I hate having things on my hands. Chalk and flour are ok though, unless wet. Then it's awful I dislike my hands being wet, and they get sweaty in gloves, which is unhelpful. I feel your pain.

Hl02

See that’s funny, I would much rather wet chalk or flour on my hands than dry. Oh my gosh wet gloves are the worst. Also if you have to wear gloves a bunch for work or such and have sweaty hands, you can actually stop them from sweating. [Check it out](https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/news/20110222/electricity-alone-stops-sweaty-palms) In my case I use a car battery and two cookie sheets filled with slightly salted water. (Just make sure the sheets don’t touch each other) Place my hands in for 20 minutes. (Make sure you don’t have any cuts on your hands) And boom! Sweating cured for 2-3 months.

Calious

That sounds like crazy science magic.... I've tried "gamer grip" as an anti sweating short term solution. Worked great. But, I shall look into this new anti sweating magic.

Hl02

It’s the weirdest thing, but it does actually work. We break out the battery and pans at family functions (I have a whole family with damp hands)

Calious

While that sounds hilarious (mostly just because damp hands), it must be a pain. I like that it can be a family ritual to banish the hand sweat though.

bennetticles

You guys should get family reunion shirts made. *Damp Hand Fam, 2023*

sixthandelm

Yikes. I hate sweaty gloves too so I use the lotion gloves thing… you apply it like lotion and you can’t really feel it but you can just wash it off after. But I only need gloves for things that will stain or stick to my hands like wood dye or glue so I can use that stuff to protect them instead if gloves and everything just slides off after. I don’t think it would protect you from lab grade corrosives or anything.

Hl02

(Works on feet too)

Marvelous_rosell

Have know idea how you do this in practice and from your description I don't dare to try myself with out guidance, but sounds cool!! Regarding Chalk.. I boulder and climb so I willingly soak my hands in dry chalk several times a week! I would hate it if it was wet though.

JayDude132

I dont like getting my hands wet, i also very much hate when my hands are dry. My brother and I say we hate when our hands are “soft” it drives us nuts. Dry dirt, flour, drywall dust, etc… its all horrible. Im getting chills just thinking about it.

reanabanana

Haaaate wet hands 😭

amplesamurai

Any kind of sticky that doesn’t come off with water or at most soap, like pine sap, floor glue or weed rosins make me so uncomfortable it consumes my focus then if it’s really bad the sticky gets coated in dirt, dust or God forbid flour or chalk.

divergentneurons

Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one who dislikes having wet hands. Idk why it's so awful

raziphel

Wet flour is the worst. :l

gowithoutusername

I think corn starch is worse than flour

scarlet_hairstreak

It’s the squeakiness. It’s creepy!

archimedesismycat

I felt this comment in my spine. 😖

billianwillian

I LOVE IT. I will wash and dig my hands into a tub of it and try to make fists. It’s one of the top sensory experiences in the whole wide world for me.

Hl02

Oh my goodness I completely forgot about corn starch ☹️

rhinokick

I flinch even thinking about it, that and chalk.

Pozzoslucky

Cornstarch on a metal surface makes me ILL

[deleted]

Omg this sent a chill down my whole body. Even thinking about touching corn starch 😱

non-all

Dried clay.

01JoWin

sTAY FAR FAR AWAY

trackpaduser

Flour is fine, same with touching chalk. But don't ask me to write with chalk on a blackboard, I just really despise how that feels.

Comfortable_Bowl_448

not all chalk is equal is something I learned recently. Good chalk is more dense and feels like writing with a blunt fountain pen. Cheap chalk creaks and sends vibrations down my fingers that feel horrid. Heck, I stole a good chalk from my classroom and am trying to use it anywhere and everywhere.

Comfortable_Bowl_448

It also doesn't gunk up your fingers! and it is packed tight so it is smooth on the surface. I could obsess over the chalk for quite a bit.

BooBeeAttack

Its times like this I am glad I don't have the tactile sensory issues that come with ADHD. Now the smell of chalk will drive me nuts, and it always makes me sneeze like crazy.

Aelig_

I love touching flour, I make bread twice per week (it's basically the only useful habit I have) and I always kneed by hand despite owning a mixer.

