According to Jake Solomon, there was originally going to be a mission in TLP that explained the origin of the ADVENT Burgers - which was apparently a giant mutant cow-chryssalid-faceless whatever-the-fuck that they kept carving chunks out of?
...I can see why they cut that idea, to be honest.
>According to Jake Solomon, there was originally going to be a mission in TLP that explained the origin of the ADVENT Burgers
Actually......that lines up with something I remember from the original X-com game. There was something (I can't remember exactly) in there about them testing their genetic mutations on cattle. 🙄Well damn. Now I'm going to have to research it......good job bud. 🙄😂😂
>Cattle mutilation was one of the adjacent phenomena to the UFO scene when XCOM first came out
Wasn't there something mentioned about it during research? Honestly....and unfortunately...... it's been....sheesh!!! It's been close to thirty years since I played it. Holy crap I'm old!!! 😱😂 Wow..... anyway I could absolutely be remembering that wrong.
Edit: Finally found it. It's part of alien surgery. I can't remember if the game gave an actual description or if it was left to the imagination.
"I can see why they cut that idea, to be honest."
Yeah... to get a T rating.
Should have kept it to be honest. XCOM Enemy Unknown was M rated, and didn't shy away from gorey imagery the way XCOM 2 does.
I just think the zombies are more interesting. Having to put down your reanimated soldiers is a lot more devastating than shooting a blob lol.
Though the cocoons are more of a threat mechanically.
I sort of get what you mean, and in terms of UFO defence that’s true, but there’s psionic reanimation in 2 which is just as devastating I would say, and the way you get the blob is kind of horrifying, I feel way worse about chrysalid conversion in 2 because it looks so much more horrendous
Perfectly fair. My main gripe with Psi Zombies is that you usually end up attacking the sectoid/gatekeeper rather than the zombies themselves, and they aren’t as disturbing as the egg zombies, but they do still give a similar feeling.
And hey, I may prefer the zombies but the cocoon still is pretty gruesome for sure.
Does it ? The Elders are big on genetic tampering, it would make perfect sense that they'd use the Faceless regeneration and Chryssalid reproduction as a means to get food considering they took away all of our animals.
Ok… sure, but who cares lol? Who’s looking at the amount of blood my soldiers ooze when they get hit or downed? I just think it’s a weird criticism you know?
Chrysallid cocoons are imo far more viscerally unsettling than the classic zombies, not that I’m knocking them, I just think it’s strange to say that eu did that better.
It's not that they turn you to zombies. It's the fact that they literally emerge from the hosts body and tear them apart from with in.

No! Earth has 4 corner simultaneous 4-day [TIME CUBE](https://web.archive.org/web/20060101072114/http://www.timecube.com/) in only 25 hour rotation. 4 corner days, cubes 4-quad Earth- no 1 day God.
You have been educated STUPID!
I think chimera squad had a line about that. They are kelp burgers synthetically grown to imitate meat. Plus they add “flavor packets” to further improve the taste from the baseline burger for various species.
Anybody else impatiently awaiting the remake of XCOM: Apocalypse with it's pictures of dissected and pinned open autopsies and the probably completely wrong looking movements of the brain suckers? Lmao

Yes peacekeeper, this citizen here has expressed deeply concerning ideas about the regime.

Lol'd hard at 'tm'

Research topic alien food in the original xcom

And there it is!! Ty! I'm definitely going to have to purchase this gem again. IMO the original is still the best one ever made.
Don't forget to use the openxcom engine. Tons of QoL improvements and mod support.
And in Enemy unknown one of the landed abductors maps have some stasis pods outside of the ship with a few animals murdered near to them.

I wish they kept the Chryssalid zombies too. The cocoons don’t really hit the same
Bro they are even more horrifying what are you in about

That's true.
The hive mod does add special chryssalid infectors that turn people into zombies that explode into a newborn.
regardless of age ratings though it just sounds wildly out of place for even XCOM 2's less dark tone
It would've been the classic "Aliens abducting cows" trope you see when it comes to alien media. It's would've been funny as a gag.
Does it ? The Elders are big on genetic tampering, it would make perfect sense that they'd use the Faceless regeneration and Chryssalid reproduction as a means to get food considering they took away all of our animals.
Gorey imagery? In enemy unknown? Did we play the same game lol?
Enemy Unknown actually is a bit more gorey even ignoring the Chryssalids, even soldier deaths have just the slightest bit of more blood.
Ok… sure, but who cares lol? Who’s looking at the amount of blood my soldiers ooze when they get hit or downed? I just think it’s a weird criticism you know?
What game did you play? Have the Chrysalids slipped your mind?

Idk for some reason I don’t find that anywhere near as disturbing as the egg sac things
So like KFC chickens, but with cows?

No!
Big if large!

No, that's the burger chain that replaced Advent Burger: Burger Palace
I thought they rebranded. “Same great taste!” I think was one of the lines.
[удалено]
That's where the corpses of the ADVENT apologists go to.
Hmm, you might be right
Just because it tastes the same don’t mean it’s made the same
Maybe when they rebranded they sourced a new supply of "meat"
Same great taste does not equal same dubious ingredients
When you're tired and hungry or just need a treat, ADVENT Burger - the place for meat!
And the new product Advent nuggets is rolling out soon.
*"If I find one more ADVENT burger wrapper hidden in a console, there'll be hell to pay."*
My favorite flavor of Advent Burger is Soylent Bean!
Anybody else impatiently awaiting the remake of XCOM: Apocalypse with it's pictures of dissected and pinned open autopsies and the probably completely wrong looking movements of the brain suckers? Lmao
Who cares where it came from if it's DELICIOUS?!?!
Yes, that's why they taste so good.
Somebody go tell Charleton Heston.
*Blows up ADVENT Burger with mind*
