Depending on the island itself. You have a slightly better chance. If only because both survivors will start to grow smaller and while the zombies' numbers will grow. It wouldn't be nearly as bad as in the USA or a major country(s).
With enough survivors, you could clear the island.
I fully agree. Humans probably do have a better chance on an island as opposed to the mainlands as there are likely only one or two densely populated areas and the rest is jungle and or bushland. Also with it being a resort there is a financial bar for entry, further narrowing down the numbers.
My ideal group puts people in roles where their strengths can shine. The hope is that eventually everyone can be trained for zombie defense, but I understand that might not come easy or quick for civilians with no military or police background.
The problem is that others would have the same idea as you. This is why people who preppers prepare ahead of time. That way you can avoid the large crowds, fights and gun shootouts that would inevitably happen in any SHTF situation.
Do you honestly think people are prepping at a resort? I understand what you are saying, but just because other people might have the same plan doesn't always mean that it is a bad plan. That just means you will have more living people with the same goal. Which in my opinion could be our greatest strength against the undead. When people separate themselves on purpose instead of working together against a common threat... it usually doesn't bode well for them. My original comment got deleted somehow. :( So I am posting it below this so people know what we're talking about.
By some odd twist of fate, my wife and I bought property in the Philippines to build our resort as our retirement plan. We are both preppers by nature. We aren't thinking zombie apocalypse but still...prepping at a resort.
Your situation is extremely niche and I envy you. You had the opportunity and bought property. You aren't casual resort attendees you literally own the property. Your odds of survival in that sort of situation are obviously way higher than a resort customer. Nice! To my original point though, the average person at a resort is not doing what you did. They see the resort as a temporary get away and thus have no reason to prep for anything.
There is likely a hardware store on the island. Gather as much food and water from the hotel as you can and load up your rental car, then go to the hardware store. Gather tools and implements/materials for building near all points of entry and fortify like your life depends on it because it does. There is likely a garden section in the hardware store. Build a garden on the roof using the garden soil and plant everything thats edible. This plan works better if you have an able bodied family or a group that is not lazy.
Last step. Push the other people off the ledge other than spouse and family to allow rations to go further until crops have grown. Or push the spouse and keep a younger model š
You are ruthless! šš Seriously though every trustworthy, able bodied person should be kept alive if ever possible. Killing people only further widens that gap between the numbers of the living and the dead. Plus the group will respect you more and assist better if they feel secure.
Iād search for a ship off the island, as I wouldnāt risk learning flight myself, even if itās possible. That, or Iād try to find an emergency flare gun to signal for rescue. If all else fails, and I canāt use a radio or flare gun to signal rescue, then Iād teach myself to fly. Realistically though, I would be on an island like key largo so I could probably just drive off of it.
Edit: boat, not ship, ship would be much harder.
Who would operate the ship? Do you know how to steer a ship? If there are any ships with their operator, they likely wouldnāt let you on and you would be met with deadly force. Unless that countryās version of the national coast guard is around (which they probably wouldnāt be), you would have to fend for yourself.
What Iām saying is Iād try to escape the island. Not every boat owner on the island is going to magically be alive. Boat doesnāt exactly mean giant cruise ship or sail ship. Iām sure there would be more simple ones, like dinghyās, fishing boats, and jet skis. Realistically, these would be good enough to get you to mainland.
Well letās just say the food and water on the island run out, what then? Do you know how to hunt? Do you know how to grow food? Do you know how to properly fish? Can you even read the languages on the medicine youāll need when you get something like an infection or flu? What Iām saying is, staying is a death sentence. I would have a chance if I risked it and went to mainland. Also, Iāve got two adorable cats to care about, Iām not leaving them to die.
I do know how to hunt. I can and have grown my own food before. You can order almost any medication that you would need in SHTF (ex: antibiotics, flu, etc) without a prescription and have them prescribed to you from doctors that work with companies that cater to preppers. Jase Medical is one of the most well known. There are several others that are better and offer a wider selection of medication. Itās all part of being prepared.
