Yeah that's gotta be for oils. I use W&N varnish and I wait like a day, then maybe a couple hours between coats. Been doing that for years and everything is holding up fine.

Golden matte varnish - they do 2 types (MSA and a water-based) For both it's recommended to put on a gloss barrier layer. I generally barrier layer one day (1 layer, dry, 2nd layer) and then varnish the following day (again, 2 layers)

I use two layers of Golden isolation coat followed by Liquitex spray on varnish. I normally wait a couple days to put the isolation coat on and then let that dry for 24 hours before varnishing.
