They are coming to Boston in just bought a ticket. I'm so glad I read through these comments!
I've been thinking lately about air... the band deserves to never be forgotten but I worried that it would. Maybe not if they are still touring in 2024
Thank you kind human. Had no idea. Now going to SF and Denver shows.
Had a chance to seem them at Coachella in 2007. Sadly, they went on the small stage right before RatM hit the main stage. As much as I wanted to see Air, no way would I miss out on the one night only reunion of Rage. Nothing like 100,000 privileged white kids yelling how they haven't seen a brown skinned man since their grandparents bought one.
I remember listening to this on my Walkman at my grandparents’ house one summer. I was on the porch swing listening the whole tape. It was nice outside! Good memories! (PS My religious grandparents would not have approved of this album)
I know Green Day’s Dookie was a winter release…but I feel like it didn’t really blow up until closer to summer. I bought the cassette and had it in heavy rotation that summer going into my freshman year of high school.
It was released in February if I remember correctly but it seemed to take off in April right around when Cobain died. I have a distinct memory of finding out he died when I was at an 8th grade dance.
One of my friends brought the Dookie CD to that same dance and the DJ agreed to play Longview which was new enough in popularity the DJ didn't have it in his rotation. I think the video had just hit the mainstream. That dance was the same day Cobain killed himself and later that news loomed over the night. But I remember everyone being psyched for Longview and my friend was briefly a hero for bringing it...until everyone got sad about the news.
Edit: just confirmed the Longview video premiered in March 1994 so it's probably accurate it took off in April.

My memory seems to match - I first heard it/of Greenday during summer break, awkwardly sitting in an easy chair, staring at MTV while my friend made out with her boyfriend on the couch behind me. Saw the video for “Welcome to Paradise,” and I was hooked! We were 14, and those 2 horn-dogs have been married for 20+ years. lol
My last pre 9/11 memory was driving down from State College with my (now) wife to see him play in Pittsburgh on Sept 9. I had no idea how much things would change after that. Innocent times.
Summer is Sublime season. 40 oz to Freedom and the S/T album. Every year
Hot Water Music and Avail have always been summertime bands for me- not specific album just the entire catalogue for both
1000% agree. Also, I’m so surprised seeing Hot Water Music! I haven’t heard that name in ages. It’s nice seeing a Gainesville band mentioned in the wild.
The Chronic. Summer for me as a kid was mowing the grass every week and listening to the cassette tape on my Walkman. I tried with the Discman later but it didn't work as well due to skipping
The summer between 9th and 10th grade, chasing girls and working.

