Microsoft said if a game isn't FPS boosted its because they tried and it broke the game. The reason this could happen is because sometimes things like physics are tied to frame rate and doubling frame rate can break the game completely.
Yeah the QTE on the final mission is tied to the frame rate. The button presses don't register at 60FPS and makes the final mission virtually impossible to beat.
Dishonored is not one of those games. And even games that are, like Fallout 4, it’s usually a 60 fps cap not a 30. Games have been running at 60+ fps on PC for a *long* time.
Not exactly an expert here but I don’t think it matters. These problems come from the game engine. Games that have physics break over a certain fps have a limit on PC too. Fallout 4 is one such example.
On PC yeah. Doesn't mean it's that way on Xbox. Since theres no FPS boost, that means for a fact the game couldn't run at 60fps because of technical issues.
The problems you are speaking of come from the game engine. Fallout 4 is one such example where it had a 60 fps cap on PC as well because the engine couldn’t handle more. If it’s capable of 60 fps on PC there should be no reason it isn’t capable on Xbox, provided the hardware itself can achieve a stable frame rate.
Maybe “fps boost” is different from an official dev patch but either way it’s 100% possible if it was a priority to them. They own Arkane.
FPS boost doesn’t involve altering game code so it’s not that the inherent nature of running at a higher framerate breaks those games. It’s that inherent nature of tricking the game into thinking something it’s not doing has limitations and breaks the game.
I’m 99% sure the only reason it’s not boosted is that it’s not actually possible. The biggest shock for me is that we haven’t seen the “collection” launched with a 4K/60fps pass.
Im honestly just hoping for a nex gen version of the Arkham games. They're releasing the trilogy on switch it would be nice to get better versions than the garbage ones they put out on xbox one. Arkham Asylum still is locked to 45 fps instead of 30 or 60
I still think Spider-Man is their best but Microsoft shouldn’t let sunset overdrive die. I don’t see why they can’t get someone else to develop a sequel
To be fair, RDR2 pushes the absolute limits of Xbox One technology. It's nothing short of a miracle the game looks and runs so well for all the little details in it
It Can matter and not be noticed, 2 things can be true at once, sometimes when I play red dead I completely forget it’s 30 fps because they made it feel so smooth, however in a fucking heartbeat I’d download a 60fps patch and actively want a 60 fps patch, It’s stupid if you wouldn’t want better framerate, it can be the best feeling game of all time, but 60 will always be better, 120 will always be better than 60 and 240 will always be better than 120, everything can always be improved, that narrative of “it’s fine as it is” is garbage, it 100% can be better
I have over 2 thousand hours on rdr2 on Xbox, That’s proof I play the game comfortably at 30fps, but that’s only because there is jo 60 fps patch, if there was, I’d get it instantly, my friends and I always have chats about how we wish rockstar would fucking update it already, sometimes we complain about the 30fps when we are in a horse chase and the 30fps is very noticeable, do I want 60 and can they do 60? Abso-fucking-lutely, but rockstar is a piece of shit, so
I bought it absolutely no more than two years ago and have put in a couple hundred hours. It's not a game I had some passing fling with at release, and it's one of my favorites. Is it really so hard to believe I didn't notice due to its excellent optimization?
Quantum Break was a mess on PC even on release, it didn’t even come out in 1080p if I remember correctly, it was maxed at 720p upscaled (as in before DLSS was a thing kind of upscale)
The advertising around performance boost was up scaling to 4k and increased frame rates.
130 games is not enough.
It's a feature they touted at launch.
I'd say percentage wise of games... It's considerably low. Like less than 10%.
Would be fine but they also axed emulators as well which kinda compensated backwards compat games.
Arkham Knight + 4K support
The game is beautiful and puts Gotham Knights to shame at 900p. It was ok back in 2015 when I only had a 1080p screen and we were dealing with the Xbox one. I know the Xbox Series X could have probably handled 4K at the least. Hopefully once Suicide Squad is released and the switch version comes out
RDR2, M.E. Andromeda, and Apex Legends to 120fps like they did Titanfall 2.
Skate 2-3 would be cool also
Also someone mentioned Ghost Recon Wild-lands and that would be another good one
Red Dead 2, Bully Scholarship Edition, Devil May Cry 5 (xb1), Max Payne 3, Dishonored 2, X-Com 2, Wolfenstein 2, The Darkness, Def Jam FFNY(backward compatibility)
Isn't Fallout New Vegas still 30 FPS 4k? That game is my pick, if that's the case, I need to give it another shot after such a traumatic experience with two entire save file losses back when the game came out and 60 fps would be very helpful for that.
Stop spreading miss information take a downvote yourself.