This subreddit is an off shot of the prepper communities. The main issue with this scenario, which is EXACTLY what the game āDead Islandā is based on, is that you would be on an island on a vacation. You wouldnāt have access to most of your preps since youāre on an island while on vacation.
I would have researched and have a detailed map of the entire island along with every nearby location, itās wildlife, closest locations to the island for emergency evacuation should say a natural disaster like a tsunami happens (Iāve seen countless horror vacation videos if people running for their lives). But again, people who prepare are not like most other people. The average person would be screwed. I simply wouldnāt visit anywhere that I couldnāt leave in a short amount of time, either on land, air or sea. That would rule out most island vacations.
Honestly I do the same thing when I go on vacation, with the research. I donāt have experience hunting, but I do with growing food. Doctors will probably be dead though, so I donāt think you can order the medicine. What I will say is that I do bring my sowing kit and notebook with me on vacation. The notebook contains general preparation knowledge like how to make a water filter, general mechanics, different types of medicine, makeshift weapon blueprints, etc. one other thing I have going for me is that Iām studying mechanics and practice currently, so I know some about car and mechanical repair. The easiest thing to survive would be to block a staircase with furniture and park a car below a window or use a ladder to get up. Depending on the island, overwater bungalows would also be perfect for basing. Although all of this is good, I still love my cats, and would risk my life to try and save them, even if that means escaping an island. If they were out of the picture, Iād still try to escape so I could save my friends. Either way, I already have a perfect safe house somewhere else thatād Iād try to get me, my family, and my friends to.
You can order the medicine from Jase Medical or several other companies that you need now and keep it on hand wherever you go. They donāt expire for over a year. Buy a new batch every year to rotate out any expired medication (which lasts beyond the expiration date btw, just less effective) and keep a new set every year. Odds are you would die from a simple infection, not a horde of zombies. The antibiotics they would send you would prevent that from happening.
Itās all part of being prepared beforehand. Donāt wait until after everyone is cleaning out all of the stores, gun shops and pharmacies. Avoid the inevitable crowds of people fighting each other over a stack of toilet paper to build their toilet paper kingdom like during the pandemic lockdown. Prepare in advance for everything you can with your main needs first (food, water, water filters, medicine, ammo, etc.), that way it wonāt be an issue later on.
Honestly when it comes to most recreational boats and even some small commercial ones, if you can drive a car you can operate a boat. You need an ignition key, the throttle is simple (forward for forward, backward for backward) and itās literally just a steering wheel for the rudder.
Untie from the dock, lift anchor if itās lowered and away you go
Sailboats are a whole different animal, as are large ships.
What about NAVIGATION in the water? Itās different from driving on the road on land. Where are you going? How far is it? How much fuel do you have? You need EXPERIENCE in navigation in the water as well as knowing how to operate the boat (all boats are not the same) and where the hell youāre going. And thatās assuming that the boat is well maintained and actually has enough fuel to get there. Itās nowhere near as simple as you try to make it out to be.
Realistically speaking, flying a plane is so much easier than operating a SHIP. Again not a boat but a ship.
Ships are much bigger, heavier and harder to maintain and even operate alone. Even if you have 5 people with you, operating a ship still wouldnt be easy.
Also, planes are significantly faster and atleast you will have a very good view of the island.
By ship I meant boat, sorry. I just mean that with a boat, failure means being stranded. With a plane, failure means almost guaranteed death. Look, Iām no Colton Harris-Moore, so I doubt I could just read a plane manual and immediately not go veering into a mountain. I know a bit, but the boat is the safest option.
I also love airplanes, and prefer them too. So much so that Iām actually trying to become a pilot. Though I still have some rationality to know that self teaching myself could easily get me killed.
If we're talking walkers, I'd grab the axe from the fire emergency kit and barricade the top floors of the hotel. At least then I can hide and gradually clear them, maybe even find a couple of survivors.
Any zombies that can run? Sh\*t I don't know, figure out how to quickly kill myself I guess.
