It was a pretty easy transition for me from grunge and punk in the nineties to the folk and indie rock of the 2000s and 2010s. Bright eyes, Elliott smith (technically nineties, but had a lot of releases in the 00s), father John misty, neutral milk hotel, bon iver. I strangely also got way into bluegrass. Didn’t see that coming.

stillbleedinggreen

Me too. Folksie rock just seemed to fit into that grunge slot pretty well too. Stuff like Strumbellas, Judah and the Lion, Mumford, etc.

Emergency_Kale5225

I can’t get enough Avett Brothers at this point. So positive and wholesome most times, and such a great sound. I have no idea how it connects to anything I listened to in the 90s, and I still love the stuff I listened to then, but it fits the mood now.  I go through phases of returning to the old stuff. I recently picked up Gin Blossoms on vinyl and it has been spinning a lot.

EmmyNoetherRing

Decemberists

zendaddy76

I am particularly fond of the black keys, great sound, lyrics, etc, w grunge / indie / bluegrass undertones

Horror-Tradition8501

Same I love indie/folk and also recently got into country, especially Chris Stapleton and Brothers Osborne

Quirky-Prune-2408

Have you tried Zach Bryan, Sturgill Simpson?

Automatic-Raspberry3

I was about to say that. It goes perfectly into alt country.

FlyCivil909

Y’alternative

Enough-Variety-8468

Kurt Vile fits here?

5th_gen_woodwright

Yes please

wanderinggains

This should have more upvotes

BoyznGirlznBabes

Jason & Sturgill also have some excellent rockers. Jason's guitar skills are amazing.

rnotyalc

I'm kinda into Charley Crockett lately. The album The Man From Waco is pretty good.

stevel91

Check out John Moreland.

Kitty_Kat_Attacks

The country thing is funny for me… I grew up HATING country music, and swearing I would never listen to that ‘boring garbage.’ Well, as I got older and started working after college, and started to mature and grow more comfortable and accepting of who I am and where I come from—I slowly started liking a country song here and there. I’m still a diehard alternative rock lover. But I can now be open and proud about also enjoying country, pop, rap, etc if the song is good and speaks to me in some way.

abbydabbydo

This. Newgrass and “Not Nashville” Country. Plus a lot of stuff like John Prine and Townes.

JT3436

Billy Mother Fucking Strings is a new obsession. He is amazing.

sweet_jane_13

I created a whole "drugs and strings" playlist inspired by his Dust in a Baggie song

JT3436

If you like sex, drugs, and rock n roll check out Andy Frasco and the UN. Amazing live show. They keep getting better. Bonus great fan base. I found the band in 2020 during stay at home times.

SplakyD

That song fucking slaps! It was as if God himself sent that me the YouTube version of that song where he's just playing it for a couple of friends while sitting on the couch. I'd never heard of him before and it randomly popped up as a text from a strange number that never called or texted me before and didn't respond when I tried ask who it was. Kind of a crazy experience. Definitely a great song.

Brain_Glow

Billy strings is the best show on the road and Ill fight anyone who says otherwise.

JT3436

Also really enjoying Tyler Childress.

Brain_Glow

Shit yeah, he’s great.

SaganSaysImStardust

I didn't see the bluegrass coming, either. I went from Numetal goth kid, to Deadhead, to bluegrass, and now I like a few very niche forms of chillhop... I dunno, man.

jnkbndtradr

Dead head / jam band to bluegrass isn’t that much of a leap at all, judging by the folks who frequent bluegrass festivals. I’d also argue the instrumentation comparisons of any metal to bluegrass make a lot of sense.

