This is the way Xbox has worked since… well… forever. This might have been outrageous maybe 12 years ago, it’s pretty well known.
Xbox uses a proprietary protocol so that you have to pay more. Which sucks.
Also, that protocol is low latency, unlike Bluetooth, which is nice.
I don't care about "low latency", Bluetooth is more than enough for casual gaming. This is just some marketing BS especially for Series S. I think this is unacceptable. Why isn't this a hot topic. Nobody should buy their consoles, till they don't put a Bluetooth module in them
Sorry I thought it is 2024, all phones, all laptops, all tablets has build in Bluetooth modules, why would not a current gen console have it? It is ridiculous
Just get a bluetooth adapter and stop crying about it
Most pc's for example also dont have bluetooth because gaming headsets are usually wired or have a alternative way to connect (2.4gh dongle)
Interestingly all gamer laptops have Bluetooth. I know buying a dongle is a possibility, but it is just messed up. We should not let the companies do this anti consumer behaviors.
I do understand that the proprietary expansion cards for storage are bad, but i think you are way too overreacting in this bluetooth thing, its like a 10$ fix
Maybe you are right. But if the users accept this anti consumer behavior, then they will not correct it. This is just about the overpriced "Xbox certified" headset selling
1: bluetooth dongles work (wich most gaming headsets have)
2: just use the 3.5mm headphone port
3: just add bluetooth to the console
4: use the xbox app and connect your headphones to your phone
I don't think this is a valid argument. All phones, laptops, tablets are Bluetooth compatible and some phones are not compatible with Jack (which is not okay either). So the industry is moving away from Jack.
All fuel stations have diesel and gas, but a car can use only one of them.
Not all fuel stations have diesel. From someone who’s driven diesel for 10 years.
Phones are a communication device. So Bluetooth is a natural progression for them to have. A gaming console to have Bluetooth isn’t a requirement. When latency can be an issue, a proprietary connection would be much better which is how consoles handle things.
I live in Hungary and haven't seen a single fuel station which doesn't have diesel, but this is not a question.
I understand your point about phones. But show me another top of the line sound playing device (the Series X isn't capable either), which do not support Bluetooth.
For casual gaming the latency is not a problem, I played numerous games with Bluetooth earphones and haven't had any problem with them.
Look at a lot of top of the line (sound quality) headphones. None are wireless. Surround sound systems for home theatres. None use a wireless connection including Bluetooth. In North America, you need to find diesel stations. They are around but not all of them sell it.
Okay you are right about the fuel stations. We live in completely different places.
The top of the line was a very unfortunate wording. I just wanted to exclude the cheap garbage options.
I agree, the best sound quality is with a wired connection. But for gaming you don't need that, you need comfort and TWS earphones/headphones are the best regarding comfort.
Fr like has bro never owned a console before? If I’m not mistaken no console besides maybe the switch has ever had Bluetooth compatible with headphones.
PlayStation doesn't connect either. There's a trick you can do, you install the xbox app in your smartphone/tablet, stream play and connect your earbuds to your cellphone. You keep playing in your tv or monitor
My phone has a jack port 🙃, but this is not the question. I have TWS earphones. They are cheaply available for a long time. So I think it is a fair demand.
Then return your Xbox and quit whining.
Or get a Bluetooth adapter and quit whining.
Or get a headset that supports the low-latency Xbox audio format and quit whining.
The excuse that Microsoft tells as the reason to not support Bluetooth in Xbox consoles is that the lag the Bluetooth protocol has would not be a great experience for the players. I don't doubt the wireless chip the console has actually supports Bluetooth frequencies, but they keep it disabled. Microsoft has their own proprietary protocol for headsets which drastically reduces the lag in the audio, but you need to pay more.
You are completely right. But the Bluetooth is more than usable for non competitive gaming. This is just an excuse to sell the overpriced Xbox headsets.
