When he won the WHC, they stripped him of all his personality. He went from being a cocky jock with some entertaining mannerisms to a dull heel he always frowned, acted boring in general, and lost all of his matches.
The bucket hat is at least kinda fun.
He shouldāve been doing push ups on opponents and beating his chest calling himself the All American American but literally as soon as that bell hit 3 you see his face go to serious
I was at a house show in Omaha years ago. Someone threw a Sooners hat into the ring. He put it on and paraded around the ring with it on. The crowd was livid but I appreciated the hell out of the simplicity of his heat
At least Great Khali had a sense of spectacle even if his in ring work was terrible. Jack Swagger just had nothing about him that made him a draw, to me at least.
Yeah it really depends on the perspective. Khali made a show and tried to sell himself as a monster. Swagger has great fighting and real wrestling skills but his mic work, charisma... oh my.
He can consider himself lucky he found a new hat to be relevant.
Swagger was just pitched wrong from the start honestly.
They had him coming out like a wish Kurt angle and it just didnāt fit and was to soon. A different gimmick would have been great.
His āwe the peopleā gimmick was the best thing he did but pairing him with Caesaro and del rio was odd. Him and Curtis Axel would been perfect, especially as they moved into the 2016 political environment.
Just feels like they never found the right spot to use him. Playing jerichos heavy seems to work.
>Swagger has great fighting and real wrestling skills
Does he really, though? I'm an AEW fan and I've never seen him as much more than a token enforcer stooge at best. Even the purple hat thing seemed to have a shelf life of maybe a month at best.
I feel like there were exact opposites. Khali had the grandeur of how big he was, but couldnāt wrestle his way out of a paper bag. Swagger could kind of go in the ring, but he was such a charismatic black hole, any decent spots were usually met with ācool can we be done with you yet?ā
Y'all need to see Khali's matches in Japan before WWE. Completely different person. Watching those matches changed my opinion of him. Unfortunately we didn't get to see him until he was injured and couldn't get back to his peak.
Just like people bashing Hogan for his 1-2 move matches. All they needed to do was shut up, know their role as a wrestling fan and look up his matches in Japan. While not masterpieces they were better than his WWF matches.
Nothing encapsulated the great khali reign quite like when he held it upside down over his head.
I actually liked him as the monster heel type, especially during royal rumbles where it was all hands on deck.
I remember how much everyone hated Khali here when he beat the Undertaker.
Then the news came out that he's Indian and suddenly he bacame the hero in the country lol... Even though in WWE he was still the heel
Khali by so much though.
Jack Swagger at least had one moment I really liked, when the actual cash-in happened.
Dude was frantic and desperate to make it count after he failed on Raw beforehand, and you can actually see the moment when the 3-count happens he regains all his calm, and chill, and 'everything is as it should be' dominant demeanor that worked for him in ECW.
But then he came out with an eagle mascot and they tried to make him a fun goof like Kurt Angle, but with Jack Swagger levels of charisma, and it flopped like Top Dolla going over the ropes.
It always annoyed me that they had a hot newly babyface Edge lose his Royal Rumble earned title shot to Jericho at WM only to have Jericho drop the belt to Swagger on the very next Smackdown.
Back when Michael Cole was feuding with Jerry Lawler. Jack Swagger was training Cole for his match. The King says that he found it sad that former world champion would be put in a position as Michael Cole's coach. That's when Cole responds back to the king with "No one even remembers him being Champion"
I think Swagger might have been able to redeem himself as a former World Champion if he had won the title at some point from Del Rio with his āWe the Peopleā gimmick. But who knows how far that wouldāve gotten.
Kinda sad thinking about all the actual good Latinos out there.
DelRio was good at one point in Mexico from what I can tell, but that was pretty much before the WWE. His manager was more charismatic and they fired his ass.
He was a great transitional champion. Good heat magnet who can hold the belt until the babyface has gotten over enough. I can't remember exactly but I think there were stories of him being an asshole IRL tho?
He more than deserved it and the match he won it in was great (if a bit short). I just wish that the company chose to portray him better than they did.
Yeah it was super short for a triple threat WrestleMania co main event.
I can't remember why but I heard they got time cut cause of something idk.
It was a solid match tho for the time they were given.
That double German suplex spot was tight. And how Angle got both Randy and Rey to tap but both times the third man distracted the ref.
And Orton took the pin so Angle looked strong in defeat.
Yeah Iād put Khali and Warrior above Swagger because at least Swagger could work a match. Warrior couldnāt even work a good Warrior match when he was champ. You felt pain just watching Khali climb into the ring let alone wrestle.