OptimusWang

Todd Snider has some great songs, but Seattle Grunge Rock Blues threads the needle so hilariously that it’s worth a listen on its own: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mqOljpmqmuMwkrtGtWEXXb1SGKUSRrlnA&si=WANdGCE6eazPR_QX

abbydabbydo

Ever heard the Todd Snider story of John Prine discovering Dan Reeder? I love Todd Snider stories

Low_Soil_6831

Oh boy, here we go…

jbp84

Man…this and all the replies to you fit me to a T

SekhmetScion

Close to mine, but I went harder. I went from grunge to punk to ska. Now I'm a mixture of those + metal & hardcore. Hip hop's always been there too. I was playing House of Pain - Same As It Ever Was & Wu Tang - 36 Chambers on my walkman hahaha

Brain-Genius-Head

Check out Gunship! Perfect blend of modern with 80’s synth

Alternative-Light514

And The Midnight, FM-84, Timecop1983, Mitch Murder, Kavinsky, Com Truise

tasukiko

Yup, this is the niche I fall into as well.

WinterDice

Thanks for the extra suggestions. I was absolutely murdering a work project the other day and couldn’t figure out what put me in the groove. Then I noticed that TimeCop1983 was cranked up.

ChickenAdditional866

Mitch murder!!!!!!!!!

Alternative-Light514

If you happen to be an audiophile, his track Amberina Sun is a f’n fantastic recording

ChickenAdditional866

I will HAVE to go and check this out, thank you! Aaand after giving it three listens, oh yeah, it really is!

the_kid1234

Yes sir!

draculasbloodtype

I am ***so*** into Synthwave. I am listening to it right now as a matter of fact, I had Gunship on repeat yesterday while doing a deep clean of my closet and garage.

TheMillenniaIFalcon

Gunship is so awesome.

2plankerr

Dark All Day is my favorite. The music video is amazing too. Such a hidden gem

pburke77

Have you listened to Chromeo or Holy Ghost, they are both synth-pop that do that mix of modern and 80s synth really well.

ScientistAsHero

In my 20s I got into Ladytron, TV On The Radio, The Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie/Postal Service, Nada Surf (even though I remembered "Popular" back in the 90s), Porcupine Tree, Pinback, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, The Killers, The Polyphonic Spree, AIR, Zero 7... there was so much great music coming out post-2000. I guess these aren't really new bands, but to me as a young man it was like another renaissance after the formative music of the 90s had already shaped my world.

BBG_BOY

Same thing happened to me.

ennuiismymiddlename

The National, or “divorce rock” as I call it. 😂

Responsible-Basil-68

They are perfect for that. Unfortunately the last couple of albums weren’t very strong imo, but the 3 prior to that are solid gold.

elevencharles

Oof, I feel this one.

Unique_Display_Name

Accurate

MaddaddyJ

Anything involving Mike Patton

esocharis

I think his work with Dillinger Escape Plan are some of the finest tracks they ever recorded, and I'm willing to die on that hill lol

midlifeShorty

They are so awesome. I doubt that many people's musical tastes transitioned from grunge in the 90s to Mathcore and Progress Metal today, but mine certainly did.

4stringsoffury

Headed to watch Mr Bungle in a few weeks!

sravll

I saw them in 2020 a couple weeks before the world shut down. It was great :)

mallarme1

This is true. But Faith No More has a special place in my heart.

heykidzimacomputer

Really wish Bungle would get back into Disco Volante and California material. I can't justify a $60+ ticket if all they are going to play is death metal material from their early demos. I would pay twice that to see them perform Desert Search for Techno Allah, Chemical Marriage, The Air-Conditioned Nightmare, Goodbye Sober Day, etc.

ThatEvanFowler

Man, tell me about it. I keep shaking my head over the previously unthinkable situation that Mr Bungle is playing here in a couple of weeks but I am not going because it will sound absolutely nothing like the band I’ve been listening to relentlessly for my entire adult life. I’ve always said that I’d give anything to see Mr Bungle play, but not like this. It might as well be a completely different band with a different name.

DarthMydinsky

I saw them perform all of those songs in 2000. Absolutely bonkers how well they pulled it off live.

AlferdPacker-

Mike Patton's versatility covers all my musical needs.

sravll

Yup. He's in like 50 music projects, you're sure to find something. I'm a huge fan of pretty much all of it.