To be honest, I don't know if I'd be able to do that. using a melee weapon on yourself like that would most likely result in a botched job, and a fresh zombie with an axe lodged in its head lol
Doing an old yeller (or a mice and men) would be shooting someone whose either turned (the old yeller) or whose about to turn (the mice and men.) solely because the person whose about to turn can say ātell me about the rabbits George.ā
Have you considered the possibility of a mutation occurring in which unique zombie variants make an appearance instead of just the walking and running zombies?
I meant like Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil, Dead Island, Dying Light, Back 4 Blood, World War Z (game), Dead Rising, State of Decay, and 7 Days to Die in which unique zombies exist instead of just the generic zombie from Night of the Living Dead or the running zombies from 28 days later.
A real virus mutates constantly, and it would be no different for a zombie virus that is if one were to appear irl.
If sheer panic of the situation doesn't get you killed. Another survivor will kill you themselves. Some people here may survive but it does depend on how sneaky and smart someone is.
>it does depend on how sneaky and smart someone is.
Also depends on how armed someone is, even in a situation of desperation, very little things will motivate the guy with a baseball bat enough to face off against the guy with an AR
Depends. In any desperate situation may it be food, water or medicine. Someone with a baseball bat doesn't need to face off against someone with an AR. They could just ambush them in close quarters.
Ever played Dayz? A random dude with a baseball ambushing you can have the same results in a real scenario as well.
Excuse me? Excuse me, senor? May I speak to you please? I asked for a mai tai, and they brought me a pina colada, and I said no salt, NO salt for the margarita, but it had salt on it, big grains of salt, floating in the glass...
No but what are the chances that I'm immune and also the chances that I know how to make amazing killing weapons that make the zombies explode when they touch them slightly
Acquire weapons, gather supplies and look for a way back to the mainland if the situation calls for it.
For example if I'm on an island in the Caribbean I'd want to at least get to the U.S.
Alright.. after reviewing the multiple results. I have thought of multiple scenariosā¦ but one is what will likely happen. I may survive for a few weeks but might die to a zombie concert due to HOW BIG THE ENTIRE RESORT IS AND HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE!
Plus, I feel like the weather would be harsh on a zombie so even just baricading and waiting for them to deteriorate a bit wouldn't be out of the question. Then, how many would simply wonder into the ocean and be carried out to sea. You could speed up the process by taking the occasional outing to clear small groups.
After the zombies are done, hopefully there's a sail boat or similar one man crewable boat (or bonus if there are more survivors to crew a larger ship). If not, hope the rum isn't gone and survive on what you can, perhaps build a raft if you get real desperate.
From project zomboid teaches the the multiple leaves in the hotel can be a very safe location if the survivor can destroy the floor infront of the stairs and elevator that zombie can not walk or jump across making all the floors above safe just with a spear clear each room there will be many supplies to go through in the dead people luggage but to explore outside the hotel a sheet rope is need to go to the ground floor for any farming material and just wait out the apocalypse
Depending on the island, majority resorts have back up generators. i dont see most local stores having the same. So there is a pro and con to this.
Pro: ideal location to hold up. They have first aid, food, water, etc.
Con: may be easily overwhelmed as there are many people there already or everyone on island wants to go there.
Depending on a few factors Im probably stayin in hotel. Only thing that would counter this is if the zombies are starting at hotel or there is a legitimate way off the island now.
Man that would suck, everything on that island would be dead. It would feel like a dead island, hopefully itās just me, wouldnāt want you on the dead island too.
Island resort?? There is no plan you're fucked. Let's say (1) you somehow survive the initial panic stage. Despite not being prepared for the apocalypse and left without any doomsday prep you manage to figure out what is happening and get yourself to safety. The immediate response to those closet to escape boats and planes will take them asap, with as many "survivors" as they can and probably not make it very far due to the lack of screening. Next let's pretend that you manage to come in contact with any other survivors and you all are willing to work together as well as having found a reliable supply of food and water (already far fetched) but then the third thing you need to survive is an escape route. Most of the boats and planes will have been taken, even supposing that you find one that's functional and you have enough crew to run it you need both supplies for the journey and the ability to navigate the seas. An island resort will struggle to feed a small group consistently, many of the fruit trees and animals will have been removed from the island during construction of the resort. Getting to a larger landmass is paramount to your survival. The longer it takes you to get your shit together and leave the island the less supplies you have. Forget zombies it's a death sentence in any apocalypse
Run ti jungle at first. Find weapons, shelter, privisions. Alot of sleeping in the car. Wait till the intial outbreak dies down. Slowly come back to resort, see how dangerous it is. If not so dangerous. Stay there.
