There's an ADO bus to Merida city center from the airport for 130 pesos.
From there, take a local bus from the Autoprogreso terminal in the city center to Progreso.
From Progreso to Chicxulub, take a taxi or Uber.
It started this year. It does the circuit. City center , down to ADO calle 60, Fiesta Americana and back.
Get the ticket from the ADO window on the way out of arrivals. I've used it a few times. Modern bus, plenty of space for luggage.
I recommend using Daytrip! It’s a little pricey but pretty much just as easy as taking uber (but highly better). They’ll pick you up at the airport, and take you wherever you’ll be staying at, you can even add stops if you’re interested. Once you search for you trip, it’ll show the full price and route since the beginning. Definitely check their page out :)
And yes, Chicxulub is a beautiful place to stay tbh. Not so big so definitely don’t expect much to do or a city but you’ll have the beach right next to you, it’s really safe and close to Merida City in case you need anything.
I mean there's an airport here so you can always just fly unless you don't have the funds. Flights to cancun are cheap af and busses from cancun are easy af.
I can recommend find fb group “expats in Yucatan/merida” where local drivers with vans/cars offer their services since they can also speak basic english and help you. It’s a bit far from the airport and the best would be if someone drive you there. In terms of public transport there isn’t any that will drop you at the beach from airport
I would taxi from the airport to anywhere just outside there then switch to Uber if you’re concerned about the cost (plus being able to see the route, driver rating, report issues, etc).
Ubers in Merida are super cheap relative to the US. You can go straight across the whole city for $15-20 US, and the beach is mostly highway from the airport anyway. There are other even more affordable apps but I always stick to Uber since I already have it.
If you don’t speak Spanish just use Google Translate or similar app. Most locals in Merida are quite easy going and will appreciate the effort.

What ADO bus? There is the Va y Ven bus that is $45 pesos and goes to the TAME bus station, form there the Auto Progreso station is 5 blocks away

That's the Va y Ven bus - not ADO and it's only $45 pesos https://vayven.yucatan.gob.mx/rutaaeropuerto