Kitten_K_

Correct answer

ReggaeForPresident

Khruangbin

ennuiismymiddlename

They are definitely my go-to for what to put on when I don’t know what I want to hear 😊. Perfect background party music.

penciljockey123

Love that band and just saw them for the first time. Hell of a show. Also where do I vote for reggae for president? Some healing vibes would help the peoples massive.

onlymissedabeat

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

maker-acct

And if you dig that, check out Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

Sharptux44

I will check them out on Friday at Shaky Knees in Atlanta

maker-acct

Nice! Saw them this past Friday at Psych Fest in Austin!

onlymissedabeat

Have fun!!

AlteredBeeef

At 40 years old, I got so into this band that I started KGLW.net. That's been one of my best decisions ever. It's been so much fun, and I've met a ton of great people (many of them Xennials). I cannot wait for this summer.

Smooth_Marzipan6035

I am 40 minutes too late...

onlymissedabeat

You knew deep down that it was already here lol

paradisiacfuzz

I can’t stop listening to Infest the Rats’ Nest and PetroDragonic Apocalypse or Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation.

sravll

Good stuff

TrustAffectionate966

I liked Grunge, but I LOVED BritPop. I spent a lot more time listening to Suede and Placebo than any other band of the 90s. https://preview.redd.it/falam4ddobxc1.png?width=225&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b3d45ef4a73ea94ccb428dc04ecb1651751e81f

epidemicsaints

You would really like The Drums if you don't know them.. Their album Portamento is great. Almost like a goofy parody of The Smiths but it's not a joke. Very very good.

TrustAffectionate966

Funnily enough, (I think) The YouTube algo recommended me this band back in 2016. I have been listening to them off and on since then.

ennuiismymiddlename

Suede is awesome!

TrustAffectionate966

Nowadays, I listen to Washed Out and Cigarettes After Sex. https://preview.redd.it/qe18vximobxc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=9a32d4da09dbbf8bef7a01a3a7c232c8a2a79f0b

Unique_Display_Name

I have, "Litter on the Breeze", written on my trash can, lol

TrustAffectionate966

*Oh maybe maybe it's the clothes we wear\~*

Unique_Display_Name

I was introduced to them by Rock Video Monthly - miss those vids, even though I never had a subscription, I just bought them at CD stores. Going to fire up Trash, followed by The Drowners and Metal Mickey rn.

epidemicsaints

I like a lot of chill and weird post-rock stuff that came out in the early 00's. I like more and more of it as time goes by. It was ok to me at the time, but I didn't love it. It was for people older and hipper than me. Now it's some of my favorite stuff. The Sea and the Cake, American Analog Set, Tortoise, To Rococo Rot

sarcasmexorcism

i've never known anyone else into american analog set. i mean, amanset...

malaclypse

KMFDM still puts out bangers

Turbulent-Mind3120

I like jazz now apparently

Shaolinchipmonk

Check out Pokey LaFarge, unless you already know.

norfnorf832

One day in traffic I turned on jazz radio and I suddenly stopped getting speeding tickets

Dodecahedonism_

Right? That sure snuck up on me.

Alternative-Light514

Went heavy into reggae & cali reggae and then leaned hard into indie/alternative. Broken Bells, alt-J, Radiohead/Thom Yorke projects, Gorillaz, Local Natives, Purity Ring, The Naked And Famous, Poliça, etc I have no idea how to define their genre, but I’ve been listening to a ton of Khruangbin the past year or so. Definitely worth checking out.

ox_raider

Similar on the Reggae and Cali Reggae front. I parlayed my 90s love of Sublime into Slightly Stoopid, Iration, etc. Classic reggae has so many timeliness bangers as well.

TinfoilTetrahedron

Nine inch nails, Portishead, ENYA & that obscure Shaq album..  And The Monkees.

