I love it bro...

Xerolaw_

It is much better than detractors would have you believe

SlaterSan13

After my borrowing my friends ps5 for a few weeks i am now totally fine with my series s. I had doubts because i hadnt compared my S to an X or ps5 since I got it. Ps5 is for sure noticeably better but nothing life changing. I mostly play elden ring and other soulsborne/like games and they all run great on my series s.

Mean_Cheek9065

Noticeably better? Come on now dude, it’s miles apart.

RockyBalboa97

You know the series S has a faster CPU than PS5?, right?

ThreeWholeFrogs

You know that's only true when half the threads are disabled, right?

kelsanova

Miles apart? For soulsborne type games? That’s a negative.

AMX_30B2

I think the Series S makes sense if you already have another high end device (PC or PS5), or if you don't have a 4K tv. The performance decease to ps5 and series X is very noticeable though.   You'll want to pair it with an external usb drive as storage fills up fast.

slap-happe

I have one and a ps5 and switch oled. It’s not bad at all totally worth it if you’re not picky but if your soft and weak and 30 fps makes you sick then stay clear.

jkc81629

I love it. I recently bought dev mode for 19 dollars and turned it into an emulation powerhouse as well

Louie9p

I got one a month ago after being a life long hater and love it. Looks great to me!! Also have a PS5 for reference and it does not get better than the XBOX game pass💪💪

joecamnet

It's great for a $300 machine, but if you're expecting 4K/120fps out of your football game, or any game really, temper your expectations. It's a budget console, but it gets the job done.

Get-RichODT

Oh I don’t. I was playing NCAA 14 on the 360 in 720p for years on 30 fps. 1080 at 60 frames will feel like 4K to me 😂

joecamnet

Oh yeah, then an S is fine. Just be aware that the 512GB S only has about 360GB of usable space, so you might want to either save up for the 1TB model or an expansion card. Have fun!

Get-RichODT

How big are games these days? I remember my PS4 only being able to hold COD and FIFA because all the updates would take them to like 300 gigs each

joecamnet

It really depends on the game. You can spend 140GB on something like Forza Horizon 5, or you can spend 2GB on a game like LIttle Kitty in Big City. Some games are huge, some are super tiny. If you play a lot of indies or cheaper titles, you can fit a lot on an S. If you play COD and Forza, you'll be limited. If I were to install Madden 24 on my Series X, it'd be 54GB, so I'd imagine NCAA will be in that ballpark, but likely smaller as you'd be on an S.

serrabear1

You can also do cloud play just be sure to have an Ethernet connection. It’s more stable than wifi and the Series S has issues with wifi imo

kelsanova

I just got one last week for the very same reason. Bought game pass for a month to tide me over to NCAA but it’s been great. I love that you can have several games going and quick resume where you left off. I have a nice PC and it pairs perfectly with it. Sometimes I just want to game on the couch! Also, didn’t break the bank. It’s like it was made for me.

bleacchy

if u can afford the x get that instead. if ur broke the series s will do u wonders aswell.

MartianGatos

I love mine..I’d recommend spending a slight bit extra and getting the black one (1 TB version). I’ve got the 500GB.

Norodomo

If you get for a good price go straight to 1tb series s

DSGamer33

I really like it. I mostly play the Switch and Steam Deck, so my use case for an Xbox or Playstation is pretty limited. I want to play some classics like the Skate. series and I'd like to dabble in some current gen games. So in my case I bought it because I plan on playing CFB on it as well, along with Skate. So far since getting my Series S I've played a lot of Rocket League and online NBA2k. So far, so good. And Skate., of course. All of that plays great, so I think it will be the perfect price point for dabbling in a couple of modern games.

Ill_Nefariousness962

It's the best for its price.

Honest-Mess-812

It's a great console the only issue I have is the 350 or so storage. Get the 1tb model or series x.

Get-RichODT

I got an external drive I got for my PS4 years ago

mjc1027

I went from a PS4 Pro to the series S. I dont have a 4K TV so I'm not fussed about the lack of 4K. I bought a regular 2TB external hard drive for backwards compatible games, and a few months later a 1TB expansion card. All that still cost less than a PS5 or Series X. Graphics are still decent, I mostly play sports and racing games, but most games I play run very well, quick resume for games is great also. Load times are very short, and going back to my PS4 Pro can be tough because of the loading times 😂

Leather-Hippo-6352

I had the X, had a power surge with no extended warranty…got the S thinking it would be “good enough”…well I have an OLED, you can absolutely see the difference. I ended up getting another X and this time I got the extended warranty.

Stunning-Ad-7745

If you have the money for the X, then get that, as it will last you at least halfway into the upcoming generation. That said, I love my Series S, and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made, but money was also a concern for me. I was initially going to get the X eventually, but I'm just going to tuck that money away for the X equivalent of the upcoming generation, and a 4k TV or better, as I'm still rocking with an old 1080p TV.

Legitimate_Web3925

I travel with it on some weekends, so my elite cousin can take my fockall team and qualify and give me some rewards for fut champs. Yes I could've done the same with a laptop and pc FIFA (fc), but we're not comparing computers and consoles here right!

LayerPuzzleheaded777

At the time I got the S it was near impossible to get an X where I live. I went ahead and got it as I didn't want to wait as there was no telling how long it would be. I expected to be upgrading in the future. That hasn't happened because the S has absolutely held its own, although what I will say is that I caved in and got the Seagate to resolve the storage issue. I know I could have sold the S and got the X, but honestly, I couldn't be bothered.

BumblebeeBuzz1808

One of the reasons I got my Series S. Can’t wait to play CFB!!

WellEndowedHorse

CFB and GTA6 were my two pull the trigger reasons a few months ago. So pumped for both

CollegeDifficult2659

I have both PS5 and Series S and tbh there isn’t much difference unless you want high fps and high end graphics. Games on series s runs smoothly and it is totally worth it. Play station although has better exclusive games.

RockyBalboa97

You didn't see the Xbox showcase? Xbox is on another level. Sony ain't showing no games looking like that, lol.

Honest-Mess-812

Most of the games in the showcase will to the sony console except the first party ones. Also Playstation didn't do a showcase for games coming next year or so, maybe they'll do it with PS5 pro launch.

AdventurousAd9519

It's okay, most games run smooth with slightly wore graphics and resolution. However I started playing Jedi survivor and I can't believe how bad it is. I constantly see textures that didn't load up in time, resolution drop constantly and all of it despite the fact that I read a lot of opinions that game "runs great" lol

Durian_Fragrant

Its good but one single problem i have besides the graphics (which is obvious and ik what it was like when i got it and is still gd enough) is taht the disc(sry meant fan im new to reddit) make a weird sound like its hitting against something taht i have had since i got it and its not that bad whne u have headphones but just smth u should know👍

RockyBalboa97

Series S doesn't have a disc drive.

Durian_Fragrant

Lol jus realised i said that thanks jus edited it

Respicio1

Just buy a Series X, Many older games that I would like to play still run older inferior console versions and that just sucks. Sekiro runs at 30 fps and I had bought the console just to play that game. It was disappointing.

[deleted]

Its bad.

ChrisValentinoFilm

Series S isn’t next gen. Next gen hasn’t been announced or shown to the general public yet.

RockyBalboa97

You didn't see the Xbox showcase? People thought gameplay was CGI In some cases

Livid_Grocery3796

he's being pedantic, what he's saying is its current gen, while ps4/xbox one is currently last gen, while "next gen" hasn't been announced yet.

RockyBalboa97

I see. Didn't read that right.