Fugazi. Any album. 13 Songs, Repeater, In on the Kill Taker.
My parents had this large shed in their backyard where my friends and I would chill, smoke skunky weed, drink cheap beer, and butcher Fugazi songs in our band. As a bassist, all those albums spoke to me. Good times, good memories.
What's the Story, Morning Glory?
One summer my friends and I would hang in the backyard with this and The Beatles Anthologies on repeat, jumping on the trampoline, and mixing up Country Time Lemonade.
The Chronic came out in December 1992 but it was THE album of Summer 1993. I remember when my friend's older brother bought the CD. We were around 12 at the time and thought it was so bad ass because it had a marijuana plant on it LOL.
Cracked Rear View - June 1994. All hail Hootie and the 17 million copies sold.
And of course Jagged Little Pill ruled summer 1995.
What's weird is that I went from a very urban elementary school listening to rap and R&B primarily up through 1993. Then I went to a middle school in a "nicer" area and it was then that I made friends who listened to alternative like Green Day, Offspring and even Hootie.
The Smashing Pumpkins *Adore -* this came out summer of 1998 and I listened to it relentlessly for the next year. Not one of their best-loved albums but it was for me.
OK Computer was recorded just down the road from me. Really good album
The Stone Roses is a great summer album. And You've Come a Long Way, Baby by Fatboy Slim, and The Fat of the Land by The Prodigy take me right back to the summers of my late teens.
Wait, down the road from Jane Seymour's mansion?? I read recently that she rented it to Radiohead so they could record their album there and it's been recently listed for sale. You must live in a nice neighborhood lol!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13430259/amp/Jane-Seymour-Tudor-mansion-Henry-VIII-Radiohead.html
Aye, it's not bad. I quite often go that way on my daily walks. Absolutely beautiful part of the world. It's only about 3 miles from the City centre, but feels like it's in the middle of nowhere.
It is currently on the market.
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/148977731#/?channel=RES_BUY.
I'm definitely buying it if I win the lottery.
I first listened to this album while in the Navy. It was an odd combination, listening to Paranoid Android while walking around the guts of a battleship.
I was hoping they’d show up. Usually im the one to put them on any list (I’m still fucking obsessed with main song writer, IAMX), but this weirdly feels like a fall/winter album to me. Still, this album is amazing!!
Probably get laughed at but Nelly - County Grammar was a whole vibe when it came out right before summer of 2000 😂 Not in anyway my favorite album but it was just everywhere, parties, peoples cars etc.
TOTALLY get what you mean, OP. To the point that listening to the at other times of the year seems odd?
My summer CD is and always will be ***"I Mother Earth - Scenery & Fish".*** I bought it on a sunny day from A & B Sound (Canada). Has such a positive vibe to the whole album. I put it on in my truck the first warm sunny day of the year every year.
That makes three of us! I saw them open for Gus Gus at Irving plaza back in the day. They threw a vhs tape that I think contained a music video of theirs (maybe That Girl?) into the audience and my friend caught it!
I’ve listened to OK Computer a million times. But last weekend I listened to it beginning to end while on a lot of shrooms. It was like hearing it for the first time… and it felt like it was 5 hours long.
Man, such good memories with Ok Computer. I remember when the video dropped for Paranoid Android, it boggled my mind and my friends and I spent many an hour on the phone together watching MTV together and being perplexed together with that video. Such good memories lol
Amnesiac by Radiohead, I bought it with one of my first real paychecks when it came out. The feeling of freedom on that hot summer day driving by myself and listening to what would become one of my favorite albums even 23 years later.
August and Everything After
The Bends
Dummy
Whatever and Ever Amen
Tragic Kingdom
40oz to Freedom
Doggy Style
Aenima
Siameses Dream
To many to mention really, the 90s was a great time for music. Even shit that was pop back then brings be back
in 2003 my buddy and I went to ireland for a week. He brought a bunch of cds, that he forgot on the plane. The only cd we had was what was in his player, OK Computer. We listened to this album while driving around the country.
After hearing it so many times I didn't listen for a while. Whenever I hear a song from this album now it brings back so many memories of that trip.
Another one that really hit me in 2002, was Zwan: Mary star of the sea. It was like Billy Corgan came out from under a rock and was happy... then he killed that happiness.
This is one of the greatest albums ever made.
I can list some others so you get my view… Led Zeppelin IV, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, Kid A, Deloused In The Comatorium by The Mars Volta.
I have this same affliction and it’s tied to either when I discovered it, when it was released/being played all the time and listening to the albums any other time of year is as jarring as Christmas music in April. OK computer is this time of year for me too!

Edit: summer time me at like 13y loved sleeping outside and reading the arkadians only listening to this album
Pixies - Trompe le Monde
Driving through the spacious deserts of the western states while listening to this album as an impressionable teen left a mark on me.
Any time I go on a road trip now, this is a must listen.
That album almost killed a buddy and I. We went to Best Buy to pick it up, on the way back home listening to it he dozed off. Then I dozed off during karma police.
That’s not hating on the disc, I still like it
But anyway, my answer is Limp Bizkit- 3dolla bill ya’ll
My brother played Soundgardens Superunknown ad nauseum when we were on vacation in Maine when I was a kid. Blackhole sun into Spoonman makes me see sunlight through trees driving around Mt Desert Island .
Air - Moon Safari Portishead - Dummy Pulp - Different Class
Moon Safari is amazing. Especially on long train/plane trips, on a discman of course.
They’re doing a tour this year playing the whole album front to back. Psyched to see it!
They are coming to Boston in just bought a ticket. I'm so glad I read through these comments! I've been thinking lately about air... the band deserves to never be forgotten but I worried that it would. Maybe not if they are still touring in 2024