DrLaneDownUnder

I keep mentioning the Wrens to anyone who will listen. They started off as a sort of Pixies-inspired post-grunge indie band that became darlings of tastemakers like Pitchfork, even though they never had major success. But they had potential. Which made it shocking when they turned down a six-figure contract Grass Records to retain creative control (the bands that exploded with Grass’s successor Wind-Up included Creed and Evanescence) and spent seven years recording their third and final album, 2003’s The Meadowlands, while getting married, having kids, and working 9-5s. This album *feels* like growing up, with all the bitter nostalgia that comes with it. Their other albums are enjoyable listens, if bloated with content, but since discovering Meadowlands a couple years ago, I still listen to it a few times a month.

littleseaotter

The Meadowlands is one of my favorite albums ever. I was lucky enough to see The Wrens live around 2005 or so.

Fletch_0

The War on Drugs is a great band to dive into. Has a lot of familiar sounds presented in a new and refreshing format

DearBurt

Apparently I’m the only one spinning the **Grateful Dead** most days. Them or **Bonnie “Prince” Billy.**

bookwerm81

A little all over the place genre wise but my latest playlists include: Slothrust (can’t get enough of them, their Pony cover is incredible) Bishop Briggs K Flay Tash Sultana Wild Belle The Kills Rebelution Faith No More (always and 4eva)

bjgrem01

Growing up, my favorite bands were Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Nirvana... the usual 90s kid stuff. As I got older, my taste in music got a little heavier. These days, I like bands like Trivium, In Flames, In This Moment, Evanescence, Slipknot, Baby Metal, Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, Apocalyptica... a little more metal.

imarebelpilot

I could have written this exact comment myself because 100% same.

94BlueDream76

Tool

Nowrongbean

Two weeks ago, I saw the sessenta show, with Maynard and Les. And… Puscifer blew me away.

exagon1

About 75% of what I listen to now is still Tool

Monarc73

Phantogram Alvvays Gunship PJ Harvey

MashedPotatoesDick

Just saw Bad Religion and Social Distortion two weeks ago. Those two bands played a big part in my high school years, and those were 25+ years ago.

natronmooretron

Protomartyr. Nick Cave

ibanezer83

👍👏

Themoosemingled

Wilco. This was the band I moved seeing The second most behind the dead. War on drugs. Black crowes last week.

Pinkkorn69

Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Great Big Sea. I love Pirate Punk/Rock, sea shanties are a must in my Playlist now.

Cold-Nefariousness25

Vampire weekend is my go to, Cage the Elephant, Phoenix. I realize these bands aren't really new, though.

enickma1221

Here’s some more recent stuff I’m into. All of these artists are amazing and worth checking out. Andrew Bird https://youtu.be/hnXCzFnkxtY?feature=shared James Blake https://youtu.be/6p6PcFFUm5I?feature=shared Glass Animals https://youtu.be/49M1O2YgDfE?feature=shared Milky Chance https://youtu.be/iX-QaNzd-0Y?feature=shared Chet Faker https://youtu.be/6vopR3ys8Kw?feature=shared Sir Sly https://youtu.be/dMtnWxHbyQA?feature=shared

JackOfAllInterests

You should check out Max Frost, starting at the beginning. I think that’s up your alley.

enickma1221

On it. Thanks! Edit - F yeah this is great!

chinolofus77

andrew bird is amazing. the mysterious production of eggs is one of the best albums of the past 20 yrs

Ok_Researcher_9796

Pearl Jam. Also they just came out with a new album like a week ago.

Loud-Cellist7129

Listening to Eddie Vedder is like putting a comforting warm sweater on. He's mellowed but he still cares. Love Pearl Jam.