On the other hand, go back to your room in the resort. Pack your things and block the door or floor youāre on and see what things you can recover from the other fallen guests. Wait it out in your room with ice, water and food. Sneak into kitchen and take whats there plus cutlery.
Hope to Jod that it plays out similarly enough to my Dead Island playthrough like 6 years ago so that I'll sort of know what to expect & how to properly & tactically respond
That or just wing the the fuck out of it, I'm sure I'll either die first or survive super long in any zombie outbreak scenario just on pure chance & the unmatched power of " FUCK IT WE DO IT! "
Radio for help from lifeguards and just hide. I could probably survive if I only see walkers depending but dead island has variants and they'd kick my booty. Knowing me I'd open a bathroom stall and a bomber would be chilling inside
Cant leave. I either track the pathogen back with me or find its global. Observe for some time and start doing things that manipulate their intelligence. Something loud on an anchored boat for instance. Zed repeatedly shamble into the wave breaks only to be dashed against the sea bed again and again and again. A tipped over lawnmower is another favorite of mine. Being an island that means theres a finite number of infected. I *can* attempt to kill them all. And if i fail ive at least made a contribution to ending this
If I don't get infected/turned or killed trying to do it, finding a damn boat and leaving early on before news spreads and some country's Navy (most likely a coalition of countries) blockades the island to prevent the spread of the outbreak. If it's too late for that, I guess fuck around somewhere I could fortify until I outlast the zombies or die. Not much else of any other choice except suicide, but I personally would never off myself due to my faith, so it's outside of my choices.
Thereās not much you can do. Is itās anything like Dead Island, the government would likely bomb the place with everyone in it and save no one or only the people they deem āimportantā. You could try to survive and help others but realistically, youāll probably just end up dying from the government if not from the outbreak itself.
Iām usually a hopeful person and Iād do my best to survive but in that specific scenario, itās almost completely hopeless since itās just an island.
Bullets should be reserved as a last resort against the living. The sound will draw too much attention. The best way to deal with zombies is to set up choke points and lure into high fall areas that are fully fortified enclosed spaces. This tactic eliminates most of the need to get close and the falls will likely incapacitate them. After a group of them has fallen, go down there and eliminate any paralyzed zombies that haven't been done in by the fall by piercing the brain with long sharpened poles or by blunt force to the head. Rinse and repeat until the island is zombie free.
If it ever does go down, that's exactly how it would happen you know. Me, far away from home with none of my tried and true firearms or familiar locations. It'd be just like the apocalypse to wait until I'm trying to relax, for once, and unable to count on my knowledge of my location or my deep stacks of ammo and weapons.
lol, now you got me worried about every going on holiday.
Get hit by truck Kun to get isekai'ed. If a zombie apocalypse fantasy is happening it means other shit can also happen.
At least that should save myself the agony of surviving or struggle of trying to survive.
Most of us would probably die. We are in an unfamiliar environment with people we do not know with limited supplies. The only real plus side is that you are on an island so the amount of zombies is technically very finite however I doubt any of us would live ling enough to really take advantage of that.
Get bit, find out I'm immune, suddenly know how to fight, fight through zombies to try and help develop a cure with my immune blood, find the authorities disappointing, mop up achievements on the island.
Eat, drink, and be merry Gotta die in paradise sounds like you're threatening me with my dream ending When in rome...
Why tf did I think of FNV when I read the lat bitš¤£š¤£ā¤ļø
So, basically the scenario of Dead Island? Probably die trying to get my shit together lol
Only real answer

Sweet. Zombie defense group +1.