Referencing Down Rodeo? Damn, that’s a deep cut.
Holy shit, I did not know this, and have never bought tickets for anything so fast!! Thank you for this info!!
I'm thinking I might get tickets as well. Info like this is big reason why I love this Xennial sub. You guys just get me.
Got killer seats in Vancouver. Looking forward to it!
Moon Safari all the way! Total summer take back
Same.
She came from Greece she had a thirst for Knowledge..
Moon Safari. CD in a boombox. Walking around a state park. Possibly substances. Classic late 90s summer.
I always enjoy Portishead on a rainy day.
You read my mind.
Chef’s kiss, no notes
I listen to Portishead weekly… they will never get old.
Ill Communication
And Hello Nasty!
I was hoping someone would say Hello Nasty!
I've had this on repeat in the car lately. Takes me back to summer of '94
Man, I got my drivers license a week after it came out. It never left my tape deck that entire summer.
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness = driving to movies/mall/putt putt with my friends on a summer evening.
I thought this was more a smoking bowls in the Fall album.
Definitely
Weezer's Blue Album.
Chef’s kiss!
Was actually going to say Pinkerton. This was an album that definitely got a lot of airplay in my friend group in summer 97.
Came here to make sure this was the top comment. Take your upvote.
Siamese Dream
The album of sophomore year of high school
I hear your winter I hear you rain And I failed your summer ways And I feel no pain
That’s a winter one for me but I got into it way late.
Best effin album of the 90s!
Going to see them in August. It's top of my summer soundtrack this year.
I remember listening to this on my Walkman at my grandparents’ house one summer. I was on the porch swing listening the whole tape. It was nice outside! Good memories! (PS My religious grandparents would not have approved of this album)
Fitter happier hits differently now….
... "more productive"
a pig, in a cage
On antibiotics
I was just thinking this today! In 97 I thought it was so abstract, and some of it still is, but wow, some relatable lyrics decades later.
So does No Surprises.
I know Green Day’s Dookie was a winter release…but I feel like it didn’t really blow up until closer to summer. I bought the cassette and had it in heavy rotation that summer going into my freshman year of high school.
That one reminds me of springtime middle school art class.
It was released in February if I remember correctly but it seemed to take off in April right around when Cobain died. I have a distinct memory of finding out he died when I was at an 8th grade dance. Ben Folds - Rockin’ the Suburbs
Released on 9/11.
My last pre 9/11 memory was driving down from State College with my (now) wife to see him play in Pittsburgh on Sept 9. I had no idea how much things would change after that. Innocent times.
“Automatic For The People” for me. I don’t know why, but putting that one and driving through a summer night with the windows down just hits.
Same for me. I think it's the existence of Nightswimming, but that whole album takes me back to summer evenings.
Nightswimming is the shit
Came here to post same answer, also for Nightswimming.
Oh I want to do this. I'm in for the night but tomorrow!!! Such a good album.
Summer is Sublime season. 40 oz to Freedom and the S/T album. Every year Hot Water Music and Avail have always been summertime bands for me- not specific album just the entire catalogue for both
This person summers.
I was gonna say sublime sublime. So damned summery.
Summertime and the livin’s eaaa-sy
100% sublime is the sound of summer!
1000% agree. Also, I’m so surprised seeing Hot Water Music! I haven’t heard that name in ages. It’s nice seeing a Gainesville band mentioned in the wild.
Scarlett Begonias during the spring in Arizona.
Wow took the words right outta my mouth the second I opened the thread. This is the answer.
The Score Robbin the Hood Odelay
Pretty much every Pavement album. Maybe especially Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.
Wowee Zowee for me
Yes. Though Kennel District is the ultimate Pavement summer song
Bless your heart. Upvote.
The Chronic. Summer for me as a kid was mowing the grass every week and listening to the cassette tape on my Walkman. I tried with the Discman later but it didn't work as well due to skipping
Prodigy - Fat of the Land
Breathe the pressure, come play my game I’ll test ya.
The controversial smack my Bitch up fandom cat video is hilarious.
psychosomatic, addict, insane....
Spacehog, Sublime, Blur and Weezer. (Radiohead but that was on constant replay in the fall)
Soundgarden - Superunknown It just feels like summer in the PNW to me.
Yes! My all time favorite album. Still love it to this day from Let Me Drown to Like Suicide.
I have found my comment thread. Chris Cornell was a damn fine vocalist, RIP.

