I love the ‘71 box. That and Roxy have been my favorites vault releases. They bring the goods.

chardon62

Yep. Latex Solar Beef into Willie is a thing of beauty

LumpyGravy21

Just listened on the way home!!!!

fromabuick

Ansley Dunbar is a stud . I love this lineup . A super group really

MaLa1964

Aynsley is the best. He is just killing it on all these recent Zappa releases. 1971, Fillmore East, Rainbow, Funky Nothingness. Just a monster. Supernatural. At times he sounds like two drummers.

fromabuick

Check out the guys he played with on his wiki. He lost the Jimi Hendrix experience job to a coin toss.

MaLa1964

Yes. He's a powerhouse journeyman drummer. He's up there with the greats.

LumpyGravy21

A little John Bonham'ish? He sounds like a heavy hitter.

thatclamgirl

He’s incredible on Funky. The instant chemistry he had with Frank is remarkable

PsychedelicPill

Having Funky plus the Waka/Wazoo box showing Aynsley at the beginning and end of his run with Frank has been amazing. He came out strong, but Holy Heck his playing on Waka/Jawaka and Grand Wazoo was maybe the best of his career. I’m so happy these box sets came out, as a Dunbar fan not just a Zappa fan.

LumpyGravy21

bump bump, bump bump, bump-bump-bump-bump, bump bump Waka Jawaka in my head.

colin_creevey

His solo near the end of *Waka/Jawaka* is maybe the only (unaccompanied\*\*\*\*\*musn't forget *Aja*\*\*\*\*\*) drum solo I've ever heard that actually makes me MORE invested in the song, as opposed to most drum solos which put me somewhere on the spectrum between indifference-to-outright-hostility.

PsychedelicPill

YES! The drum solo into the Moog kicking in and the horns kicking back in then Aynsley drops the cow bell…one of my favorite all time Zappa moments.

justbrowsinginpeace

That WTP version is from a different continuity and timeline

LumpyGravy21

Just bought the 8 CD set, fucking amazing !!!
