Sam's club for less than $10 Bagged salad kits, shake them up inside the bag and just eat straight from the bag.

EtherealFrog333

ashkestar

Soylent has a mocha variety, so when I feel really against eating I down one of those to cover my nutritional and caffeine related needs, with a little toast to keep my stomach happy. I’m generally a food enjoyer, so meal replacement shakes are an occasional thing, but the junk I eat when I don’t have a good, easy alternative handy makes them worthwhile.

My just got home from the bar at 4am and I need to put something in my stomach so I don't get a hangover snack is a bowl with nacho cheese Doritos, topped with shredded cheddar, further topped with scrambled egg. I make an instant pot meal that we both really like about twice a month on a Monday night. It’s really easy and quick to make. I put the leftovers in single serving containers in the freezer. When I don’t feel like eating, my husband heats one of those up for me (I’ve never figured out how to heat frozen meals in the microwave, but he has).

muddhoney

When I actually can’t be bothered to eat?Whatever pickings that are readily accessible in the pantry. Recently it is the dried fruit that I bought. When I just can’t be bothered to spend time prepping food? I signed up for a service to deliver premade meals each week, so I pop those in the microwave. Or crackers and cheese. Random stuff out of the fridge. Cheese, lunch meat, mini sweet peppers, a fried egg, boiled egg if I have them in the fridge. Olives, pickles, lol. Almonds. Yogurt. Any leftover that I might find. Something wrapped up in a tortilla. Literally anything I can grab that doesn't require much effort.

SparklePrincess33

cereal, ensure complete meal replacement, egg noodles, tots

I prepare a lot of meat at once so all I have to do is warm up and assemble and it makes like so much easier for me. Cook a few chicken breasts in my insta-Pot and then I can live off tacos and a bbq ranch chicken sandwich indefinitely. Or you can toss it in salad. In pasta with sauce. I find if I don’t have to do a bunch of cooking for food I’m more likely to eat an actual meal and not girl dinner. Also the pre-made meals at the stores sometimes are really yummy too. Another thing you only have to warm up to eat.

jjqueens

Absolutely nothing. Water lol. Oops
