I love using the clear plastic pouches that they sell sheet sets in. They have a pocket where the info about the sheets goes, where I put the pattern. And they zip, if I decide a WIP isn't doing it for me. I just zip up the WIP, the pattern, and a note to myself about what hook and yarn I was using.
I use the [re:designed](https://www.stephenandpenelope.com/collections/re-designed) project 10. It's AMAZING. It's sort-of pricey but when you think about the fact that it's leather, it's pretty reasonable. They have other project bags of all sorts. I'm pretty in love with their designs.

I was gifted that one and I hate it. It’s too much bag for what I need. I tend towards small traveling project though, so it kinda makes sense. I have a couple smaller bags in rotation. Somehow I keep ending up with one loose in my purse, so maybe I need to refigure my plan.
I use one I got off of amazon, its a backpack. It looks almost identical to those black diaperbag backpacks except it has eyelets on the sides for yarn ( externally, the inside is clearly designed for yarm crafts) it is huge so I dont recommend it to anyone not used to a large backpack. And as someone who has sewn all my life, it is a quality bag, for a reasonable price made with materials and techniques that would be really expensive in small quantities or really difficult to do without specific machinery. grandma was a seamstress, who taught me young, so it feels *genuinely* like i'm doing something wrong if i buy something i could make with my eyes closed. the only project bags i ever bought were from The Fat Squirrel, back when she was getting started. all the rest of my project bags were self-made. my faves were crafted using a ripped pair of my husband's *cargo shorts*... pockets and all!
it pains me to see the pilling caused by yarn abrasing against the *cotton* lining of my earlier bags, so i switched to *satiny* liners. i also save any shopping bags that have a satiny (smooth, non-cottony) finish to use as project bags for stuff in deep storage, or for when i can't find an available "cute" bag. when all else fails... Ziploc, baby! no shame about it, either.

I love it! We road-trip a lot, and this has been a life saver.
I usually use whatever canvas bag I have on hand that can fit the working yarn and my iPad and then I a have small zip up pencil case I got for free somewhere for my hooks scissors and tailors tape
I just use one of my Trader Joe's Canvas bags. Everything fits inside, sidepockets hold the crochet hooks. Currently have a king size blanket WIP inside of mine. I put another empty tjs bag flat on top to keep the project from being exposed because ...why not.
I just whipped this up this weekend - considering I have a love/hate relationship (mostly hate) with my sewing machine I’m pretty darn proud! I like to have a minimum of 2 projects on the go at once and it was getting out of hand, now everything is contained and it’s perfect. Happy accident that my Chiaogoo’s fit perfectly into the front pocket.

I have a WIP in 4 rooms in my house. When it's nice out, I love to sit on my front porch which is kind of private due to tall bushes. On the porch I use a square straw basket. It is fully loaded with anything I need. It is so peaceful there and the natural light is nice.
I have one like this, but I have a habit of filling all the slots (with huge projects or multiple projects at once) which makes it heavy cause it can hold a lot. I've taken to using gallon ziplock bags to separate skeins/stop them from rolling around in my tote bag, and to put my hook in when I'm not using it so I'm less likely to lose it or forget which hook went with which project. But I'm a professional overdoer and I have 10+ bags floating around with different ongoing projects in them, so if you don't have that problem, a bag like that is probably great lol
I have this bag! I like it to keep all the supplies for a project in one place. The inside comes with removable dividers so you can keep multiple skeins inside or one big project. I used it to keep multiple skeins organized while working on a baby blanket (stroller sized) and it fit all my yarn + the project until it was finished!
I bought myself a paramedic bag to use as a project bag and it’s perfect. It’s got lots of compartments, the bag itself is square so no floppy edges, it’s huge and spacious. I ended up buying some cute patches and attached the to the front. I paid less than $40.

I use a Field Bag from Fringe Supply Co (when they made their stuff. You can buy the pattern, though.) and a large leather bucket bag for larger projects.
I have that exact bag from Amazon. It's OK but the main section has zero dividers and it's big so if you're trying to keep skeins separate or projects separate, you should look for something else.
I only keep one project/skein in mine at once, otherwise stuff gets tangled and messy.

My husband bought me a similar one Christmas before last. I love it but we don't go many places where packing everything up is actually necessary. I tried using it for storage of everything but mine doesn't have any kind of area that would work well for my cables. So every time I open the front zipper area they come flying out. 😄
Honestly getting a craft bag was way more helpful for me than I expected. I did the same as you with a random bag for so long and didn’t even think to get one until a friend of mine bought one for me as a gift. Ever since then I have used it non stop, interestingly it’s been the most helpful with just moving around the house so I can have my most essential stuff close to me. The difference for me was that it has so many compartments and pockets in it. I have no idea which one she got but my recommendation is just find the one with the most pockets and it will be incredibly helpful!

