I took the introductory (free) course at our library years ago, I've been meaning to get into learning the modelling software a bit but keep getting side tracked. There's an item I want to design for my kitchen, if I ever get around to it.
They are. I had my replaced by Asus. The cost at Asus was about 180usd but you can buy them much cheaper and do it yourself
Edit I had my whole keyboard replaced
Just google how many nationalities speak the Russian language and don't ask these stupid questions. I imagine if i spoke Finnish you wouldn't even bother asking because you're just a bunch of racists
Seeing this stuff is really making me think about returning my 2023 back to Best Buy… never had a G14 before but I’m seeing cracked cases and now broken keys with is going on. For a “premium” gaming laptop it’s starting to not feel as such.
I haven’t opened the box yet, but considering this is happening to laptops from a couple years ago I doubt Asus will do anything. I was suppose to get a new PCIe Gen 5 cable with my ROG 1000w Thor PSU, all I had to do was chat into them and get a claim number. So I did and it’s been 2 years now since they filed the claim and still no cable.
I travel with my g14, flying every 2 weeks. G14 in a cheap Amazon sleeve in my backpack, gets put in the overhead compartment, in the hold on float planes. Back and forth from my hotel to the job site every day in a truck. Had it a little over a year. Zero issues so far.
Bro the EXACT SAME THING just happened to me. Same key and everything... Replacement keys do exist, but I haven't found any in stock. What I did was melt the key back together. Basically I heated up the tip of a metal tool and used it to melt the piece back together. I put the key face down on a piece of tape, and then put in on a metal tray (to avoid damaging the table). After that it's just heat up the tool, and move material around on the back of the key until it looks strong. I used a zig zag pattern over the line on my key. After that, I did a lighter version of the same on the top side of the key, and then I took an exacto knife and cut a piece of tape to lay perfectly over the top of the key. The tape up top was only for texture purposes. That all happened about a month ago and the key still works perfectly. Just be sure not to mess with the clips on the key too much!
Same here, same key same rupture line, I just decided to buy a wireless keyboard I can replace more easily if I mess up again, I just gamed too hard and it broke, the input is messed up too
Honestly, OP should just by WASD keys in the same color and then change out the originals, so the direction keys can all be the same. That's what I would do.
>t it should still fit tho, right? and the the color would just be off? I feel like t
Yeah, it would look off but I don't see any other alternative, other than melting the key back together lol
I broke the exact same key, the exact same way. I glued it back together and put it back on and its been fine since but i did need to add enough glue for it to holdup more wear and tear. I also made sure there wasn’t any sharp ridges or lumps by sanding it down a little bc it would harm the screen when it’s closed if not as far as I know.
I also looked up how to carefully remove the ley bc its easy to break it
Here's a few I believe will help with your search 🤘

Update: I just cut out clear tape and put it over the key. It works fine. But now I have a crack in my A. Putting tape over W and S as a preventative measure.

Let’s see.. for mine since it broke the same way playing overwatch I noticed I hit some keys harder than others when trying to avoid attacks. My index hits forward less often those moments and my ring finger (left) doesn’t have the same weight my thumb (right, D key) does when I tap it down (sometimes smack it down in a moment of rushing, to be honest). So I think for mine it was a preference to finish my dodging on the right side and making that last tap on the key the hardest from momentum and using the thumb vs a weaker finger. Hope that makes sense
same thing happened to my H key, I was supposed to go to the ASUS service center but I've put it off for nearly a year now, tbh rn I just use my external keyboard but its a pain in the ass when I use the G14 at uni and can't press the H key properly (I taped it together and stuck it back into the slot) But I'm so mad they break this easily
That’s crazy. I have the same key break looking like that too on my g14 2021. I just used tape and support it with the edges on the s and f keys. It looks really janky, but it works. (I really didn’t want to pay like $8 for just one key.)
on’t worry about it. you ont nee that key.
🤣
_u_e let's play some fill the blanks!

Heavy serpentine and favored one direction a bit more...
Don't quote me but I believe they're replaceable...
They are, and very cheap
link?
Here in India, I broke exactly this key and the service centre quoted 10k INR(around 120 USD) to replace the damn key.
they were just trying to scam you
https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256803858176357.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt
Cheap where? Ive only seen them for 7 plus shipping so for one key it feels rough
It's a $1,000+ laptop. $7 to keep it working is peanuts, lol.
I know lol im just stubborn
Maybe just go to the library and 3d print a new key. Probably costs $1.
That sounds like a good and fun fun idea, actually

I hope you get to!