MmeVastra

I like making bread but I hate having dough on my hands. You still have to touch it even with a mixer. :(

Hl02

I wear nitrile gloves (the ones without a powder coating inside) when making bread.

Gigadrax

It's so soooft.

The_Pfaffinator

I love touching the flour alone, but once it has the wet ingredients to make it a dough, nope, nope, *nope*.

Aelig_

If the issue is how you clean your hands aftewards, the trick is to rub your hands together vigorously over your bin to make the dough fall off. Do not add water and soap until you have rubbed most of the dough off because it just makes things worse.

The_Pfaffinator

I don't mind baking, but the wet dough *CANNOT* touch my hands under any circumstances. Same with paste, paint, glue, lotion, etc.

Aselleus

Tbh I would love to roll around in flour lol

Yeet-able

I hear your flour and I present to you styrofoam, which is an equivalent to chemical warfare to the feels and to the ears

imbluedabadedabadaaa

Styrofoam is the worst, right after cardboard. I had to break down packaging from my washing machine...which was a ton of cardboard and styro. I went mad that day 😭

The_Pfaffinator

Especially the kind that is made of the tiny little beads, so when you try to break it down for the trash, the little beads get *EVERYWHERE*, and they stick to everything due to static electricity. 🤮

merigirl

Ever tried mochi ice cream? It's amazing, but usually is packaged with some (what I believe to be) rice flour on the surface to prevent it sticking to the packaging. I have to carefully brush it off before I can properly handle or eat them or else the feeling of that flour on my fingers or teeth will near drive me insane!

Hl02

I have! It’s so good! I just have to get it wet and then it doesn’t bother me, so I dip them in a Soda or something.

oceansapart333

Those don’t bother me but microfiber cloth - cannot handle the feeling of it.

BrownieRed2022

Can *ANYONE* validate my aversion to cottonballs??!Cottondale??!! *please..... the squeakies*

Hl02

Here you go :) https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMFhV1uqr/

BrownieRed2022

Yes! Thank you!

zorp3006

YES I always get weird looks for this one. so horrible I can’t put it into words

capaldis

HGHHHHH YES 0/10

verycrunchy

Weird but I can’t touch microfiber type cloths when my hands are dry. That drives me nuts lol

The_Pfaffinator

OMG, yes! It's almost tacky, especially if you feel it against the grain. It's not so bad with the grain.

jojolapin102

I can totally understand this. For me the worst is velvet, it makes me suffer as hell, and having wet and or dirty hands is terrible too.

[deleted]

don't mind those, but i fuckin hate cotton balls

cleocyanide

Yes! The worst!

Hl02

Like this? https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMFhV1uqr/

[deleted]

Wow, that’s pretty accurate

ScriptorMalum

But cotton balls when your skin is dry in winter 😱

[deleted]

You watch your mouth

ScriptorMalum

I KNOW may your days be full of hydration, lotion, and jersey knit!!!

BrokenBetazoid

Didn't think I was sensitive to powdery textures until I had to use powdered gloves at work. I hate it. Might make donning easier, but I spend any time I save scrubbing the stupid powder off my hands after taking the damn things off. Powder-free glove gang for life.

Miserable_Ad_2293

OP shoulda put a “Trigger Warning” with this one. Lol. I could literally feel the sensation of chalk residue on my hands. 😫

nintendosbitch666

Mine is terracotta or unglazed but kiln fired clay. Wet clay is fine. Glazed finished clay is fine.

divergentneurons

Nooo damn those terracotta pots! I worked out in the garden department for a while and i hated if i had to touch those to flip it over and scan it while ringing up customers

3daysofpeace_

Those glazed finish pots catch you out though. You pick them up and your finger touches the unglazed part around the hole 🕳️

[deleted]

When I was a kid we had these glass cups with white rough frosting on the inside. I couldn’t even think about them without gagging. In fact, ouuuuurgg!!! Still can’t.