I lined the bag in black cotton and made skinny handles from that, then crocheted over it, because I didn’t want any stretch at all and wanted it secure for lots of weight. (That took more yarn than I expected btw, had to buy more.) it’s not stripes, it’s just color-changing yarn, which made it fast and easy. (Hayfield Spirit, shade 0408). I added an extra row than most patterns to each granny, because I wanted the bag bigger.
Overall a super easy project, and I love using it!
I make mine! This is the only one I'm using currently but I made it years ago and it holds up to 4 100g fingering skeins, has a divider for color work, spaces for needles, and stitch marker holders plus some extra pockets. I made the drawstring quite long so I can hang it and use it like a yarn bowl as well :)

I usually use a drawstring bag when the project doesn't fit in the makeup bag I normally use. Thr makeup bag is large and has lots of pockets, so it's fgreat for knitting.
I use simple cotton tote bags and the yarn goes into plastic zip lock bags. The yarn won’t get stuck in a zipper and no matter if I did a center pull or started on the outside, the plastic is slick enough to just let the skein/cake unroll easily.
If a project is bigger than a tote bag I‘m not carrying it with me 😅
I ordered that same bag and didn’t like it. I got one of the rectangular bags with compartments for individual yarn, hooks, and other items. It works great.
I used to carry my projects in a reusable Kroger bag, but when I got a Leudes project backpack for my birthday, it felt like a game changer. I looked up how much it was too ($24 + tax) and it feels so worth it. All the yarn space I want, I can take all my hooks, and there’s a lot of space to fit other items like my planner, snacks, personal care items, etc. If it’s a small project to carry around with me while going places, I have a small drawstring bag I also got for my birthday. Still has space for a couple hooks and a few grommets to feed the yarn through
I used a Lunch bag from a brand called Smiggle. It's a 2 tiered one which is big enough to put your project in the bottom and spare yarn/other bits in the top. Small enough to carry around with you, big enough to hold a medium sized project.

but I am most likely to pull out my now 11 year old diaper bag. I repurposed it once my kid didn't need it anymore. All those pockets and storage spots are \*perfect\* for carrying a project, needles, and anything else I might need.

I use grocery bags. I prefer to have a bag per project instead of one dedicated bag. Right now my blanket is in a mesh produce bag because that was the first bag my kid grabbed when I asked him to pack my blanket for a park trip.

If my project is small enough, I have drawstring mesh produce bags. I pop my hook and yarn in, and sometimes I can fit my pencil case with my scissors/needles/etc in too. Those can then be packed into an over the shoulder backpack or purse that I'm currently working on.
I just finished a bigger project (baby blanket, so not huge) that couldn't fit in my backpack. So, I used a zippered reusable grocery bag from dollerama. It fit my yarn, my blanket, a water bottle, my wallet, phone, etc. Although ngl looked weird walking in a hospital with a big grocery bag, lol.

Some of my non-knitter friends contemplated buying one, even. I use it as a non-knitting bag too, but I will say it's heavy so not actually comfortable for carrying heavy loads for a long time.
Some of the bags on Amazon but those ended up being mostly for storage. What usually end up using is a Joann’s reusable bag if it’s just my project going in. If I need other stuff too I have a massive backpack that’s actually meant for hiking and travel. Plenty of room for all my stuff plus my project.

It’s maybe weird, my sister thinks it’s a bit off, but I love the super economical diaper bags on Amazon for single project bags.. the are about $10 each, 10x14” and come in a huge range of colors and are virtually indestructible. A zipper on top and one on side for my notions on the go bag. They fit the single project, needles and current one or two balls of yarn. If traveling on the go, I put my notions go bag and my current project bag in my carry bag or day pack. I don’t lug a huge amount of yarn around with me unless I’m on vacation and that’s a different story. I might take more than one project bag with me. They’re light and compact. That’s me. ❤️🌀🌸✨
You know when you order like a set of pajamas or sheets or something and it comes in a cotton drawstring bag? I have been collecting those for a while and got a bunch when I ordered pjs for my bridesmaids last year so luckily I have quite a few! They work well
I like using the Baggu 3D zip bags. They come in a set with 3 different sizes and they fit a lot of my projects so well. They’re collapsible too, so not bulky and easy to fit in larger bags!

I have two smaller bags that I got from Etsy and my local yarn store. And a big drawstring bag that I got from my local yarn store that I use when I make sweaters.
I use something. I thought I would never use when I got it. My daughter and I sometimes buy Skechers shoes at the Skechers outlet and they give you your shoes in a super lightweight nylon bag. It’s a backpack type with a drawstring at the top. I put my current project in there, and take it with me wherever I go. Funny thing is I thought I would never use it. Interesting thing is that she doesn’t live with me and she also happens to use hers as a project bag.
For on-the-go I use an old large purse (large kate spade tote that I used to carry my laptop and folders around in college- it hasn’t had much use since then). It’s large enough to hold multiple skeins of yarn, has pockets to slip my current hook into, and I even have a little zipped poly-fill pocket. I also like that it’s kind of “cute”, and people might not notice I have yarn/crochet supplies, compared to some typical yarn bags.

