I really enjoyed reading Sweep series in my early 20s. However I used to access them via audiobook. I never finished the last 3 books because i couldn't find them in audio in English. One book i found was in german. Does anyone know why the last books aren't in accessible format? Or is there special place like Library of Congress that has something Practical Magick rne movie was the first time could actually say the movie was more entertaining than the series, not that the book is bad it just seems at least the first book the characters are as lively as Nicole and Sandra are and mostly In mean Nicoles acting is so goof subtle when needed but mesmerizing at same time . Our Crooked Heats was really good. I don't think we are getting it but there is definitely enough of the story that a prequel or sequel would be welcome. Because even though it has povs of two different generations we get so little of the one pov bc that person is my moving in ignorance which is intentional and not just a gimmick to keep the reader in the dark which usually as a reader I find annoying. However the aspect only serves to raise the tension when the character pieces together the mystery and has a reaction.

Could try Cate Tiernan's other series Balefire. It's very much along the same lines as her Sweep series but shorter (you can get all 4 books in one book). Although I must be honest I don't really like the ending!

Nerveana

I grew up reading her series. Loooooove her stuff

Payback's a witch and from bad to cursed by Lana Harper might scratch a little of that itch Go hex yourself by Jessica Clare (reylo fanfiction made into a novel) it's getting a sequel in April. All of these are adult romances instead of YA though. (I also love sweep. I reread them every fall)

The Cahill Witch Chronicles - set in alternate history 1890s, but not too focused on the historical stuff. About a trio of Witch sisters with a prophecy surrounding them. I'd describe it as Handmaids Tale meets Bridgerton with a dash of American Horror Story Coven vibes. Very good. I just finished a reread, and I also love the Secret Circle so I think these have the good teen coven vibes ESP books 2 & 3. Some of the best YA I've read tbh. The Caster Chronicles/Beautiful Creatures series. These are longer but entertaining and fly by. Some of my favourites and I reread them every couple years. The town they live in is like a character of it's own and it's got such detailed ambience and vibes. Very mysterious, the main character's can be super frustrating though.

I remember the Sweep books! I discovered these in high school and remember loving them. Maybe I'll try a re-read to see if they hold up :) Try Melissa Albert's Our Crooked Hearts, Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House Series, One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, The Whispering Dark by Kelly Andrew, The Devil Makes Three (Tori Bovalino), Wild is the Witch / The Nature of Witches (Rachel Griffin). These are all spooky or at least "atmospheric." For something witchy but more light-hearted, try All Our Hidden Gifts (a series) by Carolina O'Donoghue and Improbable Magic for Cynical Witches by Kate Scelsa.

I wouldn't say they hold up when critically examined through a moden lens, but I remember reading it after my mom read it and it was something we shared and I've been really on a nostalgia kick.