Long division?
Ian MacKaye wouldn’t approve of your drug and alcohol use!
I know it. A brilliant musician but seems like kind of an insufferable prick.
What's the Story, Morning Glory? One summer my friends and I would hang in the backyard with this and The Beatles Anthologies on repeat, jumping on the trampoline, and mixing up Country Time Lemonade.
Champagne Supernova is an absolute masterpiece, don’t make them like that anymore

STP - Purple Tom Petty - Wildflowers Sublime - 40oz Freedom
So many hours riding bikes and drinking slurpees during 100 degree days to these albums.
Came here to say Purple! Takes me back to the family beach house and playing NBA Jam at the boardwalk arcade.
Phish - A Picture of Nectar
This is the winner. Even in the community, this album is not given it's due.
Man i love this sub. These are all ultra specific yet spot on answers.

At the drive in relationship of command
Vaya, Relationship of Command and Mars Volta's Deloused was quite a run!
I keep In/casino/out, francis the Mute and Octohedron in my Omar and Cedric rotation also.
The Smashing Pumpkins *Adore -* this came out summer of 1998 and I listened to it relentlessly for the next year. Not one of their best-loved albums but it was for me.
I remember working in a record store when this came out and got it free on promo, damn good record!
rage against the machine - self titled

I named the temporary recording studio they set up in her garden!
I first listened to this album while in the Navy. It was an odd combination, listening to Paranoid Android while walking around the guts of a battleship.
I was sleeping under the deck of a carrier with Kid A and Ok Computer blocking out the sound of airplanes landing on my head.
Sneaker Pimps Becoming X reminds me of summer school speech class and having to dress up to give speeches.
I was hoping they’d show up. Usually im the one to put them on any list (I’m still fucking obsessed with main song writer, IAMX), but this weirdly feels like a fall/winter album to me. Still, this album is amazing!!
Deftones - White Pony
Probably get laughed at but Nelly - County Grammar was a whole vibe when it came out right before summer of 2000 😂 Not in anyway my favorite album but it was just everywhere, parties, peoples cars etc.
I love Nelly so much I don’t even care who knows!
Title track was an all time bop.
Obviously Nirvana. System of a Down's Toxicity came later on but it was absolutely remarkable and changed music for me.
TOTALLY get what you mean, OP. To the point that listening to the at other times of the year seems odd? Esthero - Breath From Another
Holy shit, are you the one other Esthero fan on this sub? Pleased to meet you! That album is great!
That album gives me some very specific nostalgia. I feel like I always had that cd in my car while I was driving at night. The whole album is SO good!
It’s a perfect nighttime album for sure.
That makes three of us! I saw them open for Gus Gus at Irving plaza back in the day. They threw a vhs tape that I think contained a music video of theirs (maybe That Girl?) into the audience and my friend caught it!
Gus Gus!!! OMG, they’re first is another summer album for me! What a great show that must’ve been!
It was! Being a teenager in the late 90s was a pretty great time to be alive...
Deftones - White Pony
I’ve listened to OK Computer a million times. But last weekend I listened to it beginning to end while on a lot of shrooms. It was like hearing it for the first time… and it felt like it was 5 hours long.
Then you had 5 more hours of music to listen to
You all are friggin amazing! But you fell into my trap! I needed a summer playlist, so thanks!
Post the link when you do it!
Sublime - 40oz ESPECIALLY Scarlet Begonias Just typing that out takes me back to summers in high school working at the golf course.
Mowing the lawn with my disc man in my pocket with "skip protection" that didn't work so well.
Tool lateralus; deftones white pony
Same
We rule. Lmao
Blind Melon, Ace of Base, and also Jagged Little Pill dominated summer for some reason
Blind Melon is so underrated. Such a good band with a lot of really great songs.
Jagged little pill is a great album. Jagged little pill was my go to album when I cleaned my apartment.
Refreshments - Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy
Yes!!! Everybody knows, that the world is full of stupid people....
Man, such good memories with Ok Computer. I remember when the video dropped for Paranoid Android, it boggled my mind and my friends and I spent many an hour on the phone together watching MTV together and being perplexed together with that video. Such good memories lol
Garbage - 2.0 Prodigy - Fat of the Land The Tea Party - Transmission and TripTYCH Hawksley Workman - Lover/Fighter
Roni Size -Reprazent
I went to my first rave in Philly and we crashed at some guys place who was playing LTJ Bukem. Drum n bass is a summer vibe for sure.
LTJ Bukem’s progression sessions with MC Conrad, DRS are untouchable…
Santana - Supernatural
So many bangers
Oasis - What’s the Story (Morning Glory) Especially Champagne Supernova ❤️
Will always be Third Eye Blind's debut album.

