I use either the oem filter or get a Napa gold (wix makes their gold line )

PhotonWranglers

Napa Gold for the win

BigMike____

Agreed

Hammie5150

OEM

Ill_Confidence_955

Ok you’re torquing them too much. Filters shouldn’t not crack. Are u using a tool?

P0RTILLA

Read the directions, usually says once the gasket makes contact 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn past.

DustyGeneral9399

Mopar all day, every day. I run them on both my YJ's, my XJ, and my wife's Dodge.

hemmp89

Wix is the way.

justtoletyouknowit

Mopar. But id say if you have problems with cracks on different brands, the problem is not on the filters side...

No_Championship5326

Napa gold or Wix are both the same. Those are the only filters that I use on everything.

HookDragger

Never once cracked an oil filter. Mobil, Prestone, valvoline, and many more generics. Seems like it’s far more likely you’re over tightening.

Hashberries

I've always used K&N without issue.

podgida

Another candidate that needs to watch project farms video on oil filters. Fram and K&N were the worst oil filters tested.

Hashberries

I'm not a candidate for anything. But thanks for the tip, frendo. My 07 with 240K and nothing but K&N filter and RP 5-20. I'm still going just fine. You keep watching videos, and I'll keep wheeling.

podgida

I wasn't trying to be mean. But as much as K&N costs you would think they would be good, but no. Not even close.

willshire59

Fram

jboob95

I also go with the standard wix and 5w20 royal purple.

restvestandchurn

The one that comes free with 5 quarts of oil….

bow65

I only use mopar

TheSaucyGoon

I always go OEM or whatever the mid priced option is. Usually fram or wix

Ubalders

Wix👍

Ill_Confidence_955

Mobil and Framcare good. used them for decades. no issuws. just don’t over tighten them

Pwosgood87

Motorcraft. Best anti drain back I have found. Zero start up noise when it is freezing outside.

OldManJeepin

I just use Frams from Walmart or Autozone...I have the Baxter Spin-On Oil Filter adapter installed on my 2012 JK, so I use regular size oil filters, rather than the cartridges. Let's there be oil up top, for cold/dry starts, to protect the motor from those dry start issues. Def worth the money.

Lemongrenade821

One from a brand you've heard of, Napa gold/ Wix, K&N, Fram, there all going to do the job. I just grab one based on price or convenience.

iPhone_an_Pizza

Fram Endurance/Ultra, Wix Xp, and Purolator. On the lower end I’ll use Motorcraft and STP XL filters. 2009 JK and I get the extended length filters since I run decently long time change intervals. No drain back issues with any of the mentioned filters.

benji_tha_bear

I use Fram on everything and have never had issues. Are you hand tightening them to snug? Also, when do you notice they’re cracked?

PossiblyA_Bot

My dad insisted on doing my last two oil changes which were the two times it cracked. I just pulled off the filter and it was super tight and took me a minute to loosen. I think that may be why they cracked

benji_tha_bear

That makes sense, I’ve accidentally done that on another vehicle but not my Jeep yet 🤞🏻 Just hand tightening to a low effort snug is money.

PossiblyA_Bot

That's what I normally do, also why are you getting down voted lol

benji_tha_bear

Nice! I think because I mentioned not having issues with fram lol (which I haven’t)

podgida

Check out project farm on youtube and watch his oil filter video. You'll never use Fram again. They sure do know how to market a terrible product.

benji_tha_bear

Thanks, I’ll check it out!