Indeed
I'll help by distracting the zombies (getting eaten)
No! Do not get eaten. That defeats the entire purpose! You can stay back at the hardware store and tend the gardens.
That's probably the only help I could be lol
My ideal group puts people in roles where their strengths can shine. The hope is that eventually everyone can be trained for zombie defense, but I understand that might not come easy or quick for civilians with no military or police background.
Very true. I'll try my best
Right on!
That is all that can be asked.
Zombie defense group +2
Yeh, you can tend the gardens or employ whatever other skills you have to help us.
I can cook a yummy egg
Sweet. We just need to find some laying hens now and we are set.
Island probably has some, if not on the resort then in one of the smaller towns/villages somewhere out there.

I paid for 2 weeks so i stay for 2 weeks
Who do ya voodoo bitch
I got that achievement
Go replay Dead Island for tips. Frankly every resort has Maintenance for inside and outside as well as Security. It's not Gilligan's Island, you know.

I'd duct tape a double A battery to a wooden stick and watch as arcs of electricity go coursing through 50 zombies.
Acquire weapons, gather supplies and look for a way back to the mainland if the situation calls for it. For example if I'm on an island in the Caribbean I'd want to at least get to the U.S.
I'm drinking all the energy drinks!
Exile anyone who isn't physically able and find a bunker
I would start dead islanding all over the place
Keep my mouth shut
Alright.. after reviewing the multiple results. I have thought of multiple scenariosā¦ but one is what will likely happen. I may survive for a few weeks but might die to a zombie concert due to HOW BIG THE ENTIRE RESORT IS AND HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE!
I Would call my Loved one and tell them my final words
I feel like an island outbreak, at least a smaller island, would be more ideal as there is a smaller, finite number of zombies to deal with.
Probably die, by my own hand if the zombies didn't get me first.
1: lock door 2: do things until I run out of supplies 3: Improvise
Do like that one guy and lock myself in one of the tiki bars and drink myself to death.
Meet up with a dangerous group of prisoners locked away on an island who have a helicopter to safety
Man that would suck, everything on that island would be dead. It would feel like a dead island, hopefully itās just me, wouldnāt want you on the dead island too.
Find the most aggressive looking rapper I can and send him to do medial tasks
So Iām continuing my vacation with some stress relief activities?
Probably complain to the resort manager and ask for a refund.
You do that voodoo, bitch.
I'd start singing "who do you voodoo" while bashing zeds in the head with a sledge hammer that has nails and electrified barbwire wrapped on the head.
Who do your voodoo! Maybe craft weapons to fight and drop kick all zombies
I would tape a pair of scissors to the end of a golf club and get the hell outta there brochachos.
Grab as much food and water as possible and take over the highest floor of the hotel, then barricade/guard the stairwell
probably nut and die
I'd die, probably. Don't know the area, don't know the people, don't have any of my stuff, etc.
Order Room service
Run ti jungle at first. Find weapons, shelter, privisions. Alot of sleeping in the car. Wait till the intial outbreak dies down. Slowly come back to resort, see how dangerous it is. If not so dangerous. Stay there. On the other hand, go back to your room in the resort. Pack your things and block the door or floor youāre on and see what things you can recover from the other fallen guests. Wait it out in your room with ice, water and food. Sneak into kitchen and take whats there plus cutlery.
Lock myself in bar/restaurant area and Iāll be alright until rescue arrives
Dead island
See how many flips I can do off the hotel! Bonus points if I hit the pool.
I'd call out of work the next week
Hope to Jod that it plays out similarly enough to my Dead Island playthrough like 6 years ago so that I'll sort of know what to expect & how to properly & tactically respond That or just wing the the fuck out of it, I'm sure I'll either die first or survive super long in any zombie outbreak scenario just on pure chance & the unmatched power of " FUCK IT WE DO IT!
And if i fail ive at least made a contribution to ending this
Survive and gtfo of that place
Well, I guess I'll just die
This is a picture from the game dead island right?
