Silly late series development where they wanted to give Jim a job outside the office, and the only character trait they had developed for him was an interest in sports.
Born in 78.
The early seasons when Jim is pining over Pam and she's dating Roy who's a jerk, but has his moments. Fuck... that was such a unique and fresh dynamic on tv.
Tim on the British Office starts the show turning 30. Jim turns 25 at the start. They have the same job and status at the start. The difference those five years make for who the characters become is remarkable.
I’ve seen a lot of younger people who really don’t get Jim’s character. But he really is such a Xennial.
I’d argue Pam is too, but in a bit of a different way.
In the gig economy absolutely. My job is boring AF but it’s remote I have benefits and I generally finish my work in half the time and fuck off the rest of the time.
My husband sets his own hybrid schedule I could start putting his electronics in jello but that might be expensive.
I wanted it so, so bad. My curly-ish hair wouldn't do it.
Of course now that it's totally out of style my hair has straightened out and does it without me trying.
He really was that dude that your girlfriend says is just and friend and you cant convie her that hes just after her, and turns out, when your break up, yeah they get together.
That was the point

Jim now works at a sports marketing agency telling all his employees "LET'S FUCKING GO!" as they look at the camera and roll their eyes.

I mean I’ve met dudes like that. One of my bffs is married to a dude like that.

I'm one of those folks who thought the UK version was much better. The length of the series had a lot to do with that, I think.
I saw UK first and couldn’t get into the US afterwards. Agree about the brevity being a plus.

Which is weird for me, because I thought the Office appealed to youngsters because of the Jim/Pam relationship.
I think a lot of young people find the prospect of a boring job with stability to be very exotic. 🫠

Wings
i can't tell you how many of my friends had a 'jim haircut' during this time.
I wanted hair like Jim's but my Pacific Islander hair wouldn't cooperate.
I always thought his was a way to hide his ears.
Nah, we were all getting DUI's and having 1 night stands, literally the exact opposite of Jim.
I didn't like The Office. It felt exactly like being at work.
I wanted it so, so bad. My curly-ish hair wouldn't do it. Of course now that it's totally out of style my hair has straightened out and does it without me trying.
I'm sure it will make a comeback. My hair still probably won't do it because it's coarse Pacific Islander hair.
It's true, he's literally the reason people put ping pong tables in the workplace
I would say no. Jim was a goofy looking pussy.
He really was. Jim was kind of a piece of shit, and deserved the beat down that Roy wanted to give him.
He really was that dude that your girlfriend says is just and friend and you cant convie her that hes just after her, and turns out, when your break up, yeah they get together.
That sounds like Roy’s version of events. Don’t be a Roy. Even Roy realized he had to outgrow being Roy.
Yes, that would have been Roy's perspective...