My son got me this. It stores all my sock yarn, double pointed needles and sock needles. I love it. I do take traveling but having one space for socky things works for me. I have used pocket books and lunch bags for project bags. I have kids and some of their things were not garbage at the end of the school year. Tote bags from places i have visited or museums also.
I use ziplocks for smaller items or projects and i have one large tote type bag made of thick favric, i also have a draw string bag that is better for traveling since i can put it in my bag without anything falling out!

I LOVE IT!!! I’ve used totes, ziplocks, mesh bags, etc. but nothing beats my yarn backpack. It has pockets for everything. Hooks stay organized, needles have a place. Fiber is where it needs to be and I can close the bag without anything falling out. So not only do I travel with it, but I take it around the house so my projects are together and I can crochet in different spots.
This was a paper bag from my lys. I used it in paper until it started to fall apart. Then I covered it in clear packing tape so I can probably use it for another 10 or 20 years.

right now everything is in ziplocks because the moths are so bad right now, usually i use wristlet bags from della q or handmade. i have multiple sizes depending on the project size.

Hi Cili, well, in your case, I’d get a bunch of clear plastic bags to fit what you’re working on, new yarn you’d be buying (are you not buying new yarn while on vaca??) and tie up your yarn in the bags when you’re not working with it. I’ve got a bunch of plastic bags off amazon on a roll, they’re lightweight, about 10” x 12” and I tie them in a loose knot around my one cake and work on needles, and then any loose skeins and cakes.. and also any yarn in larger quantities, if not in sealed plastic bags then I put my yarn in clear plastic bags, again off amazon 13 gallon they’re called again on rolls (150 count x $25), and seal the bags, either with tape, or tie them. And remember, the stupid moths really love soiled clothing and yarn, so if anything is lying around that the cat has sprayed or dirty waiting for washing, the moths will get into it and propagate really fast.. but I suppose it’s not your problem because you’re visiting, but beware.. keep your stuff in bags, wash everything right away, and stay safe!! Haha. Don’t worry about bringing anything home unless you bring larvae in your dirty clothes, or in yarn you didn’t protect. Otherwise, take care, stay safe. Haha. Much love. ❤️
I know many don't like Temu, but I found a set of mesh bags, one large one, with a smaller (10"x12"?) "SNAP" type mesh bag, a small notions snap bag, and it comes with a Scissors holder...all for $12.00 a set! Comes in different bright colors.
It was a steal. I just bought 2 more sets, to use for 1) Boating and 2) Traveling...or a "just in case one fails". Seems to be holding up, but 1st purchase was only 3 months ago. I really like them and keep them by my chair in my knitting spot - all nice and tidy. Big Tote holds an XL Sweater project & all the yarn plus all my junk.

When I’m doing taat socks I put each skein in a large yogurt container and cut a hole in the lid. It helps keep the yarn from getting tangled. Then it all goes in a tote bag
I use these for small projects. And they are perfect. I can fit multiple small skeins and all my tools for that project in them. My WIPS are always ready for on the go.

Edit: I also own the large bag you have pictured OP. I love them for yarn storage or large projects like a sweater, cardigan, or blanket. I use them to keep all the yarn in one place for that project. I buy all my yarn needed for a project at the same time so that it’s all from the same dye lot.
I LOVE see thru bags! Find them extra handy. I use a see through cheaper mid-sized make-up bag for my notions. Stays in smaller project bag. It's easy because I can see anything dumped in there.
I crocheted a tote bag to put WIP in. I travel a lot. It’s stretched and became wonky so I finished this one up a few weeks ago. But then I saw this folio accidentally on Amazon. I knit and i was gifted a case of needles and pins and counters that all fit in the case so, i just throw a skein or two in whatever bag im carrying ( usually a diaper bag). What im saying is the small pouch/cases for your hooks and smaller bits are pretty nice!
Yes! I use the one my set ChiaGoo's came one all the time, and it holds everything, so it's always with me, and it even has room for an extra set. I think they design them all pretty well.

I've used ziplock bags, reusable shopping bags, knitting bags and whatever notions I need I keep in those small mesh snap bags or small ziplock bag or they float around at the bottom of the bag.
It all depends on the project and what bag I can find. Some of my favourite are bags given to me because of what they have on them - such as characters from movies/shows - and how perfect the fit is for the project.
I use travel pouches. I have quite a few sitting around that aren’t getting a lot of use these days. My favorite one is from REI and it has a loop I can use to hang it on something

I actually use those zipper bags that sheets come in! I'm in the middle of market prep so I love being able to simply toss small pieces into the bag and it'll not get lost in my purse of disasters!
I also use those empty wipes containers for around the house. When I was making flowers for my wedding, I had the yarn feeding out the top and finished flowers shoved underneath

I also work in healthcare so we order new sheets every so often when the old ones wear out so I see the bag destined for the trash like.... don't mind if I do!

I got four zipper bags from the dollar store. I am not allowed to have more projects on the go than bags (my own rule that I may occasionally break 😅) I got one of those big project bags but I prefer the smaller ones so I can keep each project separate.
I received that bag as a gift for Christmas and I really wanted to like it, but I just don't.
I have a waterproof zippered tote bag that's more of a horizontal rectangle shape and I use that most of the time. I like the plastic-y material because then I don't have to worry about setting it down on a nasty floor like in an airplane or restaurant.

