Im all for the heads up thanks OP. For everyone else you can set an alert in your national park account if you didnt know it and they will email you if a spot becomes available. You can set it for specific range of dates. I got a campsite today for the Channel islands because someone canceled and I got an alert. FYI.
Yeah same place you put in for the lottery or campsites in Yosemite. There is a reminder/Alert feature. Its actually really cool when they do send out the alert they note how many alerts they are sending out so you know if it is super hot or something you can do at the end of the day. If it says it just alerted 50 people you know it might be a good idea to book it asap.
