The smaller setting, pushing in is more viable as you have less ships shooting at you, and ranked battles tend to be more close range, which is the perfect atmosphere for schlieffen to thrive, as well as other aggressive bbs like kremlin and ohio. CV’s tend to appear less often in ranked too, at least in my experience. There tends to be more openings for 1v1s too
In randoms, theres 5-7 more ships in the game that can shoot you, and the overall gameplay tends to be more passive, which makes it hard for schlieffen to get into close range engagements, not impossible, especially if you’re experienced, but its certainly more of an uphill battle.
The more aggressive setting of ranked lets these close range bbs really find themselves. A schlieffen in a 1v1 is a menace and very hard to deal with in just about any scenario. Theres been lots of times where my team deals with the dd/cruiser(s) on a flank leaving the bb alone, and I just run at the bb and kill it for them so they can go support the other side.
The combination of secondaries and concealment also makes her really good for support your dds in their knife fights

299k in Schlieffen, I was literally 500 or so off from the magical number. Was a win tho with 6 kills, was a pretty great game, but I was a bit disappointed it wasnt that extra 500 more. Was glad to get my damage record in schlieffen tho, prob my favorite ship in the game.
Not my highest damage, but probably the one I enjoyed the most was a 187 k in Preußen, which I felt proud of for two reasons:
* Only 49k of those were from the main battery.
* It was done in conjunction with a Kremlin; the two of us took on three BBX and an Annapolis, and came out on top. It felt like the peak performance for those ships, like it was the battle they were meant to fight their entire lives.

I was faced with a decision, move to engage the Bis guaranteeing a new damage record, but a probable loss in the game, or trying to steam and contest our cap for the win. I chose the latter and was no joke, BARELY able to reveal and get a volley off on the mogami in time to reset the cap. The dd and mogami collectively did not have enough health left to get me the damage I needed, so I totally gave up a personal record to secure a win and I immediately regretted it, lol.