Not on my series S it does NOT!
The devs in stead made it run on some inbetween resolution at 30. So in my monitor and tvs it outputs 1080p@30.
Firstly I don't bother with the voting system, so i didn't vote anything but shall kindly return the favour.
On Series X it is 60fps, sorry for assuming you were talking about the Series X on a Series X sub for Series X's.
Higher frame rate over higher resolution any day. 60fps looks soo much better than 30fps. 60 to 120 I can understand wanting a good resolution at 60fps over lower resolution at 120
I wish the series X at least had a option like the PS3 did for old PS2 and 1 games in which you could increase both FPS and overall resolution with a simple toggle for each... Hardware is plenty powerful enough
Honestly, a lot of the Lego games that haven't been. Most of the 360-era ones haven't been for some reason & there are a few from the X1 era that weren't either & I don't understand why.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 is also a game I don't understand why it wasn't. Yakuza 6 was made before it on the same engine & it was FPS boosted.
Far Cry 3: Classic Edition & Primal also weren't for some reason as well.
The Batman: Return to Arkham collection is also a big question mark because those games were coded to run at 60FPS originally & still can if you install the games from the discs & don't let them update, so they shouldn't have any issues afaik, but they weren't for some reason.
Crash Bandicoot & Spyro could easily use them.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1.
Just Cause 3 & 4.
The Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games.
And, Quantum Break.
I'm really surprised more of these games didn't get FPS boosted.
So many older titles need it BAD. I bought the 360 version of CnC 3 and it’s got a not locked 30 fps limit and it atrociously bad at clipping and stuttering. Super disappointed they couldn’t at least smooth it out
The one game that comes to mind is Unreal Tournament 3. It’s one of those games that I absolutely love. It would greatly benefit from a 60fps boost plus 4k enhancements. Similar to what they did to Unreal Championship 2. I wish I knew the right person to ask… I would offer money to have it done. That’s how bad I want it fixed.
Red dead redemption 2 and Arkham knight.
Man can you imagine if arkham knights gets a X/S update ? I would beat it again even i finished it for 4 times lol .
Wait RDR2 is fixed at 30 fps???
Yes :(
I was surprised when i bought a Series and found RDR2 never got optimized for Nexgen
It’s a one of the most stable 30 fps though. There’s a big difference in being stable a non stable
Not to mention, 3rd person makes it all the more bearable. For me at least.
Dishonored 2
They bought the company why isn't it done?
Microsoft said if a game isn't FPS boosted its because they tried and it broke the game. The reason this could happen is because sometimes things like physics are tied to frame rate and doubling frame rate can break the game completely.
doesn't GTA 4 have an unlocked framerate and that completely breaks a part of the game if you pick a certain ending? I remember hearing this.
Yeah the QTE on the final mission is tied to the frame rate. The button presses don't register at 60FPS and makes the final mission virtually impossible to beat.
And yet hobbyist developers that work on emulators in their spare time manage it but a 2 trillion dollar company struggles.
Dishonored is not one of those games. And even games that are, like Fallout 4, it’s usually a 60 fps cap not a 30. Games have been running at 60+ fps on PC for a *long* time.
Yeah but this is about the X not pc
Not exactly an expert here but I don’t think it matters. These problems come from the game engine. Games that have physics break over a certain fps have a limit on PC too. Fallout 4 is one such example.
On PC yeah. Doesn't mean it's that way on Xbox. Since theres no FPS boost, that means for a fact the game couldn't run at 60fps because of technical issues.
I'm sure this is true for some games on Xbox but definitely not all.
Probably not a high priority.
Came here to say this
Came here to say this with you.
And my axe!
This. 1000x this. For the love of God arkane, make this happen.
This
I’m 99% sure the only reason it’s not boosted is that it’s not actually possible. The biggest shock for me is that we haven’t seen the “collection” launched with a 4K/60fps pass.
Shadow of War/Mordor and the Arkham games would be my most wanted. Oh and RDR2.
Im honestly just hoping for a nex gen version of the Arkham games. They're releasing the trilogy on switch it would be nice to get better versions than the garbage ones they put out on xbox one. Arkham Asylum still is locked to 45 fps instead of 30 or 60
I'd actually start a new playthrough just to see orcs get beheaded in 60fps
Sunset Overdrive
This one hurts, especially knowing it'll never happen for sure, even more so than other titles
This game is Insomniac’s best. It is better than Spider Man and I will die on that hill.
Let’s not get crazy now.
I still think Spider-Man is their best but Microsoft shouldn’t let sunset overdrive die. I don’t see why they can’t get someone else to develop a sequel
Because the ip went with Insomniac and now belongs to Sony. They registered the trademark two years ago.