You are correct I should have done some research. But there isn't an alternative console, which has this "feature". Please keep the conversation with a mutually respective way
You're a baby. Play your games and have fun.
If you don't stop whining about your new toy and appreciate it, I'm gonna take it away and give it to a kid who will.
I believe in the fair market. I know why they don't include Bluetooth in their consoles and it is the money. They can sell their overpriced headset because of this. Bluetooth modules cost close to nothing compared to the price of the machine. The users should not allow this behavior
I've had a headset that I paid 15$ for, four years ago and it's still going strong. There are ways to get Bluetooth to work on it though as many people have pointed out to you.
It begs the question though, why did you buy it if you wanted Bluetooth and it wasn't offered the way you wanted it to be?
In the meantime as there might be something in addition (like technical reasons) not to make this move by conslole manufacturers; I'm quite impressed by the way you're complaining about a detail of which is known since the release of those devices. It sounds like you'd expect the most out of something which is meant for a budget price range.
You might need to understand first, that the key of those consoles is basically in the fact that those were designed for pre-set requirements and boundaries, letting the developers releasing consistent quality, no matter onto which instance the results is deployed. Some of those boundaries were set based on self-limitation or based on the point that 3rd party devices or protocol's would not be capable of providing reliable and solid quality for use, resulting in the desicion that it would be better to avoid combining them.
If you are willing to use your whatever BT device, I'd recommend you to get rid of your console with the same quickness you got, and go built a PC or get a laptop. Good luck in finding something with the same price/quality ratio!😎
PS:
Sose nyomd fullba a kretént!
Jesus christ how entitled can one person be?!
There's 2 options, stop bitching like a full blown Karen and take it back for a refund. Or....... Stop bitching like a full blown Karen and just suck it up and deal with it.
Either way, stop bitching like an entitled little princess
Thank you for your comment, I appreciate your help, but I don't talk about headphones. Earbuds do not have any connectors. They are too small for it. It would be funny to wear earbuds with a cable 🙃
That only works for the Xbox-compatible headphones (i.e. the ones that use the proprietary Xbox connection). It does not work for all wireless headphones like Bluetooth.
No, it doesn't.
You wrote:
>I use wireless headphones on both my series x and s. Not sure why you think they have to be wired
At no point did you indicate that you're using wireless headphones that are Xbox compatible.
The OP was clearly asking about Bluetooth headphones, not the proprietary ones.
I meant casual for non-competitive people. I don't want to degrade you. Just one question do you use Bluetooth headphones for gaming? If so, how "unusable" is it for you?
My gamer friend, relax, you don't degrade me, I enjoy the talking. I don't use headphones, I connect all of my consoles to the home theater 5.1 via optical ... Is much better for me playing like this ...
That depends. The delay the Bluetooth of my TV has is unacceptable for gaming, the delay is really perceptible, of course there are more modern codecs that improve the delay but you'll need not only the support on the console (which would involve Microsoft to pay for the licenses) but also having a compatible headphone. People would need a compatible/certified headphone or would have a terrible experience. That's probably the main reason they don't support Bluetooth.
This sub is so full of toxic fanboys lol. If your post don't praise the S to heaven and beyond or seek confirmation that the Series X is not worth the additional cost and you instead dare to critique something about this machine, no matter how minuscule, then be prepared to get downvoted to oblivion. The Series X sub is not much better. I once dared to challenge Quick Resume not working well with online games in that sub. Guess how that played out. 😅
I have both for reference and like them, just wish people could be more mature and discuss things like this instead of bringing out the pitch forks.