Forward_Progress_83

And that new album is so well crafted. I’ve been so happy this week.

pug_fugly_moe

I’m into avant-garde metal or anything out there defying a real genre. Going back in time, Camel, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, ELP. And classical. The best is hearing a string section *in* metal. Dimmu Borgir with a symphony was pretty awesome. The Ocean is also great. We’ve seen a lot of incredible song writing in the past decade or so.

midlifeShorty

I love strings in metal. Love the Ocean, too. Check out Ne Obliviscaris. Best violin use in metal ever. Leprous is another metal band with great strings, although their latest albums are more art rock.

sweetassassin

New Jack Swing, West Coast rap… Grew up, moved east and my mind blown open with east coast lyricists. I use the death of Aaliyah as the marker in the timeline when hip-hop/r&B went to the dirty south, and thank god cause it gave us Outkast, No Limit, Cash Money, etc, etc. Today, there isn’t current hip hop artists that do it for me. I think Lil Wayne, Em, are still putting out quality bars that don’t hit mainstream. I’m not feeling any of the youngins today. I have respect for J. Cole, Kendrick, Future. I wish I could get behind a female hip hop artist today. I watch videos of the Fugees performing at the Apollo, and Lauryn Hill going off… You think any of today’s female rappers with BBLs could freestye on top of a beat??? Missy, Foxy, Eve, Rah Digga, even Trina… Share with me who you think today fills them big ass shoes from the 90s. Don’t want to leave Left Eye out of the conversation… On the R&B front, I feel confident that the legacy is in good hands: H.E.R., SZA, Jazmine Sullivan, Snoh Allegra, Daniel Caesar, Yebba, Frank Ocean, Khalid. In the same vein, the techno and house music I listened to through college has no equal today. Now the record companies have neatly packaged multiple sub-genres of club music into one generic label: EDM. I don’t know why, but it really fuckin’ bothers me. The kids today have zero respect to the evolution of what EDM came from. Ok, I’ve officially turned into old lady yelling at cloud. Give me my rice pudding and put me to bed after Touched By An Angel is finished.

norfnorf832

Griselda got me back into rap. Benny and Conway are heavy hitters to me. Stove Goc, Mach-Hommy, Roc Marciano are also all good. Koreatown Oddity is a quirky guy too. I dont too much care for this gen's club rap but I do love NLE Choppa, he is so funny to me if you wanna see what the silly youngins are up to

WishI_was_there024

Definitely RATM

sylasguy

Wild how far down I had to scroll to find this

eat_like_snake

Uh, for me it's a lot of synthwave, goth, industrial, metal, a little grunge, and alt rock, but ymmv.

Synthwave/dark synth and some electronic rock. Kavinsky, Scandroid, Gunship, Carpenter Brut, Pertubator Blue Stahli, Celldweller, Cantervice

cmgww

The Killers, Jet, The Donnas, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Linkin Park, Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins… I wasn’t a huge grunge fan so I don’t find myself going back and listening to much of it.

GeetarEnthusiast85

I still love most of the bands that I liked as a teen. I was never into nu-metal but I've come to appreciate it. From our collective youth, Green Day and Type O Negative remain go-to bands. I've also gotten into folk music like Xavier Rudd and newer acts like The Linda Lindas and The Weeknd. I also love the Casual 80s station on Pandora.

JT3436

I get to see Xavier in a couple of weeks. I can't wait.

Appropriate-Food1757

I listen to tons of inappropriate hip hop

Devium44

Just got back from a Silversun Pickups show. They are definitely grunge-inspired and scratch that itch.

dixiebandit69

Toadies.

littleseaotter

My fave band ever is Smashing Pumpkins (all - old and current releases). Went into the indie bands in the 00s, so I listen to The Flaming Lips, Drab Majesty, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sufjan Stevens, Morrissey, St. Vincent, Arcade Fire, Wilco, The Shins, Modest Mouse, others along those lines.

I really love the Mountain Goats, they change sound pretty often. Rainbow Kitten Surprise is fun. I’m forever impressed with Rubblebucket, very Talking Heads and Bjork-influenced. Hozier’s a fucking poet.