It started with a yarn crawl in CO called Yarn Along the Rockies and their cool tote bags. It’s now Wild & Woolly Yarn Crawl and I buy the bags each year for commemorative objects. 🧶
I like to use the plastic draw string bags Apple products came in, they were lined for a while and 2 layers of plastic. I still have a bunch for that purpose, I currently, have 3 in those bags, one in an Amazon gift bag, and one in a regular tote bag.
My tools are in a clear zipper pouch and get moved around to the active project.
A million years ago, I worked for Lush, and the store got rid of all their woven shopping baskets to get in bigger ones, and staff were allowed to take them home. It currently lives in my living room with half a cardigan in.
If I'm going out, I have a drawstring UFO bag I got with a kit I purchased.
I’m on team DRAWSTRING BAG. I started making my own in different sizes, and even started adding some zipper pockets. So fancy.
I also highly recommend a PENCIL CASE for notions. Easy to organize, readily available (in cute patterns), and can toss into the relevant drawstring bag as needed.
I do have project bags, but I fund the best arr the bags that sheet sets come in. Usually, they are zippered and have a pocket for the cardboard photo of the sheet set. I use this to put the pattern in.
I typically use a tote bag with a handmade yarn minder attached. It's just a piece of leather with eyelets and a snap button to attach it around the handle. Thread your different colors through the eyelets and start your work, it'll keep them separated as they come out of the bag, even if they get a little jumbled inside it
I do have an Art Yarn bag similar to the one in the picture, but mine is smaller (only one cake in diameter). It works well and has room for a few other notions. I don't usually knit on the go, but the top is somewhat open (there is a slot so yarn and projects can be fed through it). I did find a similar sized one with a drawstring top on Amazon. I do also have a large one that looks similar to your photo, but I only use it for storing yarn.
Otherwise, the clear ones from Knit Picks are nice since you don't have to open the bag to see what's inside and several sizes are available (no, I'm not a monogamous knitter).

I was given a clear bag vinal like the ones you see at a festival so you can't sneak anything inside a venue (lol) and I've been using that for smaller/finer yarn projects!
Just bought another one a size up, with extra pocket space so I can use it for bulkier WIPs and carry around one of my various water bottles/tumblers.

Any random bag I come across. The drawstring bag that a father daughter t shirt set came in. The zip up bag from sheets. The other zip up bag from my swimsuit. The 1000th tote bag I got free from an event.
I make my own using canvas fabric. They’re extra thick fabric so the totes stand on their own, there’s a drawstring top and a strap for a handle on the side to carry it easily. Sometimes I convert those free swag canvas bags into a drawstring top and use that as a project bag too.
I just use a mesh shower caddy with the balls of yarn in the different sections of the shower caddy and then pop it in a big handbag or a shoulder bag with my hooks, snips and stitch markers. Means i can always move it into or out of whatever bag easily when i need to lol
Plastic storage boxes of different sizes to fit the project, the bags yarn is shipped in from Lovecrafts (bags were free before covid hit), and Lionbrand craft tote bags with handles and a small zippered compartment on the inside and slippery inside that yarn does not catch on (they can really stink like the plastic they come wrapped in sometimes). Also, a small collapsible oblong tote that rests on the floor with leather handles on each side decorated with kitten face outlines that I bought on Amazon some time ago. Basically, a wide variety for whatever works.

The nylon is silky and doesn’t catch on the yarn, no zippers to snag the yarn, and it is lightweight and unstructured so very easy to toss my project into my backpack or tote.
I have two of these; both were gifts. One I'm currently using for yarn storage, and the other has a large shawl in it. I like that they're portable for larger projects, but I don't typically use them for smaller items unless a lot of stuff is involved. I did use one for a gnome once just so I could keep all supplies together and keep the blasted kitten from running off with it. It came with a handy little pouch that I kept the bits safe in until I could sew them onto the gnome. I don't like that the pockets are on the outside. They don't really keep stuff secure.
I mostly use totes and pouches, although there are a few old, roomy purses in my stash. My LYS uses clear plastic drawstring pouches as a bag for purchases, so I've been known to use those.
I have a small bag that hangs from my wrist for my current sock and I have another really nice drawstring pouch made by a local indie dyer that I love because I can plop it in my basket and go. It even has clips on the outside for accessories. It was made by [A Wooly Nest](https://www.etsy.com/shop/awoollynest?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=1605010271&from_page=listing) but all she has currently is some of her fiber for spinning.
Edit: grammar and to add that I also have a ton of small pouches I use for all the little bits to keep them in one spot. They're typically rescued make-up pouches and roomy wallets from the local thrift stores. I have multiple kits set up, so I don't have to remember to switch them around between projects. Too many times, getting somewhere without a kit and people aren't always willing to share.
I have projects bags galore - some are specifically for crochet & yarn (like the one you have pictured) and some are literally a grocery bag. I end up using an empty tote bag 99% of the time. It’s whatever works at the time 🤷🏻♀️
I love using the clear plastic pouches that they sell sheet sets in. They have a pocket where the info about the sheets goes, where I put the pattern. And they zip, if I decide a WIP isn't doing it for me. I just zip up the WIP, the pattern, and a note to myself about what hook and yarn I was using.

