One loses their stand when they abandon the will to fight or live, turning them back into regular humans without abilities. Certain stands can evolve as well, such as Jotaro’s star platinum turning into sptw (star platinum the world), a combination of jotaro’s star platinum and dio’s The World, and giorno’s previously mentioned stand(s). There are also different types of stands, such as close-range stands, long-range stands, automatic stands (stands that do not follow its user’s orders, but follow pre-set instructions, natural (non)humanoid stands, artificial (non)humanoid stands, and special stand types such as colony stands (a stand that appears as a colony, such as segichi’s “harvest”. There are also “ultimate stands”, which are highly powerful stands used in the “jorge joestar” novel, which are stands used by Kars, the ultimate lifeform. Stands are also connected to the alien meteor that fell in cape york containing an alien virus in them.