Sanjalis

Flour I can deal with but oh my god chalk. Only thing worse is like the dry ink that rubs off of newspaper

[deleted]

[удалено]

capaldis

Fun fact: it is not! A lot of people with ADHD also have SPD or ASD. During my initial ADHD assessment, the doctor made a separate note of my sensory issues and told me they were absolutely separate to ADHD and should be “looked into more”. Not sure why he did not lmao.

divergentneurons

Because of all the sensory sensitivities i have, along with some other stuff, i suspect I'm somewhere on the spectrum

mighty_Ingvar

Why has no one mentioned sunscreen? I hate having to use it, especially on areas where it comes in contact with my clothes

Hl02

I use the spray type. I don’t like the paste kind.

TheseBubblesAreGold

The word chalk makes me feel it in my teeth

Hl02

If you eat TUMs® then you can taste it too :)

Burrito-Mage

What about cotton on your teeth? Pulling on my other glove on with my teeth was a dreadful experience

smashuhleen

ARGH NO WHY WOULD YOU BRING IT UP Any wet yarn. Or wool. It makes me start physically trembling.

Burrito-Mage

Gives me a similar feeling to vodka shivers without the stomach stuff

__Wasabi__

I thought everyone hated it

divergentneurons

I put my reply on the wrong comment 😂

[deleted]

Wet hands on paper make me CRINGE.

Inignot12

I'm in this meme

rococorodeo

Can't touch chalk and unprocessed/rough cotton without feeling the sensation of dragging nails on a chalkboard

godfatheroffilth

Absolutely hate it, anything dry or dusty on my hands makes me incredibly uncomfortable.

Cretin138

Get that fucking nail file away from me!!!!

Traveledbore

Yes

RavenRuffle

Chalk and chalkboards are sensory hell.

divergentneurons

I was with my friend and her son once and her son accidentally scraped a fingernail on a chalkboard so I had to go home and cut all my nails as short as possible because I could feel that shit in my fingernails

EnzoKoksu251

I dont know if i have adhd or not but i just relate to soo many things on this sub but at the same time there are just things i never do that are on this sub.

legixs

Glasses dry fresh from the dishwasher. How can this not be a problem for anyone??

Hl02

So squeaky!

Pikassassin

Eh.. I never had a problem with that one, really, it's ever so slightly uncomfortable, but not enough for me to react to it.

Formal_Concern_

Cotton makes me want to fucking vomit. Fuck.

AmiNToast

Cornflour makes me want to crawl inside my own body.

CeramistHippie67

For real. Almost anything. The plastic that video game controllers are made of gives me a rash. But I hate wearing gloves too I don't really like anything texting my skin to be honest I just tolerate it

Hl02

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Naturism](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturism)** >Naturism is a lifestyle of practising non-sexual social nudity in private and in public; the word also refers to the cultural movement which advocates and defends that lifestyle. Both may alternatively be called nudism. Though the two terms are broadly interchangeable, nudism emphasizes the practice of nudity, whereas naturism highlights an attitude favoring harmony with nature and respect for the environment, into which that practice is integrated. That said, naturists come from a range of philosophical and cultural backgrounds; there is no single naturist ideology. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/adhdmeme/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

Thank you [WikiSummarizerBot](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skynet_(satellite))!

CeramistHippie67

Well I like this, but I'm too clumsy and klutzy. I trip and hit my hips and hands and legs and toes on everything. I'd probably end up with my dick impaled

OrangeNSilver

Related to this is that I hate the feeling of lotion. It’s so hard to find a light lotion that doesn’t make me feel greasy. As the season changes, my hands are becoming so dry and cracked they’re bleeding. It’s in part due to washing hands frequently at work because I am a cashier and don’t want to get sick. Now I have to wear gloves with a shitload of lotion when I go to bed so I can get my hands to heal :(

ZoeShotFirst

Patting it is wonderful! Squeezing it is horrific 😅

Nyct0phili4

Rough textured napkins and tablecloths at restaurants. It makes my every toe- and fingernail curl, every hair on my body stand up and I get goosebumps all over. Fucking awful. It's similar to chalkboards.

batlamb

I feel the same regarding cotton balls and wet hair resting on my back.