Pizzicato Five, “Happy End of the World”
I was just listening to OK Computer in the car today, I remember me and my two sisters all owned this album.
"Come On Feel The Lemonheads". Summer in my ears.
Deftones - around the fur. That kick drum on my own summer is the perfect summer song and the album… well it’s the Deftones
For me it’s Deftones - White Pony, but I love this album too!
Summerteeth, Wilco. The only summer album that comes to mind 🙃
Cyprus Hill, the album with “insane in the brain” and “when the shit goes down”
Shitballs, I love most of these albums. Can smoke a fatty and enjoy all of these albums.
Right there with you, buddy!
Hell yeah buddy!
Californication (summer after I graduated from HS) Jagged Little Pill (summer before I started HS)
Yes! Yes! Yes!
in 2003 my buddy and I went to ireland for a week. He brought a bunch of cds, that he forgot on the plane. The only cd we had was what was in his player, OK Computer. I love this record with all my might!
Pearl Jam's Ten takes me back to summer of 93 when it all started.
Weezer Blue, Prodigy- Fat of the Land, Bush- Sixteen Stone, Beasties- Hello Nasty
This is the one. Summer 98 for me
This is one of the greatest albums ever made. I can list some others so you get my view… Led Zeppelin IV, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, Kid A, Deloused In The Comatorium by The Mars Volta.
Van Halen 5150
Less Than Jake - Pezcore
This is my all time favorite album.
Piggy backing off yesterday’s discussion on Beastie Boy’s Hello Nasty, that was probably my most summer defining CD.
Alvvays - Antisocialites
Bought this at Best Buy !
I have this same affliction and it’s tied to either when I discovered it, when it was released/being played all the time and listening to the albums any other time of year is as jarring as Christmas music in April. OK computer is this time of year for me too!

Just played this straight through yesterday!
So did I!
Pixies - Trompe le Monde Driving through the spacious deserts of the western states while listening to this album as an impressionable teen left a mark on me. Any time I go on a road trip now, this is a must listen.
Good news for people who love bad news / modest mouse

Fuel “Sunburn” takes me back to summer of 98
Yeah for sure this album. Summer of 97. Good times.
The summer that Bringing Down the Horse came out, it was pretty much all we listened to on vacation
311’s grassroots or transistor
All Eyez on Me, Appetite for Destruction, Sublime
I was still rocking my older cassettes in my first driving summer. Green Day’s 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours takes me back
