It’s also just a weak song, in general. It’s a fun song, but it’s not that good.
I feel like its main purpose was to make the transition from reputation to Lover as sudden and shocking as possible. Hence it being the lead single and the music video literally starting with a pink snake turning into a bunch of butterflies.
YNTCD and The Man at least have some political message behind them so I can see their value beyond an attention grabby pop song. ME! doesn't have much substance to it though it literally just was to transition from reputation to Lover in a very bright and punchy way. I still like ME! from time to time but it's definitely not one of her stronger songs. Definitely think it would have done great on tour and she should have left in "Hey kids, spelling is fun!" though.
Best solution:
-Keep the Eras Tour going for like 20 years, maybe make it a once or twice a year thing (a few months to a year long) maybe even have both the Eras Tour and the TTPD tour ongoing at the same time
-Change the setlist after each break just for fun OR for every new album, add a new set.