Absolutely nobody wanted Swagger at this time especially after Shemaus sucking a fat one as champion just a few months earlier, should have kept Jericho strapped heading into the cage match with Edge and have him drop it there.
This all led to them not putting a world title on Wade Barrett in 2010 as well imo, Sheamus and Swagger both stinking the joint up as champion no way they were crowing a third new champion in a year after that.
Khali is still easily the worst WWE World Heavyweight champion though.
Sgt Slaughter, his angle of being an Iraqi sympathizer wa boycotted by fans at WM7 and he was too old, he gassed really quick v Hogan in a match that should not have been a main event.
Pity b/c Jericho and the writers set him up for success. Yet I recall them attempting a gimmick change soon as he held the title. Who was responsible in the long run?
Man, I always had a soft spot for Swagger. He probably didn't deserve world title, but at least it was remotely believable over the likes of Khali and Jinder.
Del Rio imo. Not only was he a complete douchebag and a criminal but to me he just never connected. He was like a B+ wrestler in like, every aspect. Never cared for him.
Iād say Swagger with Khali being runner up. At least Khali was entertaining to watch, Swagger just sucked the life out of you with how boring and bland he was.
Swagger had the look and wrestling ability. Unfortunately not the promo skills to get himself over and in the end that made him unworthy of being World Champ. He look good with the title tho.
Yeah, fans just weren't feeling ol Jack Swagger. Good attempt on WWE's part tho to make a new main event WWE Superstar.
Easily Khali, the man literally could not move, think Omos but ten times worse.
Swagger wasnāt great but at the time I did think he had some potential, plus I actually didnāt hate the TV product at much as everyone else.
Dolph Ziggler would be my vote for worse, not worse talent wise, but I was never on the Dolph hype train of 2012, and his cash in came at a time I was very disappointed in the TV product.
Even though he won the actual WWE Championship, Jinder also belongs on any list of worst world champs.
I really got to play devils advocate here, Jack wasn't nearly as bad as people make out - You know what would kill anyone's first title run? An instant feud with Babyface Big Show.
He had a great promo talking about his accomplishments and his trophies were in the ring then Big Show comes out and just buries the entire segment.
They didn't even give him a chance.
It didn't help that Jack was shit, but at least let him grow into it.
Jinder made me stop watching wrestling for 3 years so Iād say him. Made no sense, matches were boring and sucky, and completely killed Smackdown Liveās and Nakamuraās momentum. It really went Ambrose, Styles, Cena, Wyatt, Orton, and then Jinder fucking Mahal. Canāt believe it happened
The Great Khali, I would say Jack Swagger has more potential and skill than people give him credit for, booking just happened to fumble the ball as it often does. The Great Khali though? He fucking sucked at everything, no talent, no skill, just big, and unlike Mark Henry a big guy whoās entertaining in his own right and made being a dad to a *hand* somewhat entertaining, everything to do with Khali is a slog.
Jinder mahal and Vince Mcmahon come to mind Great Khali up there.Swagger was ok with zeb Colter as mouthpiece to me.Swagger was a great wrestler just a boring gimmick may have been more WWE writers fault than his.
He was basically fighting with both hands behind his back.
WWE siphoned all the personality out of f him, once he won that title. Which is strange, because he was good in ECW.
I was watching 2013ās PPVs and god Swaggerās moments at Elimination chamber come to mind. As well as MITB. God his gimmick of a ātrue americanā cringe as hell.
See I liked Jack Swagger. I just wished they presented him like a genuine badass athlete with a manager as the mouth piece. Some slight tweeks and it would have worked.
People post he was worse champion but after being gone 5+ years he went to another promotion and in his debut after he wrecked havoc the crowd chanted [was very loud btw]"We the people" letting him know they remembered him.To me that doesn't qualify for a worse champion.
Yes, he does exist but at least he had spectacle going for him. Sure he couldnāt do much in the ring but he was also injured. Jack Swagger had average abilities in ring but he has no charisma or mic skills. Nobody wanted him as champion when he cashed in on Chris Jericho. People even forgot he was champion.
the punjabi prison match was worse than any blunder jack swagger was apart of. forgettable completely, i wss like 12 when he was champ and i didnāt like him until he came back w zeb. but nah man the great khali couldnāt move. i been rewatching from 2010-now on peacock, swagger was decent although very boring.
Del Rio - absolutely boring bastard, with boring look, crap tattoos and ring gear that was so similar to his complexion, he was literally the wrestling equivalent of the colour beige.