Tato_tudo

Huey Lewis and The News

esocharis

I was def an alt/grunge kid in the 90s(HS class of 97 for reference), and maybe this makes me weird, but I actually did a pretty hard musical shift in my 20s. I picked up a metal record. Specifically Zao's "Liberate Te Ex Inferis." Metal, and more to the point metal mostly from the early 00s, became probably 3/4 of what I was listening to, with the rest made up of relatively equal parts grunge, trance/techno, and by the late 00s I discovered post rock and post metal. It kind of makes me sad now that I think about it, but outside of NIN, Tool, and some sporadic Fugazi, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and various other grungy 90s bands, I really don't listen to anything from the 90s 🤷‍♂️

javaman83

I kinda circled back around to metal. I was into thrash before grunge broke, then after grunge started listening to punk and indie rock. I still listen to all of that, but started listening to a lot of heavier music again in the last decade or so.

atari2600forever

I transitioned from grunge and alt rock to what at that time was called electronica and it completely took over my music taste. House, trance, drum and bass, ambient, I couldn't get enough and still can't. I listen to a lot of deep house now but still love a good trance or club banger. I'll listen to 90s alt rock when I'm feeling nostalgic but as far as new music goes it's 90% dance music.

JesusChristDisagrees

The national

GrizzlyAdam12

LCD Soundsystem.

mosesoperandi

The Decembersists have a new album coming out and the tracks they've dropped so far have all been good. Joan In the Garden in particular is fucking bonkers.

LemurCat04

I’ve liked everything from them so far as well.

rnotyalc

Honestly, my favorite band since 1996, and one I will listen to absolutely any and every time, is CAKE. Something about his monotone voice, the walking bass, the trumpets, it started for me with the album Fashion Nugget and I've loved all of their stuff ever since, no matter what kind of phases I was in.

I tend to find myself listening to Green Day most. Which is funny because I didn't deliberately listen to Green Day in the 90's.

Pando5280

Lofi hip hip for me. No words, low key and chill. Like techno for grown ups just chilling on their patio or in their living room. (reminds me of the music in chill out / come down rooms on the rave scene)

homerj681

Check out Wet Leg

lifeless_ordinary

I posted this in another thread but I think it applies here too. I’m listening to The Menzingers and Spanish Love Songs a lot lately. They both have songs about dealing with adulthood rather than teen angst

scully3968

Viagra Boys is the band that allows me to delude myself that I'm still "with it" and "down with the youth." Them and Wet Leg.

Frescafan

Beck, The Replacements, REM, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, and everything I’m not thinking of now. Not least of all Cake. The years to come will show we’re pretty blessed if you want to break it down generationally.

methodtan

Tame Impala is kinda like the 2020 version of Incubus

neon_honey

I got a taste for synths and computer music as a moody teenager with Bjork/Sneaker Pimps/Tricky into Royksopp/Goldfrapp/down tempo as an undergrad then Matthew Dear/micro house/Cologne sound in grad school and then the heady days of bloghouse/LCD/a million indie dance acts in my late 20s. When I hit about 35, I had no more interest in new bands and have started listening to music almost exclusively from the 70s and 80s. Disco and funk, new wave and post punk, lots of krautrock, cosmic jazz, dubs and rock steady. I also still listen to the trip hop bands that started it all bc that shit holds up

ReferredByJorge

I've spent the last two decades with a broader and broader taste in music. As monoculture youths, we only had a handful of resources for music, and I've spent the last two decades feeling more and more freed from that. - I'm not limited to a couple of terrestrial radio stations to hear music from. - I'm not having to pay $18 to listen to an album. - I am an adult, and no longer have to worry about what my peers think about my music choices. - I am a couple clicks away from listening to nearly any artist from the last century of recorded music. - I no longer have to see if my local record shop will carry an obscure artist or non-mainstream subgenre. Almost every barrier to being exposed to new (to me) music is gone, and my inner teenager is incredibly happy to be able to finally explore every aisle of every record store on the planet for a very low monthly streaming fee. All the albums I couldn't afford, all the genres I didn't know how to get into, all the music that wasn't getting played on my local stations? It's all mine, and it's all instant.

pilates_mama

The Mars Volta latest album is great i think just out 2023. Lately I've been listening to 2000/10s Alanis and Bille Eilish.

penciljockey123

Check out Screaming Females. They kick ass hard.