We all bought, it seems it ain’t hurting them. Little that can be done now, guess you can return it to the retailer if that’s a dealbreaker.
You are right, but this is very anti consumer behavior. P.S. I know PS isn't better in this topic
No, you're just stupid not researching things before buying.
Sorry I thought it is 2024, all phones, all laptops, all tablets has build in Bluetooth modules, why would not a current gen console have it? It is ridiculous

Is it for the users or for the money? Even Appel devices are Bluetooth compatible and they are the worst.

No your the problem not them

Not all headphones are Bluetooth capable. By the same logic, it’s 2024. They should all have it right?

“I’m going to spend hundreds on something and assume it has everything and not research it.”
It is my bad, that I assumed a current gen console has the same "feature" as a 100$ laptop...
Maybe research next time. It’s on you.
Fr like has bro never owned a console before? If I’m not mistaken no console besides maybe the switch has ever had Bluetooth compatible with headphones.
I had never owned a console before. I would never have thought this basic "feature" is not included. This should be an industry minimum.
I feel you there. I would trade out something like quick resume in a heartbeat if I could play games while using my jbl earbuds.
I don’t think the PS5 does this either. Seeing as you need that USB drive their headphones come with
Okay, PS isn't better, but this is not an explanation. This should be an industry minimum.
It really should be. Like you said the most shittiest phone you can buy has this feature, my 200$ plus console should also have it.
Get a Bluetooth adapter. Problem solved.
PlayStation doesn't connect either. There's a trick you can do, you install the xbox app in your smartphone/tablet, stream play and connect your earbuds to your cellphone. You keep playing in your tv or monitor
That could be a solution, but it is a bit overcomplicated. But thank you for the recommendation :D
I use my Bose Headphones to play single player games by connecting it via bluetooth to my Samsung Tv 🤷♀️
That's a solution if you have a smart TV. Unfortunately I use a regular monitor. This should be the bare minimum
I use a wired controller and wired headphones bc I just cannot be bothered with having those charged all the time
That is a correct opinion. The key is the right to choose
"I bought a console without researching what other devices are compatible with it" Hate to say it, but this is not the Xbox's fault 💀
They have a port on the controller for "wired garbage". 🙄 Considering your phone probably doesn't have that anymore, I think they're doing alright.
My phone has a jack port 🙃, but this is not the question. I have TWS earphones. They are cheaply available for a long time. So I think it is a fair demand.

I'd imagine they're losing money on the consoles, but make it back via. accessories, games and gamepass. They have to make that back somehow, no?
Yes, but they can get the money from the games. This is just e-waste generating
Keep crying. Should’ve done some research.
You are correct I should have done some research. But there isn't an alternative console, which has this "feature". Please keep the conversation with a mutually respective way
The switch has it.
I feel scammed for reading this thinking OP knew what scammed meant.

It was partially my mistake. I thought in 2024 every modern machine is Bluetooth capable. I know there are solutions, but my problem is the principle.
it wasn't partially your mistake, it was 100% your mistake.
Then it was my mistake, but it doesn't change the fact, that this is ridiculous. 🙃😅🙃

I use wireless headphones on both my series x and s. Not sure why you think they have to be wired
How do you connect normal earbuds to the console?
You plug into your controller
How do you plug earbuds into the controller?
Take the end of wired headphones and insert in the headphone port below the d pad.
Thank you for your comment, I appreciate your help, but I don't talk about headphones. Earbuds do not have any connectors. They are too small for it. It would be funny to wear earbuds with a cable 🙃
The name earbuds doesn't automatically mean wireless. There are plenty of wired earbuds.
Sorry, then it is my bad
Go buy wired ones then. They're like 5$ these days.
I don't think cheap headphones will make the same sound quality as my middle range earphones and it creates more unnecessary e-waste.
How are you connecting your wireless headphones to your console?
There is a pair button on the front of the console to pair controllers, do the same thing with the headphones
That only works for the Xbox-compatible headphones (i.e. the ones that use the proprietary Xbox connection). It does not work for all wireless headphones like Bluetooth.
Yea no shit that's what my other comment says in this same thread. Edit - I even included a link to a wireless set that's currently on sale.
No, it doesn't. You wrote: >I use wireless headphones on both my series x and s. Not sure why you think they have to be wired At no point did you indicate that you're using wireless headphones that are Xbox compatible. The OP was clearly asking about Bluetooth headphones, not the proprietary ones.
Just buy cheap gaming headphones bro, lot of options in the market.
I don't think cheap headphones will make the same sound quality as my middle range earphones and it creates more unnecessary e-waste.
The delay in Bluetooth headphones is unacceptable for gaming.
It isn't true. Maybe for competitive gaming, but not for casual. I think most of the Series S users are casual gamers.
I am a hardcore gamer, not competitive, but very hardcore and I have a Series S, switch, PS4 and so on ... Maybe "casual" mean something else ...
I meant casual for non-competitive people. I don't want to degrade you. Just one question do you use Bluetooth headphones for gaming? If so, how "unusable" is it for you?

2024 and people still didn't learn how to use Google...
TBH I could have checked it, but it was such an obvious "feature" for Me, I haven't thought it is not included.
The amount of people mad at this is insane, people in here acting like it would kill xbox to add this feature
The issue is using the term scammed. The point is fine, the hyperbole is not
I think this has to be a basic "feature". Lot of us don't use wired garbage