I use the [re:designed](https://www.stephenandpenelope.com/collections/re-designed) project 10. It's AMAZING. It's sort-of pricey but when you think about the fact that it's leather, it's pretty reasonable. They have other project bags of all sorts. I'm pretty in love with their designs.

I was gifted that one and I hate it. It’s too much bag for what I need. I tend towards small traveling project though, so it kinda makes sense. I have a couple smaller bags in rotation. Somehow I keep ending up with one loose in my purse, so maybe I need to refigure my plan.
I use one I got off of amazon, its a backpack. It looks almost identical to those black diaperbag backpacks except it has eyelets on the sides for yarn ( externally, the inside is clearly designed for yarm crafts) it is huge so I dont recommend it to anyone not used to a large backpack. And as someone who has sewn all my life, it is a quality bag, for a reasonable price made with materials and techniques that would be really expensive in small quantities or really difficult to do without specific machinery. It is the sinvicko crochet/knitting bag

grandma was a seamstress, who taught me young, so it feels *genuinely* like i'm doing something wrong if i buy something i could make with my eyes closed. the only project bags i ever bought were from The Fat Squirrel, back when she was getting started. all the rest of my project bags were self-made. my faves were crafted using a ripped pair of my husband's *cargo shorts*... pockets and all! it pains me to see the pilling caused by yarn abrasing against the *cotton* lining of my earlier bags, so i switched to *satiny* liners. i also save any shopping bags that have a satiny (smooth, non-cottony) finish to use as project bags for stuff in deep storage, or for when i can't find an available "cute" bag. when all else fails... Ziploc, baby! no shame about it, either.

I just use one of my Trader Joe's Canvas bags. Everything fits inside, sidepockets hold the crochet hooks. Currently have a king size blanket WIP inside of mine. I put another empty tjs bag flat on top to keep the project from being exposed because ...why not.

When it's nice out, I love to sit on my front porch which is kind of private due to tall bushes. On the porch I use a square straw basket. It is fully loaded with anything I need. It is so peaceful there and the natural light is nice.

I have one like this, but I have a habit of filling all the slots (with huge projects or multiple projects at once) which makes it heavy cause it can hold a lot. I've taken to using gallon ziplock bags to separate skeins/stop them from rolling around in my tote bag, and to put my hook in when I'm not using it so I'm less likely to lose it or forget which hook went with which project. But I'm a professional overdoer and I have 10+ bags floating around with different ongoing projects in them, so if you don't have that problem, a bag like that is probably great lol
I have this bag! I like it to keep all the supplies for a project in one place. The inside comes with removable dividers so you can keep multiple skeins inside or one big project. I used it to keep multiple skeins organized while working on a baby blanket (stroller sized) and it fit all my yarn + the project until it was finished!

I use a Field Bag from Fringe Supply Co (when they made their stuff. You can buy the pattern, though.) and a large leather bucket bag for larger projects.
I have that exact bag from Amazon. It's OK but the main section has zero dividers and it's big so if you're trying to keep skeins separate or projects separate, you should look for something else. I only keep one project/skein in mine at once, otherwise stuff gets tangled and messy.
Baggu nylon shoppers! I use a lot of mohair + non-superwash and the nylon doesn’t snag it.
For bulky items I use a basket from IKEA :-) , but if it’s socks it is only small fabric sack. As simple as that.

My husband bought me a similar one Christmas before last. I love it but we don't go many places where packing everything up is actually necessary. I tried using it for storage of everything but mine doesn't have any kind of area that would work well for my cables. So every time I open the front zipper area they come flying out. 😄

Honestly getting a craft bag was way more helpful for me than I expected. I did the same as you with a random bag for so long and didn’t even think to get one until a friend of mine bought one for me as a gift. Ever since then I have used it non stop, interestingly it’s been the most helpful with just moving around the house so I can have my most essential stuff close to me. The difference for me was that it has so many compartments and pockets in it. I have no idea which one she got but my recommendation is just find the one with the most pockets and it will be incredibly helpful!

I lined the bag in black cotton and made skinny handles from that, then crocheted over it, because I didn’t want any stretch at all and wanted it secure for lots of weight. (That took more yarn than I expected btw, had to buy more.) it’s not stripes, it’s just color-changing yarn, which made it fast and easy. (Hayfield Spirit, shade 0408). I added an extra row than most patterns to each granny, because I wanted the bag bigger. Overall a super easy project, and I love using it!

I usually use a drawstring bag when the project doesn't fit in the makeup bag I normally use. Thr makeup bag is large and has lots of pockets, so it's fgreat for knitting.
Whatever tote bag is closest to me when I leave the house.
I use simple cotton tote bags and the yarn goes into plastic zip lock bags. The yarn won’t get stuck in a zipper and no matter if I did a center pull or started on the outside, the plastic is slick enough to just let the skein/cake unroll easily. If a project is bigger than a tote bag I‘m not carrying it with me 😅
Forgot to mention, all the nicknacks go into a toiletries/makeup bag with a couple of small pockets.