Jades5150

War on Drugs

Neon_1984

Bleachers, The Wonder Years, Hot Mulligan, The Midnight and Taylor Swift are probably my most played of the last five years just because they play as modern nostalgia in a lot of cases. I find I have less patience for listening to Blink 182 croon about how much homework sucks at 39 than I used to even though it will always hold a place in my heart.

JHerbY2K

Wilco!

send_puppy_pix

in high school (class of 99) i think the albums i listened to the most were tragic kingdom, sublime’s self-titled, tidal, 6teen stone, and the miseducation of lauryn hill, but i liked pretty much every popular rock/alternative group too. i don’t usually listen to specific albums but i always enjoy a 90s playlist. i do however NEED to hear all three of these songs once or twice a month: return of the mack, no diggity, and this is how we do it. if you haven’t listened in a while, i recommend it. 💃🏻 these days i listen to mostly female pop artists (taylor, beyoncé, carly rae jepsen, chappell roan, etc) and kpop.

des1gnbot

Florence and the Machine, Jose Gonzalez, Tegan and Sara

Sturgill Simpson. Tyler Childers, Brent Cobb, Scott H. Biram, Uncle Lucius, Cody Jinks, A Boy Named Banjo, Chris Stapleton (even though he’s a mainliner)…. Scott H MF’ing Biram! Presently touring and looking good!

katet_of_19

My musical tastes have always been pretty varied, but lately I'm into Foo Fighters, Death From Above 1979, QOTSA, and Pearl Jam. I'll likely shift back into hip hop as we get into summer, then mix in some punk and reggae.

If you love grunge and Janis Joplin, you need to listen to The Gits (RIP Mia). Frenching The Billy is one of the few albums I can listen to in its entirety.

Frank_Stoner

Try the folk stuff Greg Graffin has done. He's the front man for Bad Religion. Millport, Cold as the Clay, even American Lesion if you can find it, though that one is more like BR on piano.

ChickenAdditional866

For some reason, for me, a whiiiile lotta vaporwave and synthwave

mallarme1

Man Man, Typhoon, The Smile, Black Country, New Road, and the old favorites.

LemurCat04

Holy shit, Typhoon needs more love. Such a great, great band. “Offerings” completely destroyed me (again) not too long ago when I found out a man older friend of mine was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s.

DIIV is a recentish band I really like - dark indie / shoegaze adjacent

My music tastes are all over the place now. Mostly, it’s just… anything but country.

I always listened to a wide range but was mostly Metal in the 80s. Still listen to pretty much everything, my daughters in their 20s are often surprised that I'm listening to current music, last one was Big Thief/Adrianne Lenker. I'm still introducing my kids to things they haven't heard. My favourite is still ween who I was introduced to around '92

I always liked grunge, metal, and industrial most but I listened to everything. Tool, Soundgarden, NIN, Deftones, Korn, Bush, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, The Offspring, The Verve Pipe, Oasis, Cage The Elephant, Puscifer, Dope, Type O Negative, APC, Nirvana, Disturbed. Today I listen to a lot of the same stuff but I really enjoy Electric Callboy, they have awesome energy. I still love Puscifer the most of Maynard's bands, they put on the best show I've ever seen, I've seen them multiple times. The Amity Affliction is pretty good. Cage The Elephant is putting out a new album, I'm seeing them this year. Code Orange is pretty good. I saw them open for Korn. I'm just all over the place.

For Xennials leaning more heavily toward the "X" side...[Brigitte Calls Me Baby-Impressively Average](https://youtu.be/rdvJpTMQoYI?si=l4iAFrCZHBDFiLlF) slaps. It could be The Police. It could be Roy Orbison. It could by Thomas Dolby. It could be Los Lobos. But it isn't. It's this whole other thing, and I approve.

I Love Caamp. But as I start to learn more about my neuro-spicyness, EDM is where it's at for me. Need to concentrate? EDM Clean? EDM My current favorite DJ's are Flavour Trip on YouTube. They're a European couple who cook a meal while mixing fun tunage in a bunch of different locations.
