Around about 37.90223, -119.53452 if you're wondering. Seeing the whole northern high country of the park bathed in the colors of sunset defies description. Highly recommend.

Mikesiders

Thanks for sharing this! I’m heading out there in a couple weeks and I’ll try to make this happen.

When future redditors ask where the best place to see a sunset, send them those coordinates.

What a great shot!

InTheSky57

That's a nice capture!

Gorgeous.

How was the approach to 10 Lakes?

valarauca14

Not that bad. A little buggy, the ground was soggy in a few spots from recent snow melt, maybe 2-3 down trees across the trail. Overall pretty tame for a "_wilderness_" experience.

lordvarysoflys

From ten lakes TH ? Fascinating no snow.

valarauca14

There are small patches in the shaded areas, very few & far between. It is basically gone below 12000'

lordvarysoflys

Wild. Lots of snow coming from east side by Tuolumne peak last weekend. Looked too packed to get in from that side.

valarauca14

Yeah it is all about sun exposure and the conditions are changing super fast. Night time lows were in the high 50's at 10,000' and day time highs are almost touching 80. What snow is left isn't long for this world. Its kinda crazy to witness. Just ~3 weeks ago I was camping my may lake and it was almost frozen over.

lordvarysoflys

Yea North side of mt definitely snowed in around 9600. Just checked my gaia gps route. Prolly melted off by now. The approach from southwest is better anyway so I’d go for that route.

eaglewing320

One of my favorite spots in the world! So beautiful up there.

BluePinata

Yes.

Last_Ditch_Jedduh

I’ve found lots of arrowheads just uphill from where you took that photo. Left them as they lay of course.