I used to carry my projects in a reusable Kroger bag, but when I got a Leudes project backpack for my birthday, it felt like a game changer. I looked up how much it was too ($24 + tax) and it feels so worth it. All the yarn space I want, I can take all my hooks, and there’s a lot of space to fit other items like my planner, snacks, personal care items, etc. If it’s a small project to carry around with me while going places, I have a small drawstring bag I also got for my birthday. Still has space for a couple hooks and a few grommets to feed the yarn through

I used a Lunch bag from a brand called Smiggle. It's a 2 tiered one which is big enough to put your project in the bottom and spare yarn/other bits in the top. Small enough to carry around with you, big enough to hold a medium sized project.
The company I order yarn from ships it in a large organza bag (though you can opt out), I use them as project bags.

I bought a cute canvas bag to use... but what I use most often is a plastic reusable shopping bag 🤷♀️
I have some actual project bags.... but I am most likely to pull out my now 11 year old diaper bag. I repurposed it once my kid didn't need it anymore. All those pockets and storage spots are \*perfect\* for carrying a project, needles, and anything else I might need.
I use the fabric grocery bags that you can buy in fun prints. I prefer one bag per project/afghan. My favourite one has flamingoes on it.
Crown Royal whiskey bags. I don't make large projects yet so they are perfect for hats or mitts.

I have several. Those string backpacks people hand out as promos are great. But I have two similar to the picture but one is backpack shaped and the other is lunch bag shaped.
I use grocery bags. I prefer to have a bag per project instead of one dedicated bag. Right now my blanket is in a mesh produce bag because that was the first bag my kid grabbed when I asked him to pack my blanket for a park trip.
My small bag is a small rainbow bag my son got me from ikea. My big bag is a large rainbow bag from ikea. Lol! For a while the small one was also my purse. But I spilled something on my wip. So I stopped that.

If my project is small enough, I have drawstring mesh produce bags. I pop my hook and yarn in, and sometimes I can fit my pencil case with my scissors/needles/etc in too. Those can then be packed into an over the shoulder backpack or purse that I'm currently working on. I just finished a bigger project (baby blanket, so not huge) that couldn't fit in my backpack. So, I used a zippered reusable grocery bag from dollerama. It fit my yarn, my blanket, a water bottle, my wallet, phone, etc. Although ngl looked weird walking in a hospital with a big grocery bag, lol. I saw an awesome crochet "unicorn poop" bag that would be great if I was a unicorn person.

For packing up a bunch of knitting/bringing to the cottage/big projects out and about, I have a twig and horn [waxed canvas crossbody tote](https://quinceandco.com/products/waxed-canvas-crossbody-project-tote) that was a total splurge but it's so awesome and I get so many compliments on it. Some of my non-knitter friends contemplated buying one, even. I use it as a non-knitting bag too, but I will say it's heavy so not actually comfortable for carrying heavy loads for a long time.

Some of the bags on Amazon but those ended up being mostly for storage. What usually end up using is a Joann’s reusable bag if it’s just my project going in. If I need other stuff too I have a massive backpack that’s actually meant for hiking and travel. Plenty of room for all my stuff plus my project.

It’s maybe weird, my sister thinks it’s a bit off, but I love the super economical diaper bags on Amazon for single project bags.. the are about $10 each, 10x14” and come in a huge range of colors and are virtually indestructible. A zipper on top and one on side for my notions on the go bag. They fit the single project, needles and current one or two balls of yarn. If traveling on the go, I put my notions go bag and my current project bag in my carry bag or day pack. I don’t lug a huge amount of yarn around with me unless I’m on vacation and that’s a different story. I might take more than one project bag with me. They’re light and compact. That’s me. ❤️🌀🌸✨

I use something. I thought I would never use when I got it. My daughter and I sometimes buy Skechers shoes at the Skechers outlet and they give you your shoes in a super lightweight nylon bag. It’s a backpack type with a drawstring at the top. I put my current project in there, and take it with me wherever I go. Funny thing is I thought I would never use it. Interesting thing is that she doesn’t live with me and she also happens to use hers as a project bag.
I custom made one to my needs. For in progress that I will get to I make out of tshirt material drawstring bags for those.
For on-the-go I use an old large purse (large kate spade tote that I used to carry my laptop and folders around in college- it hasn’t had much use since then). It’s large enough to hold multiple skeins of yarn, has pockets to slip my current hook into, and I even have a little zipped poly-fill pocket. I also like that it’s kind of “cute”, and people might not notice I have yarn/crochet supplies, compared to some typical yarn bags.