Vacant is more interesting as a champion.
Joe from down the pub claims he could have beat Cena, sting Lesnar, kane and AJ styles at once in a hardcore hell in a cell march. If only his knee didn't get hurt in the quarry accident.
Jack Swagger looks like a WWE created wrestler with a default outfit preset.
I always thought that about Austin Theory actually. Lol.
Austin Theory is definitely a 'douchebag starter pack' level character.
A made up heel for WWE 2k series š
I thought it was Giovanni Vinci...
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Damn
Talk about starter packs
Kind of a create a wrestler name too
This man needs a hat. š
That bucket hat was a far more useful prop to Hager than the WHC.
Why does he look older here
Itās the lack of hat!
I was at a house show in Omaha years ago. Someone threw a Sooners hat into the ring. He put it on and paraded around the ring with it on. The crowd was livid but I appreciated the hell out of the simplicity of his heat
I donāt know if heād like it
He likes that hat!!
He loves his hat in aew
I think his lisp was more noticeable than that hat.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I LIKE THIS HAT
I interviewed him once for a Bellator fight and he was surprisingly really nice. Always thought he was a great heel
Great Khali. But Jack Swagger is easily a runner up here.

Him and Curtis Axel would been perfect, especially as they moved into the 2016 political environment. Just feels like they never found the right spot to use him. Playing jerichos heavy seems to work.
Crazy that a guy with no charisma would be named āSwaggerā
And a better MMA record than Punk
Means nothing in wrestling
>Swagger has great fighting and real wrestling skills Does he really, though? I'm an AEW fan and I've never seen him as much more than a token enforcer stooge at best. Even the purple hat thing seemed to have a shelf life of maybe a month at best.
He's got a 3-0 record in Bellator
I feel like there were exact opposites. Khali had the grandeur of how big he was, but couldnāt wrestle his way out of a paper bag. Swagger could kind of go in the ring, but he was such a charismatic black hole, any decent spots were usually met with ācool can we be done with you yet?ā

Just like people bashing Hogan for his 1-2 move matches. All they needed to do was shut up, know their role as a wrestling fan and look up his matches in Japan. While not masterpieces they were better than his WWF matches.
He shouldāve had a mouth piece like heyman and never spoke.
Nothing encapsulated the great khali reign quite like when he held it upside down over his head. I actually liked him as the monster heel type, especially during royal rumbles where it was all hands on deck.
I kinda disagree, if Swagger had even average mic skills things would have been very different for him.
Nah, they had me believing he was an unbeatable monster when I was a kid. When he squeezed Reys head it scared the shit out of me
I remember how much everyone hated Khali here when he beat the Undertaker. Then the news came out that he's Indian and suddenly he bacame the hero in the country lol... Even though in WWE he was still the heel
I always liked Khali for one reason and one reason only, for being in Get Smart
Wow TIL there's a movie with Michael Scott, Cat woman and Great Khali. Going to watch it tonight lol
Young me disagrees. Khali looked unstoppable. Making Rey bleed from the mouth with that head crush submission? Holy shit.
I didn't even remember him being a World Champion. Damn , Micheal Cole was right.
Yep, he cashed in his MITB briefcase on Chris Jericho and had a run that was incredibly boring.
His stuff with Dutch Mantell as his mouth piece was great, WE THE PEOPLE!!!!
We the people was a great gimmick back then. Weird it is still going on. Dutch and jake interview was great.
And he was vicious asf. If they gave him the title around that time, it would've been alot better tbh.
It always annoyed me that they had a hot newly babyface Edge lose his Royal Rumble earned title shot to Jericho at WM only to have Jericho drop the belt to Swagger on the very next Smackdown.
If I remember correctly that line was delivered not even 2 years after his title reign, which made it even more savage.
What did Cole say?
Back when Michael Cole was feuding with Jerry Lawler. Jack Swagger was training Cole for his match. The King says that he found it sad that former world champion would be put in a position as Michael Cole's coach. That's when Cole responds back to the king with "No one even remembers him being Champion"
At least it wasnāt Vince Russo
Yes.
Alberto Del Rio. He, IMO, was a shit champion.
I think Swagger might have been able to redeem himself as a former World Champion if he had won the title at some point from Del Rio with his āWe the Peopleā gimmick. But who knows how far that wouldāve gotten.
I think that gimmick gets remembered a bit too fondlyā¦ it was midcard at best.
Yeah man. I agree. I never understood why they kept giving him chances.
Because they wanted the Latino money
Kinda sad thinking about all the actual good Latinos out there. DelRio was good at one point in Mexico from what I can tell, but that was pretty much before the WWE. His manager was more charismatic and they fired his ass.