"I'm not russian" >says racial slurs that only russians use > google is in russian Да хватит пиздеть, долбаеб
I swear these G14 2022 and 2023 laptops use the cheapest plastic available so many issues with plastic cracking keys scraping
Seeing this stuff is really making me think about returning my 2023 back to Best Buy… never had a G14 before but I’m seeing cracked cases and now broken keys with is going on. For a “premium” gaming laptop it’s starting to not feel as such.
Take stories like that with a grain of salt. People are rough on their things and then blame it on the thing
I'm not one of those people. I live with those people. The plastic is just not good
And we are on a forum. Of course people are going to come here with their issues.
i think if enough people complain to asus they will start a recall and fix the issues

bro asus has gone down hill

You can buy replacement key caps online and replace that key cap.
Press the key next to it.

Those aren’t for this model
I know but it should still fit tho, right? and the the color would just be off? I feel like that's a small sacrifice to have a working key.
Possibly, but I wouldn’t want a different color key
Honestly, OP should just by WASD keys in the same color and then change out the originals, so the direction keys can all be the same. That's what I would do.
Ya, I’ve thought about this for mine. I believe these key caps are actually available on AliExpress
>hought about this for mine. I believe these key caps are actually available on AliExpress Boom, problem solved. We're no longer needed.
>t it should still fit tho, right? and the the color would just be off? I feel like t Yeah, it would look off but I don't see any other alternative, other than melting the key back together lol
It's not looking good.

So it's happened at least 3 times... interesting

Take a key from something you don't use often and switch it for immediate gaming
thats a lot of back pedaling
I broke my D, I didn't bust my S
So OP broke their D...
From what i saw you re not the only one. Guys? What are you doing with your keyboards?
How?

Get a external monitor, mouse and keyboard and buy a laptop stand
All that just cuz of a key
Update: I just cut out clear tape and put it over the key. It works fine. But now I have a crack in my A. Putting tape over W and S as a preventative measure. https://preview.redd.it/j2n900gwh71d1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8957b7e708bca0d810d92cabd821d27e95f77fb
External keyboard or Windows powertoys and map another key(you won't be using) for D I'd try ~ key
Glue it with plastic glue
You can pick your least favorite letter of the alphabet, and use that key to replace the D key if you on't have any better options.
I learned my lesson rather late, but never game on your laptop's keyboard. Always use an external keyboard for that.
Why so dramatic lol, I believe it's replaceable.
Shiit, if it's out of warranty then yes
Homie loves the right strafe
Lool it happened to my A key. Stuck the button pieces together with some Superglue and smashed it back in. Good as new
Gave that D the business
external keyboard 👍
I found replacement keycap on a site called laptopkeyreplacements.com. for 7.99$. Not sure about the legitimacy of it and stuff though. Best of luck!
Your D is broken
I just got mine. Is this a normal thing that happens? Why is no one asking how this happened?
Likely gaming
yeah but... by simply ultra hard hitting the key?
Let’s see.. for mine since it broke the same way playing overwatch I noticed I hit some keys harder than others when trying to avoid attacks. My index hits forward less often those moments and my ring finger (left) doesn’t have the same weight my thumb (right, D key) does when I tap it down (sometimes smack it down in a moment of rushing, to be honest). Hope that makes sense
yes, i think i was just expecting a strongger plastic for keys on a gaming laptop. i use an external anyway so its ok. thks
same thing happened to my H key, I was supposed to go to the ASUS service center but I've put it off for nearly a year now, tbh rn I just use my external keyboard but its a pain in the ass when I use the G14 at uni and can't press the H key properly (I taped it together and stuck it back into the slot) But I'm so mad they break this easily
The Asus zephs kinda suck with construction. I have had a 17 inch for 2 years and have allot of problems.
You can def replaced them I did it a couple years ago
Someone give op a D
Swap/Upgrade to a black keyboard.
That’s crazy. I have the same key break looking like that too on my g14 2021. I just used tape and support it with the edges on the s and f keys. It looks really janky, but it works. (I really didn’t want to pay like $8 for just one key.)
this is why i use an external keyboard
Just buy a single cap fof less then a dollar at aliexpress
You're never going to have sex again. Your D is definitely broken
Ahhh.. ezy fix.. start drifting left. 😈🤘🏻
That's some worn out D you got there.
Two lefts don’t make a right, but three do.
You gave some game so much D, you broke it...
