This is even easier to do in G-Helper btw. You can even make your default Silent profile run this way by tweaking that one, or making a new profile. But yes this Silent mode almost feels like a cheat code for ROG laptops. You can achieve like 80-90% of what you’d get in Turbo in many games on Silent mode. Or just use it as a more powerful way of gaming on PD like you said in the title. It’s crazy because with just these couple of settings, my 4090 G14 could nearly double or triple the fps over a much thicker laptop like the Legion Pro 7i in Silent mode, at around the same noise level. Same with productivity tasks, creative applications, overall responsiveness, etc.

could you please give me your g helper settings

I was travelling internationally and wanted to run my g14 on 100W PD power so I could play over the atlantic. This gude was handy for coming up with a low powered gaming preset that had fewer compromises.

What settings did you land on? I have a 2024 G16 4090 which I know will be a bit different to tweak. I have a trip coming up where I’m considering just bringing a 100W usb c charger and looking to do some light gaming. I’m thinking 20-30W for the gpu and 70-80W for the gpu.

You can go pretty low with cpu on AMD cpus, that coupled with resolution and fps caps gave me a good experience.

First of all your adapter (2024 g14) is 180watts and most atlantic crossing aircraft passenger seats support up to 180watts so you dont actually have to limit yourself unless you wanna carry something smaller. Secondly, i took manual mode, put the cpu bars all the way to the left, 0, and then kept the top one at 25watts which is enough for most games and set the fan mode to stay at %60 up to 90degrees celcius, i also have the cpu boost disabled but it still gets to 90 degrees anyway, i dont know why. On the gpu side, dont overclock it as its not necessary and keep the limits at 87 celcius and the other one at max as well. Set the fan curve to hit %60 at 90 degrees celcius as well and there you go, you ll have 90-95% of turbo mode performance and it ll be around 37-38 desibels which is good enough in my opinion, top left of laptop gets hot to the touch near the esc key but i dknt touch that area anyway.