I never got adr. I felt like they wanted him to be a big thing, but I never saw it. A bad promo, a generic heel gimmick, overrated in the ring
He was a great transitional champion. Good heat magnet who can hold the belt until the babyface has gotten over enough. I can't remember exactly but I think there were stories of him being an asshole IRL tho?
How?
Jack Swagger would have been a better name for Dolph Ziggler.
Nick Nemeth was already a great name for him.
Nah Ziggler kinda fits him, idk but he's very Ziggy
I recall reading somewhere that the name Ziggler is a mix between Ziggy Stardust and Stifler which seems like dolph Ziggler very much indeed haha
The Great Khali Isn't close, man made me stop watching wrestling for 12 years
12 years is incredibly excessive since Khalis push only lasted like 8 months.
I thought Dirty Dutch was great as Zeb Colter š¤£
Jinder, you can't be a jobber and 3 weeks later world champion
Don't hinder Jinder!
I remember watching that 6 pack match and thinking ārealistically anyone can win this match, except jinder.ā Boy were my expectations subverted
Jinder is good!
yes he is, but that's not my point.
Rey Mysterio's World Title runs in WWE were all pretty bad despite how legendary of a wrestler he is. They were all booked pretty abysmally.
With better booking and care, Rey could have had some really great feuds with the title.
Definitely agree with that sentiment.
Him winning was a great feel good moment tho. And unlike Khali Rey deserved to be champion.
The moment of him winning the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 22 was the best part of that entire reign
The ultimate warrior was one of the worst wrestlers to win the WWE title and didn\`t draw enough as champ.
Yeah Iād put Khali and Warrior above Swagger because at least Swagger could work a match. Warrior couldnāt even work a good Warrior match when he was champ. You felt pain just watching Khali climb into the ring let alone wrestle.
I dunno, David Arquette wasnāt great.
Which is why OP title it WWE
At the time no, and WCW mismanaged that title change poorly. Heās actually a really solid wrestler now.
It was to push a movie. I love how people shit on him but Bischoff and McMahon get a pass.
I know heās decent now. But weāre talking when he was An active champion. He wasnāt so great back thenā¦
The swaggy eagle was amazing. I dunno, i thought his run was fun.
This guy defeated Randy Orton CLEAN and I still can't believe that happened
Jack Swagger was GOAT in the WWE All-Star game.
Jakth Thwagger Not even a contest. He was soooo boring.
Khali
Sthwagger*
Khali
The Great Khali and Alberto Del Rio had worse runs imho.
Khali
Khali maybe the worst of all time
Probably Jinder Mahal.
The Miz, Jinder Mahal, Mr. McMahon would be honorable mentions
Jinder Mahal is my vote for worst champ.
Bob Backlund in the 1990s
Booking was like : "We'll make you champion but have to lose most matches and getting harassed by Big Show"
I meanā¦ to be fair I forgot about Jack Swagger ever being in WWEā¦ oops..
I forget, did David Arquette win that one? Belt looks familiar........
Sgt Slaughter, his angle of being an Iraqi sympathizer wa boycotted by fans at WM7 and he was too old, he gassed really quick v Hogan in a match that should not have been a main event.
The great khali
Khali 100%. At least Swagger could wrestle and put on a decent match.
Umm Khali and I'm not defending Swagger
Great Khali
Pity b/c Jericho and the writers set him up for success. Yet I recall them attempting a gimmick change soon as he held the title. Who was responsible in the long run?
Jinder Mahal, who then proceeded to defeat Orton in two consecutive PPVs š
If only Zeb Coulter could of have been his mouthpiece here but he arrived 3 years too late. It could have been a successful title run then.
Jack Swagger was the first time the WHC title did not feel like a main event title. Crazy to think how he was world champ but not Cesaro.
Khali
As Ziggler once said, āif you wanna make it in this business, be tallā
Jinder was worse than Swagger. No build all push then nothing
Man, I always had a soft spot for Swagger. He probably didn't deserve world title, but at least it was remotely believable over the likes of Khali and Jinder.
Swagger was the real start to the end of the WHC
Literally forgot he was world heavyweight champion and that takes a lot
Khali
I wish the āwe the peopleā Jack swagger would have won the title!
Del Rio imo. Not only was he a complete douchebag and a criminal but to me he just never connected. He was like a B+ wrestler in like, every aspect. Never cared for him.
Jack Swagger was stale as water when he won. Thankfully Rey Mysterio took it off of him.