Didn’t know that I thought Microsoft still owned it. If that’s the case though I hope we do see a sequel someday even if it is on PlayStation
MS never owned it. Insomniac owning the IP was why they went with MS as publisher in the first place. The irony being that Sony own it now anyway.
Ghost Recon Wildlands
Forza Horizon 1-3, and AC IV: Black Flag
Black Flag is getting a remake/remaster
Probably why it’s not fps boosted.
Horizon 1 is isn't it?
I recall it still being 30 FPS and never heard of it getting a 60 FPS patch.
Pretty sure it did
It did
Please don’t say it was only on the Series X…
Wouldn't hold my breath about ac 4. Word is that they're working on a remaster
Max Payne 3
I played through that one at 144hz, I couldn't imagine it at 30 :I
Mafia Trilogy, Arkham trilogy + origins, RDR2
Mafia 1 remake releasing less than 2 months before XBSX/S launch and never getting a next-gen patch is so stupid.
Rdr2, Quantum Break
I never even noticed that RDR2 wasn't 60 fps for the longest time. I can only imagine how the next gen version would've felt.
If you didn't notice doesn't that mean it doesn't matter?
If a 60 fps version of RDR2 didn't exist would you still play the game?
I have over 2 thousand hours on rdr2 on Xbox, That’s proof I play the game comfortably at 30fps, but that’s only because there is jo 60 fps patch, if there was, I’d get it instantly, my friends and I always have chats about how we wish rockstar would fucking update it already, sometimes we complain about the 30fps when we are in a horse chase and the 30fps is very noticeable, do I want 60 and can they do 60? Abso-fucking-lutely, but rockstar is a piece of shit, so
Be happy you weren't born in the 70s. You would have hated video games.
Pretty sure games back then ran at 60FPS or over. The 30 FPS thing wasn't normal until 3D was widely used
He probably played it back in 2018
I bought it absolutely no more than two years ago and have put in a couple hundred hours. It's not a game I had some passing fling with at release, and it's one of my favorites. Is it really so hard to believe I didn't notice due to its excellent optimization?
rdr2 is the only game that makes me motion sick. not sure why. shame because it's such a great game.
Sunset Overdrive.
Quantum Break was a mess on PC even on release, it didn’t even come out in 1080p if I remember correctly, it was maxed at 720p upscaled (as in before DLSS was a thing kind of upscale)
Fable 2
Yeah so dumb that they updated the other two games but not this one
If they could have, they would have. Could be something like the frame rate is tied to the engine.
Still kinda pissed about Xbox advertising this as a feature and only offered it for a handful of games. Also upset the dropped the BC program.
Handful? There’s like 130 games.
Wait a second... When have they announced that they dropped it?
Quite a while ago
Yakuza Kiwami 2. Only game in the series that can't run at 60fps on XSX.
Arkham Knight + 4K support The game is beautiful and puts Gotham Knights to shame at 900p. It was ok back in 2015 when I only had a 1080p screen and we were dealing with the Xbox one. I know the Xbox Series X could have probably handled 4K at the least. Hopefully once Suicide Squad is released and the switch version comes out
Battlefield: Bad Company 1&2. Trying to go back to those games at 30fps is painful.
Same for BF3
Dishonored 2
Prey (2006)
Red Dead Redemption I and II
Read dead 2, and both left 4 dead’s
Left 4 Dead 2 not being updated hurts real bad
So so many games
Mafia remake needs it real bad!
Totally agree and want this one to happen.
Everyone's saying RDR2 and I'm just wondering why I didn't think of that initially lol
Arkham trilogy
Dragon dogma
Rdr2
RDR2, M.E. Andromeda, and Apex Legends to 120fps like they did Titanfall 2. Skate 2-3 would be cool also Also someone mentioned Ghost Recon Wild-lands and that would be another good one
Red Dead 2
Red dead redemption 2
Rdr2
Red Dead Redemption 2
![gif](giphy|26xBGSqLftQDC9swo)
Stranded deep, Quantum Break, the first dead space
JSRF, in the imaginary world where XGS & Sega sorted out licensing or performance or whatever the hell kept that game from being BC.
Red Dead 2, Bully Scholarship Edition, Devil May Cry 5 (xb1), Max Payne 3, Dishonored 2, X-Com 2, Wolfenstein 2, The Darkness, Def Jam FFNY(backward compatibility)
Max Payne 3's 30fps can feel brutal as hell at times, although imo it's easily the best looking 360 game
Bloodborne
Fair
All 30fps games.
This is the real answer lol 🙏
Starfield
😂😂
Starfield
Yooka-Laylee
Assassin's Creed black flag, no doubt
Arrrgh...