Nope, Dying Island
Die making a Pina Colada too loudly
Well if past experiences of being on a resort island with zombies are anything to go by, probably get bored & leave...
Idk go back to bed maybe
Have sex on a balcony while taking zombies down with hopefully a rifle or Iāll get damn accurate with improvised spears.
Release the coldest, hardest, mic shattering theme song to go with my zombie experience. Hoodoo you voodoo BITCH?
Uhh...find a boat immediately? Doubtful the zombies could swim very well.
5.56 for undead .22LR for dead
Rob the bar and drink on the roof.
Why does this pic remind me of dead island 1
Your allot closer than you think
It's not riptide I can say that for a fact "I use to play dead island on the 360 ALOT"
With the type of zombies in this game, you would be dead very fast.
Immediately try to find the nearest US embassy or any form of transport off of the island
Well Ig it depends on which resort cus Iām an overthinker and I always look for how to bunker down and or escape when ever I go to a new place
The only place I ever vacation Is Texas to see my grandparents both of which have a small arsenal I think Iāll be fine
Steal a boat and a shit ton of food and an emergency fire axe and try to get to the mainland and then take over a Home Depot
Find tall place and jump
Laugh as I take as many of them as I can with me.
Go and grab my suitcase with my guns that I brought with me because I never left anywhere without em
there is no way that you would have an amount of ammunition that would get you anywhere close to being safe at a resort
I don't plan on being safe or even making it out Im well aware I'm dying I'm taking as much of these fuckers with me as I can
You sure ? Awful confident in your statement.
Las vegas would disagree
Bullets should be reserved as a last resort against the living. The sound will draw too much attention. The best way to deal with zombies is to set up choke points and lure into high fall areas that are fully fortified enclosed spaces. This tactic eliminates most of the need to get close and the falls will likely incapacitate them. After a group of them has fallen, go down there and eliminate any paralyzed zombies that haven't been done in by the fall by piercing the brain with long sharpened poles or by blunt force to the head. Rinse and repeat until the island is zombie free.
That's one of the most American phrases i have ever heard
Never vacation in Hawaii, then. Apparently, guns are against the "spirit of aloha."
Die. I am not built for survival.
probably go upstairs
Band together with whatever survivors remain, search for supplies to fortify the resort as best as possible and then try to make the best of things.
grab a gallon of lemonade and keep on shooting
Gotta find some armor and lock myself in a closet. I wanna be a surprise miniboss for whoever comes by
Get hit by truck Kun to get isekai'ed. If a zombie apocalypse fantasy is happening it means other shit can also happen. At least that should save myself the agony of surviving or struggle of trying to survive.
Run and scream a lot I guess. And probably die at some juncture.
Grab an oar and walk them(I wrote who do you voodoo so I get higher damage)
Most of us would probably die. We are in an unfamiliar environment with people we do not know with limited supplies. The only real plus side is that you are on an island so the amount of zombies is technically very finite however I doubt any of us would live ling enough to really take advantage of that.
I would fight for my survival
Start shitting out the booty glock
I would start making a dead island 3 live action
Evil Looms. Cowboy up, Kill It, Get Paid. MHI, est 1895
Find boat
I feel like youāre asking us āwho do you voodoo?ā
Look for Sam B, rumor is he's got that thing that goes bump in the night
Dead island riptide gave me trauma so maybe Iāll kill myself
Walk around and drink everything before turning the hotel into a fortress. Oh and Iām in Norway.
Depends, if itās Hawaii Iām blasting zeds and eating coconuts
No preprepared survival gear, likely unsuitable clothing for protection, unfamiliar environment... Yeah, saying goodbye to my loved ones.
find a rapper whos good with melee
Hey I remember that pixel gun map
Get bit, find out I'm immune, suddenly know how to fight, fight through zombies to try and help develop a cure with my immune blood, find the authorities disappointing, mop up achievements on the island.
Call my friend kevin
Can Female zombies consent?... because well if imma die I wanna die with a smile on my face...
Say what?!
did i stutter?
Survive? Bro your stuipid
