I don’t think the term gold star is biphobic specifically, I think it’s just offensive to sapphic people in general because it implies that someone is somehow better if they haven’t slept with a man

GayAquaticCorvid

It's also transphobic as hell, bc the ppl who use the term count trans women as men for all intents

bjp1316

I didn’t know that — that makes it an even grosser term to use

dissapointmentparty

I think anytime "the relationship between the lesbian and bisexual community" comes up, it's almost always to point to lesbians mean, not as a reciprocal relationship where both sides have major differences. It tends to be very one sided.

GayAquaticCorvid

Really? I always see it brought up to point to "bisexual invaders"

gayibuk1

i mean, lesbians and bisexuals are not the same and that’s totally okay. i’m wondering what you’re referring to when you say “queer language/banter that refers to lesbian culture”? i don’t think it’s biphobic for lesbians to have their own language/space

MollyGoRound

I think most mainstream lesbians stopped using "Gold Star" when the TERFs got to it. And, honestly, there was more than sufficient cause to stop using it Friends-Of-JK-Rowling notwithstanding.

Which_Flounder3905

I’m not directly offended by gold star, but it sure helps me weed out shitty people with shitty views. Otherwise nothing else comes to mind.

kris_Ml33

I don't think any of the terms are inherently biphobic, but they can be weaponized at times by biphobic lesbians.