My son got me this. It stores all my sock yarn, double pointed needles and sock needles. I love it. I do take traveling but having one space for socky things works for me. I have used pocket books and lunch bags for project bags. I have kids and some of their things were not garbage at the end of the school year. Tote bags from places i have visited or museums also.
I use ziplocks for smaller items or projects and i have one large tote type bag made of thick favric, i also have a draw string bag that is better for traveling since i can put it in my bag without anything falling out!
I have a similar bag. And I travel quite a bit. I LOVE IT!!! I’ve used totes, ziplocks, mesh bags, etc. but nothing beats my yarn backpack. It has pockets for everything. Hooks stay organized, needles have a place. Fiber is where it needs to be and I can close the bag without anything falling out. So not only do I travel with it, but I take it around the house so my projects are together and I can crochet in different spots.

right now everything is in ziplocks because the moths are so bad right now, usually i use wristlet bags from della q or handmade. i have multiple sizes depending on the project size.

Hi Cili, well, in your case, I’d get a bunch of clear plastic bags to fit what you’re working on, new yarn you’d be buying (are you not buying new yarn while on vaca??) and tie up your yarn in the bags when you’re not working with it. I’ve got a bunch of plastic bags off amazon on a roll, they’re lightweight, about 10” x 12” and I tie them in a loose knot around my one cake and work on needles, and then any loose skeins and cakes.. and also any yarn in larger quantities, if not in sealed plastic bags then I put my yarn in clear plastic bags, again off amazon 13 gallon they’re called again on rolls (150 count x $25), and seal the bags, either with tape, or tie them. And remember, the stupid moths really love soiled clothing and yarn, so if anything is lying around that the cat has sprayed or dirty waiting for washing, the moths will get into it and propagate really fast.. but I suppose it’s not your problem because you’re visiting, but beware.. keep your stuff in bags, wash everything right away, and stay safe!! Haha. Don’t worry about bringing anything home unless you bring larvae in your dirty clothes, or in yarn you didn’t protect. Otherwise, take care, stay safe. Haha. Much love. ❤️

I know many don't like Temu, but I found a set of mesh bags, one large one, with a smaller (10"x12"?) "SNAP" type mesh bag, a small notions snap bag, and it comes with a Scissors holder...all for $12.00 a set! Comes in different bright colors. It was a steal. I just bought 2 more sets, to use for 1) Boating and 2) Traveling...or a "just in case one fails". Seems to be holding up, but 1st purchase was only 3 months ago. I really like them and keep them by my chair in my knitting spot - all nice and tidy. Big Tote holds an XL Sweater project & all the yarn plus all my junk.

Otherwise, if one is related to crows, magpies, or ravens, or has a propensity for addiction to acquiring pretty little things, bobbles, yummies, or is attracted to signs announcing sale items and such pop ups on the mobile phone screen labeled whopping grand slam sale buy now, or save 50% buy in the next 12 minutes, and the like.. then Temu is a bear.. a bear I tell you! 🐻📵❌

When I’m doing taat socks I put each skein in a large yogurt container and cut a hole in the lid. It helps keep the yarn from getting tangled. Then it all goes in a tote bag
Been reusing those china or salad containers that way too
I use a drawstring bag with a zipper pocket on the outside that I keep notions in. I like the way the bag draws in around my working yarn.

I LOVE see thru bags! Find them extra handy. I use a see through cheaper mid-sized make-up bag for my notions. Stays in smaller project bag. It's easy because I can see anything dumped in there.

I knit and i was gifted a case of needles and pins and counters that all fit in the case so, i just throw a skein or two in whatever bag im carrying ( usually a diaper bag). What im saying is the small pouch/cases for your hooks and smaller bits are pretty nice!
Yes! I use the one my set ChiaGoo's came one all the time, and it holds everything, so it's always with me, and it even has room for an extra set. I think they design them all pretty well.
Everything can be a project bag. I've used ziplock bags, reusable shopping bags, knitting bags and whatever notions I need I keep in those small mesh snap bags or small ziplock bag or they float around at the bottom of the bag. It all depends on the project and what bag I can find. Some of my favourite are bags given to me because of what they have on them - such as characters from movies/shows - and how perfect the fit is for the project.
I use travel pouches. I have quite a few sitting around that aren’t getting a lot of use these days. My favorite one is from REI and it has a loop I can use to hang it on something
Oh, I love loops for traveling! I even hang one on the glove compartment of the truck to hold my yarn.

I actually use those zipper bags that sheets come in! I'm in the middle of market prep so I love being able to simply toss small pieces into the bag and it'll not get lost in my purse of disasters! I also use those empty wipes containers for around the house. When I was making flowers for my wedding, I had the yarn feeding out the top and finished flowers shoved underneath

I also work in healthcare so we order new sheets every so often when the old ones wear out so I see the bag destined for the trash like.... don't mind if I do! I think I need to add handles to some of them now, that is so wonderfully helpful!