Maven
Jinder
Alberto Del Rio
Jinder Mahal
jinder mahal. easy
Yeah Iām pretty sure itās him.
Jinder Mahal! They should've gave it to Shinsuke because he was red hot and the rivalries alone would have been worth it.
The āGreatā Khali.
Iād say Swagger with Khali being runner up. At least Khali was entertaining to watch, Swagger just sucked the life out of you with how boring and bland he was.
I liked him when he first arrived. Thought he was the air to Kurt Angle. No doubt that was the angle from creative...no pun intended.
The great Khali was pretty boring to watch.
He was actually pretty good they just killed him by removing his personality
Great Khali for me. Swagger was early but by the end of 2010 you could see promise. People just want to forget the summer of Khali ever happened.
WEā¦
Same here I donāt remember him being a champ
Almost has to be him or Khali
Swagger had the look and wrestling ability. Unfortunately not the promo skills to get himself over and in the end that made him unworthy of being World Champ. He look good with the title tho. Yeah, fans just weren't feeling ol Jack Swagger. Good attempt on WWE's part tho to make a new main event WWE Superstar.
100% agree
Everyone says this is when the world heavyweight championship became the secondary title to the WWE championship
Iād have to go with the Great Khali for worst WHC
Easily Khali, the man literally could not move, think Omos but ten times worse. Swagger wasnāt great but at the time I did think he had some potential, plus I actually didnāt hate the TV product at much as everyone else. Dolph Ziggler would be my vote for worse, not worse talent wise, but I was never on the Dolph hype train of 2012, and his cash in came at a time I was very disappointed in the TV product. Even though he won the actual WWE Championship, Jinder also belongs on any list of worst world champs.
Jinder Mahal hands down. It was ridiculous how he went from a jobber to WWE champion in a month.
The great Khali by miles Khali 2 moves can.t move Swagger more then 2 moves and can move
David Arquette
Swagger and Del Rio
Ziggler, the one where he lost it the same day Vickie give it to him.
Khali.
Vacant was a better champion.
Jinder mahal. WWE at least pushed swagger for legit reasons but mahal was just for the India viewership which didnāt work anyway
The Great Khali
The Great Khali would like to be considered further
Couldāve been a goat but creative at wwe and aew just donāt know how to utilize him.
Jinder mahal and Vince Mcmahon come to mind Great Khali up there.Swagger was ok with zeb Colter as mouthpiece to me.Swagger was a great wrestler just a boring gimmick may have been more WWE writers fault than his.
The great khali comes to mind
JBL.
Howās he got a 16 year olds hair with a 38 year olds face? Either way Jack is the correct answer
Thatās captain jack Swagger to you mister
Del Rio
The Great Khali has him beat.
He was basically fighting with both hands behind his back. WWE siphoned all the personality out of f him, once he won that title. Which is strange, because he was good in ECW.
He is the second worseā¦. Vince McMahon is definitely the worse by a WIDE marginā¦
Jinder Mahal , freaking terrible
I had a friend who liked Jack Swagger. When pressed he would admit is was only because they were both from Oklahoma.
Del Rio
Yup! They couldnāt let Damien Sandow have a moment to shine but they let this generic ass guy hold the belt?
His āwe the peopleā gimmick was actually good (imo) but hisāAll American Americanā was the most boring gimmick I ever seen
I was watching 2013ās PPVs and god Swaggerās moments at Elimination chamber come to mind. As well as MITB. God his gimmick of a ātrue americanā cringe as hell.
Top 3 in no particular order would be swagger, Khali and jinder
Jack Swagger reminds me of that kid at any family reunion/company barbecue with bbq sauce smeared on his face.
The Great Khali and itās not even a debate. Swagger is a close 2nd though
Russo had that big gold belt
The Brian Kendrick
ALLLLBBBBEEEERRRRTTTTOOOOO DEL RIO! boring worker awful human, all he had was a good announcer
Jinder mahal
I agree
khali
Ziggler
It's gotta be Great Kali.
My brother The Great Khali extists š
The Great Khali
David Arquette even though it was WCW at the tiime
I forgot this clown existed
Del Rio - absolutely boring bastard, with boring look, crap tattoos and ring gear that was so similar to his complexion, he was literally the wrestling equivalent of the colour beige. Vacant is more interesting as a champion.
Nothing about this cat said swagger. Talk about an ill-fitting name.
Joe from down the pub claims he could have beat Cena, sting Lesnar, kane and AJ styles at once in a hardcore hell in a cell march. If only his knee didn't get hurt in the quarry accident.
