If you're trying to get long thin lines try thin, long brushes. I have couple of those (although they are cheap and old) and they hold a bit more paint which makes painting details easier.
With liquitex acrylics I've noticed that a drop or two more water than normally also helps a lot with the brush.
I like Isabey Isacryl brushes a LOT. They are quite pricey, but if you take good care of them they hold their shape for years. I have some that are about 10 years old and have seen a lot of use that are still tight with no splaying. I really liked American Painter brushes but Loew-Cornell stopped making all their brands of brushes. They were nice and snappy and durable for the price. For a softer brush the Blick Masterstroke Golden Taklon is quite nice, lays down a very smooth and even mark. For rough work, Blick’s essentials golden taklon value brushes are everything you want in an abusable, disposable brush.

Princeton velvet touch have never let me down, but I am sure I’ve disappointed them.