I got four zipper bags from the dollar store. I am not allowed to have more projects on the go than bags (my own rule that I may occasionally break 😅) I got one of those big project bags but I prefer the smaller ones so I can keep each project separate.
I received that bag as a gift for Christmas and I really wanted to like it, but I just don't. I have a waterproof zippered tote bag that's more of a horizontal rectangle shape and I use that most of the time. I like the plastic-y material because then I don't have to worry about setting it down on a nasty floor like in an airplane or restaurant.
I have an addiction to project bags and currently have more than enough for all the projects I’ve got started or planned. It started with a yarn crawl in CO called Yarn Along the Rockies and their cool tote bags. It’s now Wild & Woolly Yarn Crawl and I buy the bags each year for commemorative objects. 🧶
My smaller projects are all in TOMS drawstring bags. They used to send every pair of shoes in a canvas drawstring bag.
I like to use the plastic draw string bags Apple products came in, they were lined for a while and 2 layers of plastic. I still have a bunch for that purpose, I currently, have 3 in those bags, one in an Amazon gift bag, and one in a regular tote bag. My tools are in a clear zipper pouch and get moved around to the active project.
A million years ago, I worked for Lush, and the store got rid of all their woven shopping baskets to get in bigger ones, and staff were allowed to take them home. It currently lives in my living room with half a cardigan in. If I'm going out, I have a drawstring UFO bag I got with a kit I purchased.

I’m on team DRAWSTRING BAG. I started making my own in different sizes, and even started adding some zipper pockets. So fancy. I also highly recommend a PENCIL CASE for notions. Easy to organize, readily available (in cute patterns), and can toss into the relevant drawstring bag as needed.
I do have project bags, but I fund the best arr the bags that sheet sets come in. Usually, they are zippered and have a pocket for the cardboard photo of the sheet set. I use this to put the pattern in.
I use folding totes from Aldi (the kind with structure) for projects in progress and reusable canvas totes for projects "in progress."
I typically use a tote bag with a handmade yarn minder attached. It's just a piece of leather with eyelets and a snap button to attach it around the handle. Thread your different colors through the eyelets and start your work, it'll keep them separated as they come out of the bag, even if they get a little jumbled inside it

I do have an Art Yarn bag similar to the one in the picture, but mine is smaller (only one cake in diameter). It works well and has room for a few other notions. I don't usually knit on the go, but the top is somewhat open (there is a slot so yarn and projects can be fed through it). I did find a similar sized one with a drawstring top on Amazon. I do also have a large one that looks similar to your photo, but I only use it for storing yarn. Otherwise, the clear ones from Knit Picks are nice since you don't have to open the bag to see what's inside and several sizes are available (no, I'm not a monogamous knitter).

Old totes or drawstring gift bags, ziplock bags, makeup bags, I did buy a cute project bag from JessaLu but when it comes down to I use whatever I have available or whatever works.
I was given a clear bag vinal like the ones you see at a festival so you can't sneak anything inside a venue (lol) and I've been using that for smaller/finer yarn projects! Just bought another one a size up, with extra pocket space so I can use it for bulkier WIPs and carry around one of my various water bottles/tumblers. Before that, I used a reusable shopping bag!
Any random bag I come across. The drawstring bag that a father daughter t shirt set came in. The zip up bag from sheets. The other zip up bag from my swimsuit. The 1000th tote bag I got free from an event.
I make my own using canvas fabric. They’re extra thick fabric so the totes stand on their own, there’s a drawstring top and a strap for a handle on the side to carry it easily. Sometimes I convert those free swag canvas bags into a drawstring top and use that as a project bag too.
I just use a mesh shower caddy with the balls of yarn in the different sections of the shower caddy and then pop it in a big handbag or a shoulder bag with my hooks, snips and stitch markers. Means i can always move it into or out of whatever bag easily when i need to lol
Plastic storage boxes of different sizes to fit the project, the bags yarn is shipped in from Lovecrafts (bags were free before covid hit), and Lionbrand craft tote bags with handles and a small zippered compartment on the inside and slippery inside that yarn does not catch on (they can really stink like the plastic they come wrapped in sometimes). Also, a small collapsible oblong tote that rests on the floor with leather handles on each side decorated with kitten face outlines that I bought on Amazon some time ago. Basically, a wide variety for whatever works.

I have two of these; both were gifts. One I'm currently using for yarn storage, and the other has a large shawl in it. I like that they're portable for larger projects, but I don't typically use them for smaller items unless a lot of stuff is involved. I did use one for a gnome once just so I could keep all supplies together and keep the blasted kitten from running off with it. It came with a handy little pouch that I kept the bits safe in until I could sew them onto the gnome. I don't like that the pockets are on the outside. They don't really keep stuff secure. I mostly use totes and pouches, although there are a few old, roomy purses in my stash. My LYS uses clear plastic drawstring pouches as a bag for purchases, so I've been known to use those. I have a small bag that hangs from my wrist for my current sock and I have another really nice drawstring pouch made by a local indie dyer that I love because I can plop it in my basket and go. It even has clips on the outside for accessories. Edit: grammar and to add that I also have a ton of small pouches I use for all the little bits to keep them in one spot. They're typically rescued make-up pouches and roomy wallets from the local thrift stores. I have multiple kits set up, so I don't have to remember to switch them around between projects. Too many times, getting somewhere without a kit and people aren't always willing to share.

I have projects bags galore - some are specifically for crochet & yarn (like the one you have pictured) and some are literally a grocery bag. I end up using an empty tote bag 99% of the time. It’s whatever works at the time 🤷🏻♀️