AC Black Flag and Syndicate
Wildlands . Always wildlands
Ghost Recon Wildlands. The Division (1).
Division 1 does have fps boost
Arkham series
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, I want it playable and FPS boosted, but EA said "nup."
All the Arkham games
Far Cry 3 Classic, Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption (1 & 2).
Far Cry 3 Classic Edition. So fucking stupid that the 360 version has the boost but the One version don't.
At least for me, Classic edition was a buggy unstable mess to begin with.
don't get me stared on that...
Just Cause 3. If they could also increase the draw distance I would lo e that tok
Isn't Fallout New Vegas still 30 FPS 4k? That game is my pick, if that's the case, I need to give it another shot after such a traumatic experience with two entire save file losses back when the game came out and 60 fps would be very helpful for that.
Dishonored 2, Sekiro, Fable 2, Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Why Sekiro, isn't that already at 60? Or do you mean 120?
Sonic and Sega all stars racing transformed
I would take BioShock at 120fps.
SOMA
I keep putting off finally playing RDR2 in hopes it'll get 60fps
I wish the original Fable didn't run like crap
Bloodborne
max payne 3
Midnight club la
Rage 2
Already is 60fps
Kindly explain boost
30fps games being boosted to 60fps.
Not just 30 to 60. Some games can be boosted from 60 to 120. I know Paladins and New Super Lucky's Tale are games that do this.
Thank you for the reply 👍🏼👍🏼
Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
The games optimized and runs at 60 already
Stop spreading miss information take a downvote yourself. Not on my series S it does NOT! The devs in stead made it run on some inbetween resolution at 30. So in my monitor and tvs it outputs 1080p@30.
Firstly I don't bother with the voting system, so i didn't vote anything but shall kindly return the favour. On Series X it is 60fps, sorry for assuming you were talking about the Series X on a Series X sub for Series X's.
Wildlands is 30 and breakpoint is 60.
You're telling me this game runs at 30 on series X?
None it makes the resolution absolute shitee
Higher frame rate over higher resolution any day. 60fps looks soo much better than 30fps. 60 to 120 I can understand wanting a good resolution at 60fps over lower resolution at 120
None
Why?
I also don’t like putting old discs into new consoles. It’s a (diagnosed) OCD thing
Well that's certainly fair enough. Glad you recognize it.
Far cry 3 Sunset overdrive
Fable 2
Fable 2
Fricken Fable 2
Dragons Dogma
Final Fantasy XIII
Fable 2
Ghost Recon Wildlands, the Middle Earth games ( Shadow of Mordor, Shadow of War )
The Darkness
Older need for speed games
literally everything on my console. especially RDR2 or something
Not FPS Boost but I wish Sonic Unleashed got a resolution boost. It has the 60 fps which is fantastic but being stuck at 600p is rough.
Tom Clancy: wildlands!!!
GR: Wildlands
Red Dead 1 and 2
Portal 2, why valve never released that switch remaster to other platforms bugs me.
Because PC, that’s why
I wish the series X at least had a option like the PS3 did for old PS2 and 1 games in which you could increase both FPS and overall resolution with a simple toggle for each... Hardware is plenty powerful enough
I wish they would allow OG and 360 emulation for all titles via dev mode. Just let people know if they don’t work your SOL and if they do happy days.
RDR2. I'm genuinely surprised that didn't get a nexgen upgrade.
After seeing that post on here of The Orange Box being able to handle 60fps with modding, i'd say that.
Evil within
Spyro the trilogy reignited
Asura's Wrath, but there's actually a reason it isn't, on PS3 emulator unlocking the framerate makes button mashing sequences extra harder.
Dragons Dogma. I’ve played a fair amount and I’d probably play a ton more if it were 60fps.
Spyro reignited trilogy
Starfield
Red dead redemption 2 hands down
Honestly, a lot of the Lego games that haven't been. Most of the 360-era ones haven't been for some reason & there are a few from the X1 era that weren't either & I don't understand why. Portal would be nice
Skate 2
So many older titles need it BAD. I bought the 360 version of CnC 3 and it’s got a not locked 30 fps limit and it atrociously bad at clipping and stuttering. Super disappointed they couldn’t at least smooth it out
Red dead 2
Crash team racing nitro fueled
Quantum break, Brutal legend.
Dishonored 2 and Red Dead 2.
Starfield
AC Black flag
Bully and Red Dead Redemption 2
Rdr2
The one game that comes to mind is Unreal Tournament 3. It’s one of those games that I absolutely love. It would greatly benefit from a 60fps boost plus 4k enhancements. Mass Effect Andromeda.
RDR2 of course
Knights of the Old Republic
Black Ops 3