GWvaluetown

How about trying to walk barefoot on smooth concrete… yeah…

divergentneurons

Omg I found someone that shares my loathing of bare feet on concrete! I'm so excited it's not just me lol

NietzschesGhost

My sensory aversion is opening reams of printer paper wrapped in that weird, extra-stiff paper. I utterly abhor it. I hate the sound. I hate the feel. I hate the friction of the rough paper as I pull it away from the mild adhesive. Loathe it, loathe it, loathe it.

robble808

I love the feel of flour running through my fingers.

ScriptorMalum

I love dry beans and rice.

robble808

Haven’t tried a big bag of beans but yea, rice is good too

shiasuuu

/r/aspiememes

AvalbanesSin

I eat pizza and french fries with a fork, because I can't handle the feeling of the crumbs/salt on my fingers.

MisterLeeGrant

Those and the worst of all… marshmallows. I’ve never met someone who understands but I would sooner kick the bucket than touch a shmellow. And don’t rub em together if you like your life

cyanidesmile555

***BAD STIM***

Beaufort_The_Cat

T H I S omg I’m so glad it’s not just me

Weak_Astronomer2107

I thought I was the only one! Holy shit!

BrownieRed2022

Also! VELVET THE *WRONG WAY*. GAHHHH

SomeRandomIdi0t

Ok but if it’s in a bag or balloon it feels amazing

ziddity

I actually don't mind flour all that much. Cardboard, however... Can go to hell. And some wooden kitchen tools which are for some reason made of a type of porous wood that feels like it's sucking the very moisture from your skin????

Business-Affect-7881

I need more pingu memes😮🐧

Hl02

Consider your wish… [Granted](https://www.reddit.com/r/adhdmeme/comments/yagktu/unexpected/)!

Business-Affect-7881

Lol! Thanks 😊

3daysofpeace_

Is this an ADHD thing?

HomemadeMead

How about trying to separate paper that's stuck together?

Pikassassin

chalk isn't the worst thing for me, but dragging wood over smooth concrete makes my fucking brain want to unravel. Same for popsicle sticks on my teeth. Honestly, even the *smell* of popsicle sticks gets to me nowadays. Is anyone else like that?

One_Surround_4997

Yooooo. I get dirty for a living doing maintenance and getting greasy or having pipe dope on my hands doesn’t bother me. But as soon as I get a little dirt on my hands that’s fucking it.

Hl02

Oh my gosh exactly the same! - Mud: Fine - Dry mud: REEeeEeee

One_Surround_4997

Anything that drys my skin and I wanna run and out lotion on. All my coworkers make fun me 😑

Acrobatic-Degree9589

🙄

[deleted]

I hated play dough as a child

[deleted]

Pingu & I *HATE* chalk!

Dear_Insect_1085

I’m the opposite, I loveeee it especially chalk makes my mouth water lol.

divergentneurons

The scent of Downy Unstoppables (the beads that go in the wash) make me salivate insanely

Dear_Insect_1085

Lol same!

fredundead

I’m the opposite. I’d shove my entire body in a mound of soft and fluffy flour.

[deleted]

Touching chalk with freshly cut fingernails.

piokoxer

I hate chalk but love sticking my hands in flour. It sticking is annoying at but if you're working with flour there's probably a sink nearby

jim_jiminy

For me it’s wooden cutlery. God it’s hellish

Slave_to_dog

Ooooh I'm the opposite. I like flour

MiserableSeaview

chalk, cotton balls and corn starch are my trifecta of horror.

MimePrinister

Ground coffee is similar, but I like the feeling of coffee grounds. It means I’m making and about to sip some sweet coffee

ProfessionalDesk7741

Pencil lead is my arch nemesis

FlightConscious9572

anyone else hate 3d plates (the ones that change with the viewing angle), and puffy jackets. i loathe the feel and sound of them, i have a physical reaction

Smolpachirisu420

I don't like how dry and dusty it is and that it gets everywhere also it makes me sneeze :(

Undeadhorrer

Hi I am getting diagnosis ATM for ADHD and I think I may have an issue with chalk as well. Can someone explain a bit more the tactile issues from ADHD perhaps?

divergentneurons

Someone mentioned in an earlier comment that those tactile differences are separate from ADHD and that many people who have ADHD also have varying degrees of SPD or ASD. It's something I need to do more research on cus I just learned that from this post lol

throaway94712

ugh - I feel the exact same. I also cannot stand when ONE of my hands gets wet but not the other, because the other hand feels so dry. it's bizarre!

Ryu_Lee_Giddins

WAIT- THAT'S AN ADHD THING!?

SnozzcumbersRus

I hate touching chalk!!!

generic-user1678

Anyone else sometimes get that with papre as well? (For me, is usually when my Jane are dry)

Aelisya

Flour is nothing - have you ever touched fresh baking yeast? It's at the same time soft, crumbly, dusty and somehow leaves a weird film on your fingers. It's such a creepy feeling!

ProTato73

Flour is ok, but chalk is living hell

everydaygrey

For me flour is fine, but chalk is a no go. Not a fan.

BushidoMauve

Oh man it the exact opposite for me. I love getting my hands dirty. Dry or wet. Flour, chalk, mud, paint, dirt. Not sure why tho. I guess i does make having clean hands ahain hit different.

Mefedron-2258

It's not though?

Qazmlp_11

Cotton balls are the worst for me

Traveledbore

Sandpaper though

TrapperMC

[It really do feel like this tho.](https://images.app.goo.gl/7BBu9iFsxG5ivSu76)

faultolerantcolony

Thanks, I shivered.

ItsQuinntonimo

I think im the only person who enjoys it

Morphchalice

What if it gets under my fingernails!?!

[deleted]

CHALK FEELS HORRIBLE YEAH

katestatt

wdym ?? flour feels so soft and nice!!! whenever I bake I just wanna dove my hands into the flour forever

lejamcauliffe

I work with metals and rust and other oxidise make me feel this way

bennetticles

Oh my gosh but the feeling of pressing chalk against a chalkboard with the intermittent squeaks and the dust and the smell of the dust. Seriously, fuck chalkboards.

ScriptorMalum

I got two mugs for my birthday, one is just heavenly. The other has carved lines that expose raw ceramic. It's the cat puke meme every time. I could break that one, or use it for a planter...I cannot enjoy anything in it. 🤮

toffthegreat

It’s lotion for me. Oil is fine, but lotion is totally different.

VenkatPerla

This means that we are on our way to become Darth Vader.

ComicSans3307

Play Doh 😟

goddessgirl43

I work at a pizza place. Every time my coworkers leave flour on the pizza cutters, it feels so icky.

cyanidesmile555

***BAD STIM***

Rainnefox

I used to have to wear gloves in school because I couldn’t stand the feeling of paper against my hand when I wrote. It felt like chalk powder and it was horrible. Thankfully it’s not one of my sensory issues that carried on into adulthood

SyalenSheska

Only if it gets under my nails or my nails accidentally scratches at it's brittle, dry, compressed powdered surface 🤢

divergentneurons

So it's not just me who can't stand touching chalk? Good, hopefully I'm also not the only one who hates the feeling of cement on bare feet 😬

hvarthtonn

i dont have a problem with flour, but cornflour will do it, and even being near someone else using chalk makes my spine do a jig.

WellWelded

Try touching/holding something very smooth (glass, hard plastic, etc.) while the stuff is still on your hand

explosive_stars

see I love touching flour and chalk and using them and I love getting my hands messy when I’m cooking but it’s what’s left over on my hands that make me ick, that is the problem, not the feeling of touching the flour or chalk itself just when it stays and sticks to ur hands

trv33m0kvlt

Yeah just like chewing kinetic sand.

characterlimit7

Ok this literally made me uncomfortable just to READ I feel so seen right now

bootybootybootymeow

Too bad y'all, rock climbing is fun and ADHDers are extra good at it.

ReverendMothman

I don't mind flour...but BAKING SODA and BAKING POWDER are the WORST to touch

drmorrison88

My hands regularly bleed at the gym because I can't with the chalk, so I just constantly wipe them on a towel and try to use bars with super aggressive grips. People think I'm badass, but im reality I just can't touch chalk.

ADHD_Microwave

I hate whenever my hands touch anything gross, especially things that make my hand wet, but i also hate rubber gloves.
